VPoop,

I saw just a little of the first part and like you thought it was strange, all you saw were the participants and the trainers, plus the ship staff...Do you think they actually had all the ship for their week?

There were probably lots of people onboard ... they just kept them out of the areas where they were filming each day.

Some scenes for a new movie were shot at my workplace this past weekend ... something called "Shooter" with Danny Glover. They did their filming in our building on Sunday. They had tons of extra security in, building services people, etc. Streets were blocked off with all of their equipment trucks and the specific areas where they were shooting were cleared of all employees, with "blockades" set up to keep them out. Of course, a day like Sunday was chosen for the filming because less employees would be in the building to begin with. Believe me, when that movie comes out, you will think their actors were the only ones in the building that day. But they certainly were not.

I'd bet there were other people on the ship during this filming ... or else the majority of the filming was done over the course of several weeks ... when the ship was in its home port and before the regular passengers had boarded.

I can't imagine "The Biggest Loser" would charter the whole ship for a week ... just for a small number of contestants. It just wouldn't be cost-effective.

Well, there were people walking around because that one woman was whining and screaming and almost knocked people over. I as thinking they ate in the dining room before they opened it up to the other folks. I assume they were on all week, but maybe it was just one day in port.

Well, if the spouses had to leave the losing team, that would make sense.

We had a couple of movies shot at our school, as well as very VIPS for a business summit. When Maggie Thatcher came, we were all given the day off by security and then they swept through the areas and locked everything down. When they shot the movie, students and staff were kept well away from any of the location shots. Not many students knew who Lee Marvin was much less want to oogle him, but procedures are just that.

Same thing holds true when they film in any big city. That's why they can always find a parking space in downtown SF!

LOL ... parking spaces they had plenty of. The police put signs up a couple of days before announcing that all cars parked on that street (a major city street that normally allows parking on the weekends) would be towed Saturday night if left there. They had their film trucks parked two deep ... with only one lane available for traffic. Can you imagine the trouble I had getting my bus home that morning?

Yeah, we didn't get anywhere near the filming areas. We were up in the computer center dreaming ... singing ... "they're gonna put me in the movies ... they're gonna make a big star out of me ... " LOL ... the closest we'll get to that movie is when we go to the theater to see it. :)

I got bets they chartered the ship for just a few days they definitely were not on a 7 day cruise. It looked like they left out of San Francisco, then one time it looked like they were in Cabo by the rock formations in the background. I bet they were on the ship (even those that won) 3 days max. It did look like a nice ship, very big but also looked a lot like a Las Vegas Casino in the buffet area.

There is a discussion of this on the Princess board. There were passengers onboard. The cruise started in LA and went North. Apparently it was the repositioning cruise for Alaska in May as some got off in Vancouver. I think the "show" people got off in SF.

Now I find that very interesting. How is that not a violation of the Passenger Services Act?

Or did the show pick up the fine? Or! Did the government not look at it as a violation? Hummm.

Maybe there's an exception for that sort of thing? Like when a movie is being shot in a certain city, and the city cooperates by closing streets, providing police, extra parking for the studio vehicles (often in no parking areas), etc. Maybe shooting a tv show on a cruise ship is beneficial to the image of the "seafaring trade," and thus falls into an exception category?

I don't think there would be a problem getting on in LA and off in SF. The Delta Queen, for instance, cruises the Mississippi, with options for 3 or 4

or 7 days. There is no foreign port between the US ones.

Saw the show, but fell asleep just before the person was voted off. Who was it. I am so mad that I missed it. I think it was tied between two people. The ship looked beautiful, but didn't see too much of it.

It was tied, so the blue team came in and voted off Nelson who wasn't even one of the ones tied. Everyone cried. First time I'd seen it these season and this 'voting off' stuff is new to me. Changes the whole concept of the show.

The Delta Queen isn't subject to the Passenger Services Act as it is US flagged.

We were on board, 7 day coastal cruise. Ship was full and from reading these boards, many offers to reschedule went out last minute, supposedly to accomodate the show cast and crew.

It was very low key filming on board, we watched a couple challenges. The ship is huge and accomodates the crowd pretty well. They cordoned off small areas for filming but you could sit and watch. They didnt broadcast everything we saw being filmed

The ship was beautiful on TV as was the background of Catalina Island.

People said they got off mid week in San Francisco

Thanks sammie:) I at first thought it was Cabo but it looked a little on the desert side but of course now that you say Catalina that makes perfect sense. I was just thinking they had to go to a foreign port. Of course they may have also gone to Ensenada. Like any filming on a cruise ship I wish they would have showed a lot more of the ship but with commercials and doing the normal show I guess they did pretty good.

The ship was anchored off Catalina, it was a gorgeous day, the sea was so blue and the ship looked like a million dollars. Beautiful ship as is the sister Diamond Princess. We also watched them film a challenge the day before in San Diego at the aft pool. We were pretty sure we were filmed but everything landed on the cutting room floor, it was not shown. We had just come in from a shore excursion to Catalina, sat down at the main pool area and the filming was in progress, they were set up on the very top deck above the pool and we saw them running around with cameras and trays. The ship traveled from LA to Vancouver. I dont know about the laws people are discussing. It seemed like a win win for Princess and the Biggest Loser, you cannot buy this kind of publicity and exposure. I had never watched this show but I've made a point of seeing a few episodes. I'm sure viewers who had never cruised liked what they saw on TV. There is an active thread on the Princess boards about the show, crew and cast. It was a great great cruise, first time we did repositioning

I'm gonna tell you I watched it on TiVo. The ship was beautiful and I saw my aft balcony cabin for next summers' Med cruise on the new Emerald Princess ( a sister ship I believe) Now about the show...how can people watch that. I am not a little guy (6'0" about 205) but to see them all running around and going to the buffet...I agree it must have been torture for them. I would NOT go on a ship if I was dieting (at least I don't think I could)
