I booked in July 2003 for August 2004. Had my choice of cabins, plus kept watching prices and got $600.00 in reductions in January-February. Shortly after the reductions, all balcony cabins and mini-suites were gone. I feel like I got the best of both worlds. The only thing I would have done different was not choose the exact cruise dates until I checked with the TA to see which date I could get shipboard credits.

NCL, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean have Alaska 2005 rates and itineraries out now. Princess is always late with brochures.. when I was a TA they were like "gold" when they did come out but not as much was on line then!

hi everyone:

thanks for all your responses. i'd be happy if princess just had the 2005 info on line without the brochure. the main reason i'm interested in princess is because the regal princess this year is doing a ten day round trip out of san francisco which would be perfect for us as dh doesn't like to fly and it's only a four hour drive to sfo. do they change ships and itineraries that much from year to year?

thanks for all your help.

That's nice! I was also watching for reductions, but my category sold out about 3 weeks after I booked. Well, at least it saves me from having to look all the time.

Are you sure it's for 2005? I talked to them today and they said August. Rates in May.

Caroline,

Do you have the itinerary for the 10-11 day NCL out of Seattle? I just swore I'd never willingly set foot on NCL again, but that sounds really good. Seven days is too short for Alaska!

THANKS!

Thanks. I just checked NCL and found it. I'm in a state of deep confusion on what to do. NCL has four sea days. Princess has paint your own pottery. We love RCCI.

I guess there isn't a wrong choice!
