Suite Perks

Does anyone know if Royal Caribbean provides any perks to people who book a suite? I was curious about embarkation and disembarkation benefits? On disembarkation, I have heard that some cruise lines provide suite passengers with VIP disembarkation to leave the ship early?

We always sail in an OS and for categories GS and above, you'll get a special line to check in and priority boarding. I've never heard of (nor received) any priorty disembarkation as it's determined when you fly out. Anybody can self disembark if they're willing to leave at 6:30am with their own luggage.

To be honest, the only folks who get priority disembarkation are those travelling in a wheelchair and their families. The running joke on Freedom was that we would feign a foot injury requiring a wheelchair so we can get head of the line with our families. There were many folks using wheelchairs that I had seen onboard walking around normally all week.

I don't understand the policy however. Why would someone get to get head of the line just because they travel in a wheelchair?

HI MARK!!!

The truth is...if you are in a Grand Suite, Owners or Royal Suite...you end up with a very good cabin. The suites are gorgeous. The perks are pretty few and getting fewer. The Concierge Lounge is a nice treat and the Concierge can help at times and I guess some of the towels and robes are better. Other than that...I don't see much difference...the cabin service is the same. You can (sometimes) get a better table in the Dining room, if one is available. Like CruisePRN said...the Diamond Plus members seem to do just as well as the Suite guests. If you want a really nice cabin then go for it.

Just because you are disabled does not allow you off earlier. It still depends on when your flight is or tour. Due to low inside once I was nearly the last person off and I use a scooter. We do, however, get priority boarding with use of the elevators.

No special perks in a JS - other than a spacious room, nice balcony and two cruise credits. No priority embarkation or disembarking. No robes, no special toiletries. Although, just being on a ship in the warm sunny seas is way better than being at work any day - even if your cabin is in steerage!

We've always gotten "upgraded" toiletries in our JS's-- and robes, sometimes (that seems to be "hit or miss") but it's certainly not a deal-breaker! The biggest perk is the space you get in the larger rooms. If I'm on vacations, I don't want "closet" accomodations--which is what a regular cabin feels like, to me!

I am a diamond member of RCCL so getting on the ship is a breeze. However, I am looking at a 12:37 return flight from Ft Lauderdale on a cruise out of Ft Lauderdale and would not want to risk being late at the airport and miss the flight...that is why I was wondering about disembarkation perks...my next lfight would be at 3PM

Mark, you will be fine in any cabin then. If you are a diamond member, they have a special disembarkment area (normally library or part of an unused dining room) they will have coffee, tea, pastries, juice, etc. and as soon as the ship is cleared, the loyalty ambassador will escort you off the ship. We have been off as early as 7:15am, normally though, it's around 8:00am. Have a blast.

If you can carry all of your own luggage you can take advantage of express disembarkation, or you can use the lavendar tags for Diamond members - those do not, however, guarantee you first off the ship - they will still disembark you based upon your flight time within the privileged group (although that may be ship-dependent, I'm talking about Jewel). Express goes first, then early flights, with Diamond sprinkled in there. I think "early" is defined as before 11:00, so you're probably looking at being off the ship about 2 hours after you dock.

Depending on the airline, I think that your flight also qualifies for the luggage valet program (I recall that it's for flights after noon) - we paid $10pp to have our boarding passes and airline luggage tags issued - upon disembarkation, we picked up our bags, took them through customs and handed them to somebody who took them to FLL, not to be seen again until we landed at LAX. You sign up for the program in advance, and it's a great time-saver - you can't check in for your flight more than 2 hours ahead, so FLL was littered with pax and their luggage with no place to go. Not having to deal with that and being able to go straight to the gate w/o checking in was a great timesaver and convenience.

We stayed in a Grand Suite on our most recent cruise. We didn't receive any special perks that we wouldn't have already received as Diamond members. Oh yes, we did receive two cruise credits. But we could have received that in a junior suite also. We loved the room though.

Not always the case and I believe that it goes by ship. On the Jewel a few weeks ago, Diamond/+ were offered the Vortex lounge up in the Viking Crown as a place to wait until your color was called. There was no priority debarkation for us. The first ones off were the Express debarkation folks and that started around 8:30. Now on the Navigator and Sovereign, we were always off very early. 7-7:30 at the latest.

I booked my first ever Grand Suite on board Liberty Of The seas for the 10/27/07!!! I am looking forward to enjoying the extra space I will have, I usually book a balcony but I had to book a GS this time around.

You will love the GS. Very roomy and nice. Loved the extra space in the bathroom. If only the room had the new bedding then all would have been great.:)
