Live from Majesty - NO free internet

Hi to all, Contrary to what we heard there is no free internet access in any of the cabins - suites included. The purser's desk said that was only available during the 2 day cruise over the weekend and that was in all cabins, not just suites. Free internet access beyond the available loyalty C&A coupons is not in the plans according to the purser's desk.

The ship is quite nice with a lot of use of red which is my favorite color so it meets my approval. The moonlight dining room uses a combination of neutral colors and is quite elegant looking for a little single story dining room.

The biggest surprise to me is that on this, my 3rd Majesty cruise I have the very same cabin steward again - Irvin Letren. He found it just as funny as I did. He does a great job. All 3 times I've been in different sections of the ship and it's an odd coincidence that I've have the same steward.

I made a point to notice how people dressed going into the dining room. WOW! I never would have believed it but there must be more people wearing jeans than dressing nicely. Some jeans are downright ratty and some are actually wearing jean shorts...and I don't mean men. OH well, it doesn't bother me. We have charming table mates who dressed fabulously. The men even wore jackets the first night. They are from Naples FL and have been on the Majesty of the Seas 7 times.

Boy is the wi-fi SLOWWWWWW. I won't be doing this much.

The show "Signed, Sealed, Delivered was very well done. The dancers did a good job of regaining their footing in quite rocky seas. One of our traveling companions felt sick enough to go to her cabin - she didn't take the sea sick pills I overed prior to departure.

The singers were all especially good in this cast. Usually there is one who is off but not this time.

DH won $37 off of playing $20 in the casino right off. He's there again now hopefully not donating it back. I got my $6 free for the 3 coupons in the C&A coupon booklet. The diamond booklet is quite nice with free Seattle's best, free bar drink, free photo, free Ben and Jerry's and nice discounts, too. It's version 9 now. But there is no free coupon for the new Johnny Rockets.

The biggest disappointments to me about the refurbishment are that the champagne lounge is gone and it's rather boring in that section of the ship now with only conference rooms. And I really did like the windjammer more when it was a buffet line with the 2 huge waterfalls. No more waterfalls - so sad. And the upstairs dining at the very front is gone due to the addition of JRs and the compass deli. The pizza in Sorrentos is slightly improved. My DH thinks the windjammer food is seriously improved. It was quite good for buffet food but I do miss the old style of the Majesty windjammer.

The staff as usual is extremely friendly.

I have my doubts as to whether we will stop tomorrow in Coco Cay. The room is creaking as I type this due to the rocky seas. Maybe it will calm down by tomorrow.

I have a massage scheduled for 8am tomorrow.

I took pics of the AO area for the CC member who requested it. It's a cute area.

I may not log on again during the trip - these message is using up a lot of time. I only hope I don't get the white screen from CC when I hit enter.

I'll post pics and tell more upon my return. Bye for now.

Major bummer. Why didn't you wave a copy of the article in the face of the Chief Purser to see if you could change his mind? ;)

But there is no free coupon for the new Johnny Rockets.
I hope that you do come back on line and see this, Gina.

This happened on the Sovereign, too, after they added JR. They didn't have the coupons in the booklets, because they were just using the old booklets. (waste not, want not). But they had SEPARATE coupons. Try going to the Guest Relations desk and asking. Can't hurt.

Is there a Dueling pianos act on board?
Now, George, you *know* that these are only on the Sovereign and Monarch! ;) :)

Miss brainless here used up most of my free minutes here last night typing. Why didn't I have the brains to type up my post off line and then copy and paste it? I am using my own laptop in my own room so that would have been the wise decision.

This cruise couldn't be more interesting for me. We are trying to sell our house. Who did we run into in the casino? Our best prospective buyers. I knew they were going away for the weekend and they knew we were, too. None of us mentioned where. So, here we are together on the ship.

I went for a walk on deck 7 this morning at 7am. That is where the jogging/walking path is located. They have no treadmills on this ship. The fitness center has a very low ceiling and they told me that the treadmills they ordered would cause people to possibly hit their head. So, they sent them back and have new lower profile treadmills on order - allegedly.

My robes arrived last night during the evening bed turn-down as I expected. My bathroom amenities also came at that time. Yes, there are still 3 bottles of products. Shampoo, body wash and lotion. No lipbalm and no bath scrubby thing. And the bottles are the tiny size like in hotels rather than the previous full size bottles. Then this morning when the room was made up, another little bottle of shampoo and body wash were left along with a shower cap and the scrubby thing.

I got pizza last night after 11. That was a real disappointment. They have the nice large Sorrentos counter and when I got there the last piece of pizza had just been taken and they were only then putting in more pizza. Someone needs to get it together with their organizational skills. They know when they are getting low on pizza and should have had some in ready to come out again. I can say Carnival is much better in their pizza making abilities.

I did stop by the schooner bar to hear the piano player. I only heard one song but the people around the piano were so drunk and loud that I had to leave. The piano player didn't sound like his singing was on the level of the player I heard on Enchantment. But maybe it was hard to sing over the loud drunk people.

