Vmalcolm Posted March 1, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2007 We were pleased to find penny and 2 cent slots on our last to cruises with Carnival. Does anyone know if Royal Caribbean has them, in particular on the Vision. Thanks, Valerie
Schplinky Posted March 1, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2007 They did on Freedom and Navigator so I would think so. they're not strictly penny slots so much as machines where you can change the denominations up anddown.
sas80 Posted March 1, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 1, 2007 FYI As a former employee of one of the big gaming companies in Las Vegas with the role of actually programming the software for the gaming machines, here is some interesting factoids for you. Penny slots payback on the average of 75% (for every dollar in you get 75 cents bacK) Nickel slots payback 80-85% Quarter slots payback in the low 90% Dollar slots payback in the 97% Multi denominational games (games where the user can select what denomination to play) also follow these precentage paybacks. The gaming companies (IGT, Bally, Konami, Aristocrat, R. Franco, etc) want to reward the slot high rollers (people whom are willing to wager more money) with a higher return. Please note that none of these denominations has a 100% or more payback.... Play craps instead! (that is what I always tell people who ask)
sept10dsm Posted March 1, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2007 On the GOS they had some multidenomination machines. We cruised in Oct. I believe the smallest bet was 5 cents. I did win 1800 nickels on my first roll betting only a nickel and 1 line. I do not bet as a rule. I only put a dollar in the machine and won that. Overall, continuing to make my largest be 5 nickels, I won came out with about $200. I only used the dollar and winnings. I thought that was great. I think you could, if you want bet up to 25 coins and up to I think $5. per coin.
barbarah33 Posted March 1, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 1, 2007 The Sovereign didn't have any penny machines but they did offer a few for 2-cents. (Multi-denominational but 2-cents was as low as they would go.) There weren't too many of them though. After that they went up to nickels - and there were more of those. Italy52 Posted March 1, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 1, 2007 Just got off Vision a couple of weeks ago. They did have 2 cents/5 cents/25 cent machines. We loved the smaller denomination machines as you can play for hours. However, they were the first ones to be snatched up.
Luey Posted March 1, 2007 #7 Share Posted March 1, 2007 SAS80 - Thanks for the information! I may just switch to the dollar machines.:D
Vmalcolm Posted March 1, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted March 1, 2007 Thanks for the info. I sit down with a $20 at the dollars and it's generally gone in a minute or two. I sit down with $20 and the penny machines and play for an hour or more. I do love it when those dollars pay off! Valerie
markf Posted March 2, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 2, 2007 no pennies on AOS--they do have some nickels--but probably only 10-15 machines
tomko2 Posted March 2, 2007 #10 Share Posted March 2, 2007 The Jewel and Explorer both have multi-denonimation machines with 2 cents as an option on some of them.

SAS80Since the ships are not under any US state rules, do you have any idea of the pay outs there? Seems more like 1%! TIA.
Italy52 Posted March 2, 2007 #12 Share Posted March 2, 2007 SAS80Since the ships are not under any US state rules, do you have any idea of the pay outs there? Seems more like 1%! TIA. I am not SAS80, but I can tell you that the machines (all of them) were paying out a LOT on Vision of the Seas 2/11 sailing. I took two Princess cruises to Alaska in '05 & '06 and didn't win one red cent. Took an RCCL a couple of weeks ago and DH and I each won about $100. We played 2 & 5 cent machines and quarters. sellwingri Posted March 3, 2007 #13 Share Posted March 3, 2007 Italy, It's nice to see another Bolingbrook cruiser on these boards! I too have had a lot more luck in Royal Caribbean casinos than those on Princess. Hope to get lucky again on our next cruise in June to Alaska on Radiance. Candleonwater Posted March 3, 2007 #14 Share Posted March 3, 2007 On our Navigator sailing last year I found 3 penny slot machines. They actually were my favorite.

Sue I have had the same comparable experiences on my one Princess cruise and my RC cruises. Bad bad bad luck all week on Princess. Never terrible luck on RC, although some have been better than others. ;)
