wvudarling Posted October 3 #1 Share Posted October 3 For those who have embarked in Barcelona any hotel recommendations? Our plan is to stay for 2-3 nights before our cruise as we will be flying from the US and want to allow adequate time in the event of cancellations or delays. Assuming air travel goes to plan we would like to use the days to sightsee a bit. I've been to Barcelona but it's been years and my husband and daughter have never visited. Incidentally, if allowed here, I'd love recommendations of travel agents who handle MSC (specificallly YC), airfare and hotels. I'm struggling to find a full service agent. If those types of recommendations are now permitted here please feel free to disregard this part of the post. 🙂

There's also lots of information on that board about what to see and do in Barcelona. Here's the link: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/465-spain-and-portugal-ports/ Just fyi, travel agent recommendations aren't allowed. wvudarling Posted October 3 Author #3 Share Posted October 3 Thank you! I was looking specificaly in MSC but didn't think to look more broadly on the forum. I really appreciate the direction. 🙂
Rare BirdTravels Posted October 4 #4 Share Posted October 4 Welcome to Cruise Critic! We always stay at the Hilton Diagonal Mar (before and after cruise). It's near but not next to the port. But it is across the street from a mall (with lots of restaurants), it is on the hop on/hop off lines, and near a metro stop.
raino144 Posted October 4 #5 Share Posted October 4 Eurostars Grand Marina, and the W (pricey) are seafront and both personally recommended. Hilton Diagonal Mar also second the recommendation above. In addition the Intercontinental (formerly the Crowne Plaza) has decent facilities, lounge, and rooftop pool if a bit further out.

We are staying at LA Meridien for a few nights at the end of the month for our TA cruise. Will not be with MSC but with RCCL for the TA. Wish we knew about the Seaside TA out of Civitavecchia before we booked the RCCL TA out of Barcelona. We could have joined you for those 21 nights. We had originally booked Divina out of Genoa on 2 November, but that was cancelled by MSC (supposedly because they had a drydock schedule change). Our fabulous travel agent was able to convince MSC to rebook us at the same price on Seaside for 1 night longer out of Civitavecchia. The only "catch" for us was that we would be sailing only a few weeks after our Seascape cruise in September. We are on Divina for a transatlantic in October 2025 from Lisbon, if you're looking to book one then.

Congrats on getting a longer cruise for the same Personallly we prefer Seaside over Divina for the amount of things to do. Plus, I bet, the Seaside booking was more per night than Divina. We prefer the TSL on Seaside class. Actually wife and I kljust discussed this and we prefer the larger MSC ships. While with RCL we are fine from Vision to Oasis class. With a soft spot for the Freedom class ships. Edited October 9 by frank808
