Paradise Casino is going Smokeless

When the Paradise was smoke free she was not very profitable. It made it nearly impossible to book groups other than those sponsored by the cancer association and some anonymous groups avoiding vices (if there was even 1 smoker they booked elsewhere). Mostly families and fares were way below the other cruises with lower auxiliary income from casino, alcohol etc (but shore excursions were up). Also, as others have stated, gamblers are more likely to be smokers and/or drinkers. It was also VERY difficult to find crew to work onboard as many are smokers (husband worked onboard so I spent dozens of cruises on her when she was smoke free)... I personally loved it and applaude them for trying, but they are a business so gotta make money. It was great publicity so they kept it for a while... But hopefully, someday soon, we can look for smoke free to be the norm, not an experiment.

I'm not a smoker anymore..14 years quit. But I can tell you the one thing that bugs me is I understand that need to smoke what I do not understand is chain smoking one right after the other..put one out light one up put one out light one up...ugh ...I think the only smoke free casino I've seen that's made it is the Palace Casino Resort in Biloxi. I loved it. I think the casinos can suck that smoke out with the right air systems but once again it's a money thing...there has to be a happy medium...

Why in the world would you post on a nine year old thread instead of just starting a new one.

Here's a list:

Calder Casino and Race Course in Miami Gardens

Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino in Hallandale Beach

Hialeah Park Race Track and Casino in Hialeah

Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale Beach

The Isle Casino in Pompano Beach

Magic City Casino in Miami

To answer your question, YES. I have been to ALL of them on numerous occassions throughout the past 6 years. They're always packed...day, night, weekday, weekend.

By Florida state law (clean air act) all the horse and dog tracks must be smoke free.

Funny that it applies there, but not to the Hard Rock Cafe (where food is served) within the Seminole casinos. I think that takes that sovereign nation thing a bit too far!
