private departure lounge

What is the story with the private departure lounge for platinum C&A...how does that work...do they direct you to it..or you just go there?

Also, what does the "onboard event" consist of?

Oh, and "priority checkin"...is that available in Port Canaveral and how does that work? Thanks all! ;)

Private departure lounge means you leave your stateroom and go to a designated spot like the library and have a continental breakfast until your color is called or if you get there early enough and you are diamond you will be escorted off first. Onboard event is a private get together for past platinum and diamond memebers, usually with snacks and all you can drink for about a half hour to 45 minutes. Priority check in is available at every port, it consists of a checkin line designated soley for diamond or platinum members and yes if you have people in your party not diamond or platinum they let you check in together.

We have been through this and here is what to expect. For departure they have a side section of the dining room set up with a continental breakfast. They put an invitation in your cabin that you show at the door. Someone comes in and announces your color departure so you don't have to stress about hearing the PA announcement. On board is a cocktail party with light appetisers and a few welcome backs from the Captain. There is a second one for Plat. & above held separately that has better drinks and food.

Priority check in is a separate room for Platinum and above that has far shorter line and better service.:cool:

Hi- I was on the Voyager last year and we had platnium status. Upon arrival, we were taken right into a separate lounge and check in-- That was GREAT! We were told by our cabin attendant that they did not have a special "departure" for platinum members so we sat waiting with every one else in the lobby area - and nobody told us about the private departure lounge??? As I was pregnant at the time that would have been great but live and learn I guess!

Now my question is this year we are going on Explorer - Do different ships have different policies?? Or did our cabin attendant make a mistake ?? This is the same guy who told my husband that he would get in trouble if he brought an extra bucket of Ice(??) thanks

I am Platinum & have always been escorted off the ship, has it changed now that they just come & tell you to go?? Gee, I always felt so "special" being led off by the LA in front of everyone else still waiting.

soccermom, if you haven't received your invitation for the departure lounge by the last day just check with the Loyalty Ambassador for the location.

KC-----the other way is for the larger ships..........Im sure it will be the way you remember on the Sovereign........if not, we'll find out,wont we??

On SOV we waited in the meeting room outside the LA's desk. It is set up with several rows of chairs and, while not as nice as on other ships, we were walking off at 7:30am.

There was a letter in our cabin on the final day with instructions and white baggage tags.

The departure information is always delivered to our stateroom the day before the cruise ends. We are then instructed where the private departure lounge will be located. Sometimes it's in a section of the main dining room while other times it's in the viking crown lounge. I guess it can be wherever the ship decides. It varies from ship to ship. If you're not sure ask the guest relations/pursers desk.

For us, it was in the Viking Crown Lounge on Grandeur. On Enchantment it was in the main dining room. On Majesty it was in the library.

Last year on Empress it was Portofino's.

Ph, well then that's just 1 more reason for me not to go on a big ship! I like feeling "special"!:D Just hope there won't be a problem with my sister's waiting with me, otherwise I'll be waving as you walk off!
