Just wondering if with the ginormity (don't think this is a word for really really big but I am using it) of the new ships, they would ever think about 2 casinos - one smoking and one non smoking??

Now THERE is a good idea!!!

I think it would be great...and good for Carnival...if they did have "2" places to gamble...maybe even just a slots room for non smokers

I really dislike being wedged in between 2 smokers at a machine or even worse have a smokers smoking friend/spouse behind me puffing away LOL

It would be easy to design a new ship with 2 casino areas seperated and that would be a lot better for everyone

as a Floridian I find it "weird" to even see people smoke indoors !

Well I hope you are planning on spending more than that because all of the nonsmokers will have to lose what the smokers did because they probably will book elsewhere.

We can only hope they book elsewhere! Go ahead flameaway.

I usually can't bear to be in the casino long enough to lose my roll of nickels :) so this is excellent news. I hope it spreads fleetwide before our Legend cruise next year.

OT - I love Michael Mullane and have sailed twice with him and his wife, Jeni. I can't believe they put such a talented guy on a 3 / 4 night cruise ship!

FYI,

I called Carnival today to book the Paradise for 12/07. The PVP I talked to (new to me as my old one left) flatly denied this information. She said that if the Paradise casino had gone smokeless, they would be the first to know. Even when I told her I had read an email from the CD, she implied it was a lie as they (I assume PVP's) would have known. Never could convince her otherwise. She did mention that they have now made all the area around the pool smokefree which I didn't realize. In fact when I sat briefly on a chair by the pool, there was a full ashtray under my chair. Someone needs to enlighten PVP's, or at least this one...I tried but didn't do it!

I called about the Elation after it was mentioned on CC about her moving to the west coast and was told Carnival had no plans to change her itinerary. I called back about 20 minutes later and was told by someone else it had been announced that morning.

I called the day after I heard about no more F-decks starting Feb 22nd and was told that the PVP had heard nothing about that.

Don't trust PVP's, they really have no idea what they are talking about. And it's not just Carnival either.

If the entire U.S.A. were to go non smoking in ALL public places (except your home and car if no kids are present) then smokers would have to quit to cruise or vacation. I know they say they won't quit or won't cruise but I don't see that happening...... Do I want that, yes.... Do I think it will happen anytime soon, no.... We need much more govt. support and medical support with both anti smoking programs and meds to help smokers quit. It's an addiction and not easily done....But it needs to be done.. Second hand smoke kills and their right to smoke should not out weigh or be anymore important than my right to be in a public place and be healthy......I hope I see these restrictions in my lifetime.......

Your Kidding right? You are complaining about smoking. lol. You live in Santa Clarita as I do. For one you can go to any restraunt as there is no Smoking and all amusement parks are non smoking Parks except for a few designated areas and all Bars and even the Malls are smokeless.

And there are several Cities that are non smoking so maybe you should move there if smoking bothers you that much.

This would be a valid complaint if you lived in another state where smoking is allowed at all Public places, But California has very tough laws on smoking at public places.

So exactly what public places are you talking about that is making you hate smokers so badly?

Your right.... Our city has very little smoking allowed in public places.... And I enjoy that.... But I'm talking about other states (outside of California) if I go on vacation and cruise lines... Can't even partake in the casino due to the smoking.. And that's the topic of this thread... The Paradise going non smoking and I was very excited about that.... Finally a cruise line/ship offering a non smoking casino....

Hate smokers? No. Some of my family smokes... But again, their right to smoke shouldn't be allowed to override the health of others.... They can smoke in their home or their car or out in the wild blue yonder if done safely.......

Im new to all this. Are there any cruise ships that are totally smoke free?

Just curious.

Tim

Not that I know of... at least mass market. I think there is a high end that has very restricted smoking? Not sure though...

Funny, but the big no-smoking sign on the side of the Paradise (the cigarette with a slash through it) is still visible. It's like they look a big can out white-out and covered it up, but you can still see the outline. As a non-smoker, when I saw this I said that the idea of a non-smoking ship was great. The smokers in our group obviously voiced the opposite feeling. Well, there's no pleasing everyone. I have to say, the casino and the Rotterdam Bar were the only places on-board the Paradise that were offensive. Since there were other bars and I don't gamble, it wasn't a problem.

On the March 5th Paradise cruise (a 4-day one) the casino was NOT smoke-free. I traveled with 14 women, some of whom smoked in the casino every night. And, I came back to my cabin smelling like an ashtray the night I joined them. Maybe the trial has ended?

So I guess the experiment is Over.

  • 8 years later...

I'm not a smoker anymore..14 years quit. But I can tell you the one thing that bugs me is I understand that need to smoke what I do not understand is chain smoking one right after the other..put one out light one up put one out light one up...ugh ...I think the only smoke free casino I've seen that's made it is the Palace Casino Resort in Biloxi. I loved it. I think the casinos can suck that smoke out with the right air systems but once again it's a money thing...there has to be a happy medium...

This thread is 9 years old :)

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

I don't know why people do stuff like this. There's much more recent and still relevant threads about smoking onboard. The Paradise casino hasn't been smoke free in over a decade, so the thread title is totally NOT relevant.
