Paradise Casino is going Smokeless

I'm not a smoker anymore..14 years quit. But I can tell you the one thing that bugs me is I understand that need to smoke what I do not understand is chain smoking one right after the other..put one out light one up put one out light one up...ugh ...I think the only smoke free casino I've seen that's made it is the Palace Casino Resort in Biloxi. I loved it. I think the casinos can suck that smoke out with the right air systems but once again it's a money thing...there has to be a happy medium...

Was your post a deliberate one to bring in the smoking subject? You were on Paradise in 2015, January 2016, and due again on the 19th. So, to resurrect this thread was on purpose:mad:

My thoughts: I think if Carnival promoted a one night, smoke free environment in the Casino, they would rake in the cash from gamblers. There are so many people that would either a) spend much more time in the casino without smoke or b) come to the casino they had been avoiding because of the smoke. I don't mind sitting in the casino as a non-smoker but my fiance won't spend much time in there with me or on her own. The one thing I do hate is the morning after my clothes are repulsive and I need to wash my hair 2x because of the stench.

Sure, the smoking/drinking crowd are a HUGE part of the Casino revenue, but by giving one night per sailing the revenue would be even bigger on that night.

It can be done because Holland America makes their casinos non-smoking on formal nights and it actually works. I can't smell the smoke and the casinos are still full. Wish Carnival would try it. Yes, I got fooled on this thread too. I wondered when the Paradise went to LA and when she went to 3 and 4 day cruises.

Perhaps full on that night because of it, but would it be full of hard core gamblers for the whole week?

Every land-based casino in Delaware and Florida (except the Seminole owned properties) are 100% smoke-free. Guess what...they're all packed and raking in the cash.

What casinos are in Florida besides the Seminoles? And if there are some, you say they are packed. Have you been to them ALL?

Here's a list:

Calder Casino and Race Course in Miami Gardens

Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino in Hallandale Beach

Hialeah Park Race Track and Casino in Hialeah

Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale Beach

The Isle Casino in Pompano Beach

Magic City Casino in Miami

To answer your question, YES. I have been to ALL of them on numerous occassions throughout the past 6 years. They're always packed...day, night, weekday, weekend.

Looks like you dug up a really old post...why?

Nothing against smokers - I used to be one and have friends that are.

Funny how they chose Paradise for this. My very first cruise was on Paradise and in 2003 it was the first 100% non-smoking ship in the fleet. It was packed every sailing.......for awhile.......

Then the bookings started to dwindle, the revenue stream was hit...Carnival realized it was reducing it's customer base, and BAM!!! Smoking was allowed again and the experiment was over.

It doesn't bother me in any way this comes down, but for those expecting this to be a trend, "I wouldn't bet on it"

Yeah, why? It's really confusing when people resurrect these things. I wish CC would close threads to new posts after a period of time like Trip Advisor does.

I agree. Please moderators, close these old threads after time goes by.

I made it to the middle of page 2 before I noticed this thread was not from February of THIS YEAR !

Oh well... eventually most ships will have smoke free casinos (enjoying the fresh air in the Equinox casino which we're now on). It may take another 5-10 years, but it will happen on most lines.

Perhaps I'll mark my calendar for a few years out, and then come back and post here... lol

The smoking area is 5 stools at the bar by the casino so people stand up there to smoke. The bar has about 25 stools. They need to have a place indoors for smoking.

On the Conquest class ships there is a bar right across from the Piano bar on Deck 5 that is smoking.

On the Glory in January and February, they were trying out air cleaners and smoke eating machines, I thought they worked well.
