journey to bermuda

Please can someone help me!! I am looking to book a bermuda cruise on the new ship journey but cannot find any deck plans of the ship or any photos of the cabins. Does anyone know where I can find these? I have rung Celebrity but they were as helpful as a chocolate teapot. I know that this was a renaisance ship which had solid balcony walls on the rear of the ships. As I have the option of an aft cabin was trying to find out if these are being replaced with glass screens as I would imagine it would be difficult to see anything when sitting down if these are left as metal. Any help would be most appreciated.

I'm not sure that all your questions can be answered at this time by any of us because they are going to do a lot of work to the ship after the turnover thus no pictures of the cabins at this time. I would push at Celebrity as much as possible to get the info because they are the only ones who probably have what you are looking for but their land based customer service is lacking.

Hi:

We will be on the Journey in July. We know that the Journey is identical to the Tahitian Princess and the deck layout is essentially the same. There will be some refurbishing and there may be some re-configuation of a few cabins, but it should be 90% the same as the Tahitian. Here is a link

We just sailed on an aft balcony on Oceania a couple of weeks ago. The lower portion of the balcony is definitely steel and will not, in my opinion, be changed since it is part of the structure of the ship. Never really interfered with our enjoyment of the cabin but it could be an issue to others.

Hi

Here is a link to Pullman who owned the ship right before X bought it.

As a previous posted said, it will change a bit but this should give you some idea of the cabins and public spaces.

We are booked in a CC cabin on the 09/08/07 sailing to Bermuda.

Hope this helps

Lewis

Deck Plans for Journey are on the Celebrity Web site...I checked location of our cabin last night. Cabin pictures are not yet available. I guess since the renovation has not yet occurred. I'm staying tuned for announcement early next year AND for reports from those sailing the first 2 weeks (we sail on the 3rd cruise :))

Celebrity is planning some major reconfiguration of MV Blue Dream (future MV Celebrity Journey), and also of sister MV Blue Moon (future MV Celebrity Quest), before they enter service in the Celebrity fleet. In particular, Celebrity intends to replace forty-eight (48) standard balcony cabins on the alf half of Deck 8 with thirty-two (32) Sky Suites, reducing the capcity of the ship from 742 passengers to 710 passengers (not counting third and fourth berths). You can see this change by comparing the diagram of this deck on Celebrity's web site with the corresponding diagram for MV Royal Princess, nee MV R8, on Princess's web site. Most of the other changes appear to be cosmetic, and basically will referbish and apply Celebrity's branded names (AquaSpa, Online@Celebrity, Michael's Club, etc.) to existing facilities. The current deck plans on Celebrity's web site are obviously preliminary, as they don't show the names of most public spaces, but they do show the locaitons and classes of all passenger cabins, but it's reasonble to expect that Michael's Club will be the lounge abaft of the casino (labelled "Piano Lounge" on the corresponding deck plan for MV Royal Princess) and the Cova Cafe di Milano will be the atrium area on the same deck (labelled "Upper Hall" on the deck plan for MV Royal Princess), as these locations are similar to the locations of the corresponding spaces aboard Celebrity's Millennium calss. The location of Celebrity's acupuncture facility is less obvious, but I hope that it does not displace the card and game room located next to the spa on Deck 9.

I should mention that Renaissance introduced a couple minor changes to the design of the R1 class in MV R6, the last three vessels of this class are not quite identical to the first five. Thus, it's best to use the deck plans for MV Royal Princess (nee MV R8 rather than the deck plans of the earlier vessels. You can get a sense of some of these differences by comparing the deck plans for MV Royal Princess with the deck plans for MV Pacific Princess (nee MV R3) and MV Tahitian Princess (nee MV R4) on Princess's web site.

Thanks for that comparison Norm. It's a bit daunting shuffling back and forth between deck plans on the various sister ships. They do appear a bit different in that our SS 8042 on Journey appears to be in a slightly different location from the cabin with the same number on the comparison ship you suggested. We'll be on the 14-nt 10/27 sailing from Cape Liberty to Miami via a few things in between including Bermuda, Grand Turk, Labadee, Colombia and Panama.

We've sailed the Mercury, Infinity, and Millie on X, and like all of them very much, but just wanted to try one of the smaller ships.

We'll let y'all know how it turns out.
