NCL Mastercard FAQ

My daughter still has one certificate left, and needs to use it. I'm sure she'd appreciate the simplicity of it. Did this mail-in offer apply to everyone? Are there special circumstances?

Yep, we got a letter. Not sure if everyone did or not. We were in the group that had incorrect value certs sent out originally and BoA had to recompute/reissue. Maybe that's part of the difference? The letter mentions that certs ending in FC can be applied via email.

Has anyone here ever tried to bring the upgrade certs to the pier and see if you could get a better than one catagory upgrade for them, based on final availablity? We have used up our valuable certs for an upcoming cruise, and have two (one good for each person) one catagory ugrade certificates left, which we regard as useless. :D I just wondered if anyone had tried to get a valuable (from outside to balcony, etc.) upgrade with these at the pier. I know that is how they were intended to be used, but just wondered if anyone had tried this, and what the result was.

We received the letter as well, but our original certificates were correct. I just assumed the FC at the end of the number stood for Final Certificate. If there is an FC on her cert, she is eligible to send her info via email.

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, the Compass Reward Certificates can only be used by the person who's name is on the certificate, and they must be one of the people in the cabin. Can't you convince your cousin to take a last minute cruise with your someplace? :D Hate to se those certificates go to waste.... http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/cruiser/cmsPages.html?pageId=CompassRewardsFAQ

can she book a cruise for next year? thats what i did, also if she doesn't want use it can she buy casino chips for someone??? i hate to see her lose them, i lost 2 100.00 upgrades obn my next cruise. my agent said ncl is giving u ship credit so i sent them in and got a note saying sorry u can/t use them for credit or even an upgrade on my cruise because i booked a ba;cony so stupid, i feel we got screwed on ncl credit cards

I have no recollection of receiving a letter saying to email in my certs, but my neighbor did receive one and can't seem to locate it. Our final payment is due soon (we're cruising in January). Can someone share the email address we're to use to send in our info electronically?

TIA!

This month's Consumer Reports Magazine (November 2009), which is on news stands now, has an article which rates credit cards (depending on your needs), and has a small list of recommended cards. It appears that they have come up with the same cards listed here on this thread. :D

Now that I have my 2nd new NCL BOA card number and the points they did not give me while I had my "temporary" replacement world points card, can someone tell me again how to get get to the $100 free slot play for my points? Is this $100 value or $100 after I pay $50? Trying to decide if I should use it this time or wait.

Not sure which way my 100 point upgrade certs went but need to find them now because I am curious about the FC. My plan was to save them and use for April cruise. I think if I book by Jan (beginning or end?) that I will be able to at least get the upgrade, maybe.

This thing with the changing the account numbers is nuts. I tried for most of my lunch last week one day to give my electric company my new acct number and I was next in que for the whole time but had to give up. Just found my bill and I missed the early payment discount date and hopefully won't be charged extra because my payment couldn't be processed.

Did it say BOA/NCL or are they trying to get you over to World Points like my temporary card? There were no double NCL points and I had just put OB charges on. Took them 3 weeks to figure it out.

Like everyone else, we're now 'WorldPoints' and now they're trying to get me to switch again (to the BoA World Mastercard)...sorry, I shouldn't have said "BoA NCL" in the subject line--my bad

I received this offer as well. No details on the enhanced features (roadside assistance, travel insurance, etc., warranty) or side by side comparison of why this card is better than our old card. But there is a number to switch it over asap.

I admit to being out of it as far as the "new" terms that replaced compass rewards, but don't we already get 1 point per retail dollar spent, plus double for NCL purchases?

If the new offer includes "• Earn one point per retail dollar spent- rewards start at just 2,500 points1" - what is the enhancement there? Do the rewards start at some higher number for the standard NCL WorldPoints account?

I did a bit of research and came up with the following website to start looking at the rewards under the regular, unupgraded World Points accounts:

https://wwwa.managerewardsonline.bankofamerica.com/RMSapp/Ctl/link?eid=F61D305B

Looks like they have rewards starting at 1,000 points, so I'm still looking for that great feature that makes it worth losing my memorized card number for the new account:D

I'm sure this was asked somewhere in this thread, but I can't make the search function work. I'm wondering if I can book a cruise and pay for it, then pre-pay for shore excursions, then apply my Compass Rewards Certificates. My cruise will only come to around $1600, but I have 4 $500 certificates, and would like to use them all. Anybody done this yet?

Okay, I just got the terms for the World Points program that replaced the Compass Rewards program. According to those terms, if you want to use the points, the cruise must be booked through thier World Points redemption center. Anyone know anything about this? I thought I could use the little points we have earned, and book through NCL or a travel agent. :(( I also heard on the news this evening that BOA plans to start charging its World Point customers a $29/year annual fee. I really didn't want to cancel this card, and just planned to use it less, but this is getting ridiculous!

That's actually not true. You can book your cruise through whoever, you just need to redeem your points through the redemption center. I booked my cruise through my TA as always and then just called the NCL redemption center to redeem my points for the $s off the cruise.

I think the only time you have too book your cruise through them is if you have enough points for a whole "free" cruise (not just for OBC/$s off).

Hope that helps.

Thanks! Yes, that does help. I seriously doubt we will ever have enough points for a free cruise, but hope to have enough for $500 off eventually.... :D

Dh put his NCL card away and didn't use it after the World Points came into play until last month. (We cashed in all his points for $500 compass rewards certificate and 2 upgrade certificates.)

He used his NCL card last month before our Star cruise to purchase tires for his car. Got the statement in the mail when we got home from our cruise and he had been awarded enough points to get $100 OBC on our Nov. Spirit cruise.

Points awarded were way more than the total purchase for the tires.:D

Perhaps these were bonus points for using the new card....

I'm assuming so. Going to use my NCL card on our Nov. Spirit cruise to see if I get the bonus points as well so we can use them for OBC on a future NCL cruise.

Hey, we'll take alla the extra points we can get.

We use a Chase Visa card for everything else these days but a bank manager told DH a couple of days ago thata there are some changes coming down the road on that card as well.:(