The breakfast in the Windjammer this morning was very nice. The omelet station wasn't busy at 7:30 and mine was very tasty with all the things I like. There was no half and half to be found for the coffee. Only milk on non-dairy creamer. But there is no splenda readily available everywhere on the ship.

The seas really smoothed out during the night so Coco Cay was not canceled after all. So far, I'm 3 for 3 with my cruises to Coco Cay not being canceled.

Before I forget...I caught Henry hanging around outside my door this morning.

I had a massage at 8am. It was the most interesting massage I've ever had. I was to have a woman but a man was there sceduled for a massage at the same time and he wasn't about to let a mail massage therapist touch him so that asked me if I'd switch. That was fine with me. I'm not picky. Horacio gave me the works even though I only paid for a basic full body massage. I got aromatherapy, hot stones, and some interesting sound treatment. I kept thinking I heard the sound of wind blowing through the rocks on the edge of the sea. I later realized it was Horacio making the sounds when he asked if it was OK for him to breath like that. Or maybe he said, "is my breathing bothering you". I don't remember the exact wording but I was surprised to find out it wasn't part of the recorded effects. :) He even dinged a little bell around the room when he was done. How funny. I enjoyed the experience though especially since I used my 20% off C&A booklet coupon.

It was chilly on the tender ride over to Coco Cay. But the weather is overall really nice since it's not unbearably hot. We walked the nature trail all the way to the other end of the island. The sign said to keep off the rocks. But there were two nice lounge chairs up on the rocks waiting for us. We stayed briefly and then walked back to the barbeque lunch. All the usual food was very tasty. They have a nice selection of meats and salads.

Formal night was really nice. There were a lot of Japanese people dressed in traditional clothing and they were all beautiful. Even a man was dressed in a traditional robe like outfit. I did not notice any jeans in the dining room. Maybe they were all dirty from last night.

Do to an approaching cold front the captain decided to get us into Nassau by midnight on Saturday. We were allowed off the ship as soon as we cleared customs. We and the couple we are traveling with took a taxi over to Atlantis and walked around looking at the aquariums. We walked through the casino where DH made a quick $40 donation to the roulette table. He said he likes the ship's casino better. :)

Today we will catch the number 10 jitney and go eat lunch at the Fish Fry.

And the current cruise director is Jimmy Rhodes. I didn't think the Love and Marriage game show was one of the funnier ones. Not because of the CD but because the audience voted for the wrong middle couple. The newlyweds and the old couple were quite cute and funny though.

Can anyone tell me if there is a steam room available on Majesty? I think the last time on that ship it was a small enclosed plastic capsule-type space. Got the job done, but... I'm hoping for an upgrade. Anyone know??

Also, cost of massage?

My sister and I are hoping to go soon, and spa and sun are our priorities.

thanks!!!

Mommabean - thanks for the great info. How is Freeze priced? Is it one flat price like Johnny Rockets, or is it individually priced?

Are there safes in the rooms? Refrigerators? Would love to see the compasses when you get home and settled (if possible).

Thanks for the reviews!

Lots of baseball caps and jeans the last night in the dining room.

David Mann at the piano in the Schooner didn't intrigue me.

The best hiding place for coupons is under the Bible. No one will mess with it when they clean the room.

I'll answer anything else when I get home. The party is almost over. :(

The internet connection couple with the error prone CC software is SLOWWWWW!

Funny you should say that, David Mann was on our last Majesty Cruise, a good piano player, but can't sing. On our Cruise he shared the Schooner Bar with Vocal Guitarist, Shane Tapper, awesome. When in came time for Shane to hand over to David, people asked for 1 more song, and David's response was, NO your time is up, It's my turn now. Very rude and unprofessional, so much so that everyone was shouting, get off, we want the guitar guy back. Several people even complained to the CD, which resulted in David being the early time slot, and Shane playing into the early morning. Suprised that David is still there, I know that Shane is now on the Navigator and will be going to the Adventure in May.:)

Just off this cruise, and am camped out at the airport waiting for our flight home.

All I can say is: what mommabean said!

The ship is beautiful, the staff friendly.

Mommabean, I looked for you! Were you at the Platinum-Diamond party?

Yes, I was there. I kept looking around for someone who looked 37 but everyone looked either older or younger to me. I had no idea who I was looking for since I had no description. I DID have my purple purse with me.

I am always disappointed with the party time on this ship since we have the early 6pm seating. We just barely get there and we have to leave for dinner.

We were by the window with 2 other couples who invited us to join them.

Apparently I offended a woman up at the appetizer table. She was filling up 2 plates full of fool. I, looking at the serving try and not her plates, said, "the meal before the meal." After all they are always feeding us and we were just about to eat dinner. My husband said that she said, "this if for my table." Apparently she thought I was commenting on the amount of food she was taking. :o

That was my exact thought. He plays piano very well but his singing was very off - no good. When I walked through once, he was playing the "Green Acres" theme song which wasn't my idea of a relaxing enjoyable evening.

He didn't come close to James Barr on my last Enchantment cruise. I never wanted to leave the Schooner when James was there and I was always disappointed when James was done for the evening.
