I have a balcony stateroom booked, 6244. I looked at the deck plans and see that the main show lounge is directly beneath my room. I could move to the back of the ship, 6434 but that is above the main show lounge.

Is either of these an issue as far as the noise level from the show room? I'm not TOO concerned because I'm a late night person, but just wondering.

I've only been on one cruise before and we were midship. Are there any pros or cons related to aft or forward cabins?

I'm leaning toward movign to 6434 because it is closer to my daughter's stateroom, closer to the night club but it's not really a big deal.

NOTE: after looking more closely at the decks plans, it appears that most everything is Aft or closer to the Aft staterooms than they would be if I was in the very front.

So unless someone gives me a good reason not to, I'm moving . Any comments/suggestions are welcome.

My reasons:

closer to:

the Aft pool (adults only I hope)

the night club

daughter's room

Monet dining room

casino

Alfred's bar

jazz bar

piano bar

wine bar

Of course some of the names will change in October but I'm sure the locals will be the same

I'd rather be over the main theatre than the aft lounge, but I'm not a night-owl.

Proximity to food isn't a plus for me, either. :p In fact, I take the stairs the entire cruise. I had a porthole on Main on Glory, and it was a loooong walk and lots of stairs up to the Lido deck multiple times daily. Keeps me from gaining weight while cruising, though.

I'm always amazed at how many people apparently will stand and wait for an elevator only to go one deck/floor. I often take off up the stairs and climb several decks, then stand and wait for my friends to finally arrive via elevator.

I also prefer lower and more midship because of less motion and there generally is more motion forward than aft.

Anyway, you seem to already know the plusses & minuses of each, so if you think you'd prefer the aft cabin, go for it!

Tess have you thought about moving to deck 7. Most of us are on the same cruise as you and we are on deck 7. We chose this deck as 6 and 8 insullate us from noise above and bellow. Hope we didn't scare you away from our thread. We are in the aft I have the corner aft 7440 and Steve has 7445. You and your cruisers will be more than welcome to join us we usually move down to the balconies after sail away. Rick

No, you didn't scare me away from your thread!!

I considered moving to 7 and the extra $40 or so is fine with me.. but not sure my cabin mates would be ok with it or not.. I'll check.

Well, I'm booked on her! It's not like my credit card needed the hit of a solo double deposit today, what with DDs wedding and my B2B coming up.

But I needed to jump on the cabin I wanted.

Really looking forward to seeing the ship. I am disappointed that she won't be getting the Serenity area when she's in drydock. I don't really understand why not. I spent quite a lot of time out there on Glory. Those giant, round loungers right up in the bow were great.

Oh well. It's mostly port days anyway. I'll survive. :p

There are tables and chairs all around this area, near the pizza and grill where I often sit.. and families could sit. I have not seen them enforce not laying on the lounge chairs by the aft pool. This must be new.

We just got off on Sunday and noticed kids in the lounge chairs by the aft pool. Thought it was odd since the pool was for adults only.

Ive heard both things while cruising on this ship. Some times they say the sign is only for the hot tubs and the aft pool is not adult only. Even the employees seem confused, yes or no.

Yes, but what is done on one ship isn't necessarily done on another. That's part of the issue. The policies aren't uniformly enforced on any particular ship, let alone fleetwide!

Kids were told to leave the adult pool on Miracle both times I was on her, and the Serenity hot tubs on Fascination. But that doesn't mean it happens on all ships on all sailings.

One would think "adults only" applies to the area and not just the water!

The aft pool is for adults only, as well as the aft hot tubs. The staff on Liberty (same deck plan) was quick to run off the kids.

And I have seen teens in the aft pool on Conquest and no one said a word and when I asked I was told only the hot tubs were adults only.

The sign is not in a clear place to know its the pool or not, since its attached to the hot tubs.

Ive been on Conquest at least 5 times and have observed this pool more than once. I sit back there and read a lot.

Oh, that would make me happy! Those huge round loungers are so nice! It really isn't very serene, though. The people in the hot tubs up above can be very loud (why, oh why, do people sitting two feet from each other need to BELLOW so that they can be heard a half mile away?) and if you're away from the bow, you can hear all the noise from the giant TV and poolside activities.

Still, it's usually very nice up there in the morning.

Here's how it looked on Glory...

I have a question about the outside promenade deck on Lobby deck...

do they put loungers out? This is something I whined about regularly - that my early Carnival cruises didn't have an outdoor deck with seating other than the Lido areas. I'd prefer one that wraps around the entire ship, but I know this class doesn't have them.

When I was on Glory, Triumph and Victory, there were no chairs out there. Well, on Glory last year, they had them but they were stacked up, or only on the shady side on the way to Bermuda and it was very cool.

I think this is a great place to get away from the crowds and find either shade or sun, depending on the time of day and the temps.

According to the Carnival website and John Heald sems that Conquest will be getting an actual Serenity deck on deck 11 forward. Guess we wil all find out after October!

We're cruising on Conquest the first week after dry dock. I'll check it all out and let you all know! :D

Will the pools be available the first night? Swimsuits for the kiddos in carry on or packed.

The last time I cruised on the Conquest, it was docking in Galveston after Katrina. The pools were filled and ready to go upon boarding. Previous cruise out of NOLA had the pools closed and empty until the next morning.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am not sure how to post an inquiry so that it shows up at the correct place. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

My question is has anyone been in conquest cabins 7205 or 7203? What are they like? They are listed on our confirmation as inside but we told that they had a window.

Thanks,

Joyce

There are various threads about those cabins. They used to be classified as oceanview, but they aren't, really. They overlook the not-very-secret decks out front. You cannot see the ocean from the cabin window which is why they reclassified them as interior cabins.

Look at the deck plans. You can see that the hallway leads out to those open decks. It's very nice to go out there in the morning and watch the ship pull into port.

They have their disadvantages, though. I was in 7205 on Victory.

Again, look at the deck plans. That cabin is handicap modified and the layout is very strange. It isn't nearly as large as it looks on the deck plans. The beds do NOT go together. That wasn't the issue for me, as I sail with DD. My problem was the very, very loud door slamming that seemed to go on all night with people going out to that public deck.

All anyone has to do is open one door, close it, then open the second. That prevents the wind-tunnel effect from SLAMMING the door every time.

The head of this first bed is basically against the hallway wall. The side of the bed is along the hull wall. Every time the door slammed, I was jolted awake.

This is the foot of the 2nd bed, which is under the window.

I understand that the central cabins - the non-hc modified cabins are nice.

But unless you need the hc modified, I would not recommend booking 7205.

And realize that it is a long, long walk back to the Lido buffet! That part I didn't mind. I try to walk as much as possible, and always take the stairs on a cruise to offset some caloric consumption.

I liked the cabin on Victory, just not the door slamming issue. But it was a tight squeeze there. If the cabin has a flat-screen tv, maybe it isn't so bad.

But the bathroom is big! Like I said, those end cabins are HC modified. Bathroom has a roll-in shower with a seat.

Be aware that if you don't "need" the HC cabin that they can bump you if someone needing the access requires it.

We love the ocean view cabins on the bottom floors. They are 220 Sq ft. and it's a great size.

I'm bummed because I just found out we are sailing before the upgrade :(

Oh well, we plan to have a wonderful time anyway!

We are considering the Sunshine next December.... the waterfalls looks awesome!
