What "odd" things do you look forward to when cruising?

The best part of cruising is forgeting about cleaning, cooking, laundry, snow shoveling... By the time we leave the ship (I like 18 day cruises) I have zero thoughts about these chores. It takes weeks back home to get into the swing of things.

I have to tell you---that is one great picture you have on there---I love it.

Thanks! You made my morning!

You can't tell in the picture but the glasses light up all kinds of colors & I saved them just for formal night. I waited until the dessert round of dinner & broke them out. Wore them all night, got so many comments & many offers of cold hard cash! LOL! Gotta have fun!

The odd thing I really look forward to is a hot dog. Yup. That's it. I don't eat 'em ever except once on each cruise.

Oh all the other stuff is nice too as mentioned above, but I look forward to my next hot dog.:D

My DH and I love to feel the ship moving, especially after an exhausting but wonderful day in port. We love to have the ship gently rock us to sleep. I told him he should come up with a way for our house to do that! We even like the rougher seas. (I know - we're weird!)

We also like this. Sleeping at home will never be the same (unless we can get the bed hitched up on to some kind of rocking machine)!!!:D

Soo much I look foward to.

The main one is I go off my diet and gorge myself the whole cruise lmao...I gained 5 pounds on my last 8 day cruise but soo worth it!

Playing in the casino, I only do that when we cruise

Pictures Pictures and more Pictures..I love to dress up and I grab at least 5 family portraits per cruise!

Spending time with my family..these are times that memories are made and I love giving my daughter so many memories to carry with her

I love going out on the balcony before my family wakes with a can of soda and sit just mesmerized by the beauty of the ocean

Hearing island music with a fruity frozen drink in hand ahhhh nothing like it!

You're not weird... I love to feel the ship moving.... I like the motion... I have never had really "rough" seas though, just pretty choppy and, unfortunately, that did not last long.

It's 5:00 and we're standing on our aft balcony, champagne in hand, and the sea breeze is blowing through our hair. As we hear the ship's horn blast out "when you wish upon a star", we see a dolphin emerge from starboard. Happens every time!

Although we loved our NCL cruise last year (complete with an upgrade to suite), it just wasn't the same - no catchy tune and no dolphins.

I forgot to mention (and this is corny) how special I feel when they ithe crew greets us at the entrance to the ship and directs to the entire ship (via the PA system) to "Welcome aboard Mr. & Mrs. Callahan from Orlando, FL" . I feel like a movie star on the red carpet.

10 years ago (or so) we boarded a cruise ship-- RCCL's largest at the time-- for a wedding. We toured the ship, had a great meal, attended the wedding, and then were asked to leave the soon-to-depart ship!

So it might not be odd, and most probably take it for granted, but this April we are taking our first real cruise and the thing I am looking forward to the most is the sail away! They'll have to drag me off the boat this time (warning, I'll be a lot heavier by that 7th night).

Falling asleep on the deck under the stars is a not-so-distant second.

When we cruised on Celebrity Zenith to Bermuda, I loved watching the channel on the tv that showed the course the ship was on so we'd know how close we were getting. Also, we had an early tee time and one day so we ordered our breakfast for the next day on our tv. IT was fun deciding what to have and when to have it delivered. OK, we did so much more than watch the tv, but this thread was for what unusual things we liked to do. 8-)

I love the channel that shows were we are, where we've been and where we are going! I leave the tv on that channel with the sound down low for a night light. The best ones are the ones that tell how deep the sea is. I even like the music.

Call me crazy - just don't forget to call me for dinner!

i love:

-the fact that all the stress of "the real life" gets put on hold while on a cruise.

-the check in

-the first step on board

-the hallways and how neverending they look

-the crew and how friendly they are, the servers in the dining room especially.

-the horn blow when heading off to sea. even those life vests we have to wear during the drill.

basicly everything;):)

I love it when the ship leaves port, I always head to the very back of the ship and watch the engines turn on and see the first few feet of the ships movement. I also look forward to the rocking ship, only for an hour because I feel like I'm sailing, and not on land.

Seeing the brilliant smiles on the crew's faces when I say Hello, Please, Thank You and Have a Good Evening ........in their language.

I learned the minimal amount of words and phrases from asking the crew and promptly writing them down in a note book which I refer to frequently during our cruises.

I even had one waiter ask what we were writing down. We take photos of all our food and jot notes for our blog. He wanted to know if we owned a restaurant and if he could come work for us. That was very sweet. If we did, I would have hired him on the spot!

The stupid little chime they sound (on Princess) when making an annoucement. Every once in awhile, we hear it on land and it give me goosebumps - as well as the urge to look for a railing.

Charlie

I use that chime for text messages. I love that chime!
