LuAnn Posted April 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2006 First time on this cruise line...leaving in about 2 weeks...any not to be missed items from a food stand-point on board?
Dadofsara Posted April 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2006 If your ship has a Chops, don't miss it! Make your reservation as soon as you board. Ask when Caribbean night is in the dining room which is the weakest menu and book Chops. Some of the best food we've ever had!
windjamming Posted April 7, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 7, 2006 Welcome LuAnn! Can't-miss-dining is a popular topic on this forum! Here's one thread where it's been discussed recently: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=325315 I'm personally partial to the scallop risotto, terrine and grand marnier souffle. Happy cruising!!

Cheese sticks make a great appetizer with fries. Cheesecake......yum! The one in Chops is totally amazing. Too bad our next ship doesn't have Chops :( The kids order room service cheesecake every night. Kathy, our 12 year old loves Escargot too....go figure. fireguy091 Posted April 7, 2006 #21 Share Posted April 7, 2006 What is flourless cake?
a-tx-brit Posted April 7, 2006 #22 Share Posted April 7, 2006 INGREDIENTS: 4 (1 ounce) squares semisweet chocolate, chopped 1/2 cup butter 3/4 cup white sugar 1/2 cup cocoa powder 3 eggs, beaten 1 teaspoon vanilla extract -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Grease an 8 inch round cake pan, and dust with cocoa powder. In the top of a double boiler over lightly simmering water, melt chocolate and butter. Remove from heat, and stir in sugar, cocoa powder, eggs, and vanilla. Pour into prepared pan. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely. Slices can also be reheated for 20 to 30 seconds in the microwave before serving. megessey Posted April 7, 2006 #23 Share Posted April 7, 2006 Isn't flourless cake just a big slab of fudge? (not that I'm complaining about that :p ) Anyone who is afraid to try escargot-- its drowned in so much butter, that's all you really taste, which is also why its sooooooooooo goooooooood! thompson4131 Posted April 7, 2006 #24 Share Posted April 7, 2006 I particularly like the "make your own" salad bar in the Windjammer. Mixed Greens with carrot slivers, cucumber slices, onion and plain balsamic vinager (no oil please). This combination is considered a "negative calorie" food...you burn more calories eating & digesting it than you actually consume.
JeffKoz Posted April 7, 2006 #25 Share Posted April 7, 2006 Like so many other posters, we love the escargot appetizer and will never miss it. A few other "small" things that seem mundane to some but our fav's: Oatmeal in Windjammer (sounds ridiculus, but it really is the best we've ever had) Coconut Macaroons (not always available, but when they are - yummmmy) Shrimp Cocktail Creme Bruelle (sp?) We love this desert I am not a chilled soup person, but have started to try them - and have been impressed.
