kruzerci Posted February 12, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2007 What is Mustard of the Seas? I think people are referring to Jewel of the Seas maybe... but why? Thanks, sorry for the stupid question, I must have missed something :p !
CruisesOnMyMind Posted February 12, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2007 hmm, Not a stupid question,,,I wonder myself. It might have to do with the the lifeboat drill and the MUSTER station, that has become the MUSTARD station. With passengers taking packets of mustard to the muster station. If I didn't have a headache before I do now. LOL

erin_cruisers Posted February 12, 2007 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2007 hmm, ...If I didn't have a headache before I do now. LOL Not only that, but try reading the first few pages, and then last few pages and see if they have anything in common. Thats why I was so confused until I too read the pages (indicated by Merion_mom). Thank you for asking -- I was also wondering....What the heck am I doing reading all this now? I leave for Fort Lauderdale in THREE DAYS for my cruise on SATURDAY and I cannot focus at all! NO! NO, don't do it!! :p You won't make it! After about 20 pages, your eyes will be permanently crossed, and you will miss your cruise. Wait for the book or the movie. :D Page 22 Post #425 and away it went to still more enjoyment for everyone Yes, it's pure madcap mayhem! MsWitty1 Posted February 12, 2007 #12 Share Posted February 12, 2007 Mommabean - after reading 200 + pages, the "reader's digest" version is some people with a great sense of humor and a love of cruises, started a thread to joke about what is wrong with cruises. Things such as "why do they make us get off at the end, that's rude". In the middle of the thread someone joked about going to the "muster drill" and thinking they were going to be served mustar"d" and pretzels. From there all sense was lost! They started talking about starting a business of selling mustard snacks. They said the whistle on the life vest is to call the mustard/pretzel cart, the light on the life vest is so they know why they have servered already, the yellow stains on the vests are obviously from sloppy people who ate the mustard, and so forth. If you have a few days, it is pretty funny. What is even funnier is that some people who read their posts thought they were serious. Angie
madforcruising Posted February 12, 2007 #13 Share Posted February 12, 2007 :D TRY! :D First try:;) There once was a cool bunch of cruisers Who, fed up with whiney-face losers, Created a thread With fake problems instead And came up with some absolute doozers But in reading through page after page I learn that it's now all the rage To use condiment themes For the Cruise of our dreams And so mustard now takes center stage Although I must sadly admit I don't know how well I would fit On a mustard-themed cruise Since it's mayo I choose I have greatly enjoyed all your wit
madforcruising Posted February 12, 2007 #14 Share Posted February 12, 2007 :D TRY! :D Second try:;) A tribute... A cruiser once posted his notion Of pleasantly sailing the ocean Free of those who would whine At his favorite cruise line Never knowing what he set in motion His thread grew and grew Splitting posters in two Between those who did, and did not get it Ten reasons gave rise To enormous thread size And a mustard hued ship to his credit And thus our OP became Captain With staff and crew ready for action Come aboard, have much fun Real complaining's not done Or the cannon will cause your extraction
madforcruising Posted February 12, 2007 #15 Share Posted February 12, 2007 Both are not my creation but tributes from MOS crew members. Ms Witty´s explanation is pretty good too.
Merion_Mom Posted February 12, 2007 #16 Share Posted February 12, 2007 After Gunnar started the "whining about RC" part of the thread, the original intent, we just got carried away. One of the "fun topics" was the misuse and mispronunciation of common cruise-related words. Steward..........Stewart Captain Speaking ("This is your Captain Speaking") Next thing you knew, it was Mustard Drill. Then we had to discuss what KIND of mustard, and how we would start up a concession to amuse and feed our fellow passengers during the boring drill................. mommabean Posted February 12, 2007 #17 Share Posted February 12, 2007 Those WERE very good definitions. It's more than just a meaning...it's a whole concept that must be understood. It is sinking in now. Thank you! As for "Captain Speaking" - I do remember reading about him. Oh, how I wish I could meet him. ;) So, is a MOS cruise one that consists of those who "get it"? The ones from that original thread where it is all explained in detail?
mommabean Posted February 12, 2007 #18 Share Posted February 12, 2007 And is the "life boat" the place where women go to give birth who have snuck their term pregnancies on board? Some people will sneak anything on board against the rules. Or do life boats have nothing to do with mustard drills?
