dzboss1 Posted July 29, 2007 Author #127 Share Posted July 29, 2007 Internet is working in the room as pull into NJ, so I decided to post. I forgot to mention that yes, there are live bands playing on the ship...I believe someone asked earlier. Hard to belive this ship will have a whole new group boarding this ship today. Seems when you are on it, that is was no one before you, and certainly no one after to replace you. That is how special you are made to feel when "living" on this ship. Last night we were in the casino (yes, again...still...lol) and then meet up with some CC friends later in the night. So wonderful to have shared the cruise with them too!! I hope you all take advantage of getting to post and read the posts of your cruise mates, and going to the M and M. They can really enhance your cruise experience. The combination of these threads and the cruise is dynamite. Ok, I think they want me to leave the ship soon (how dare they!!) so I need to get ready. Talk to all tomorrow.... onthelam Posted July 29, 2007 #128 Share Posted July 29, 2007 Have a great drive home. I am getting ready to leave for the port. Well it is only 7AM, so I have a few hours but I cannot sleep. I was so excited reading your posts. And just wanted one last look for updates befor I left. Looks like embarkation may be a little stormy. I ;ove a good storm at sea, but hope it will not last too long because I know most people would prefer sunny skies and calm waters. Cheers I'm off to the Explorer:cool:

Robinob Posted July 29, 2007 #135 Share Posted July 29, 2007 I was also on the 7/20 cruise with a few good friends. It was wonderful. Denice and Harv were a riot in Love and Marriage. I won a gift certificate to Portofino at the CC Meet and Mingle get together. We went to P for dinner twice (always). Then myself and three friends went to the galley tour and luncheon (at Portofino's) and let me say the it was one of the highlights of my trip and well worth the $55.00 charge. You get the tour, a three course luncheon, unlimited wine, a cocktail before lunch, the cookbook and lunch with the executive chef and three officers. The luncheon was fabulous and was equal to a Portofino's dinner. Book this as soon as you get on board as it will sell out quickly. The schooner bar had a great piano player and we went there nightly. He needs to add a few different songs each night but we had a great time there. We came in third in Music Trivia and won a pen. (we wanted the coveted keychains) It was Fun. Shows were good but they need to change the production shows. They have been the same for 4 years. They had a group impersonate the Beatles. these guys were really talented. That was the best show in the Palace theater. ( we went to all except Vibology). The iceskating show was brand new. We were the first to see it. It was fantastic. The costumes and scenery was second to none...the skaters were good too. Ports were fun but my excursion in St. Thomas was cancelled. We were a bit annoyed about that so we shopped!!!!! Any other questions?????

We are planning on two Portofino dinners, and maybe this lunch, so it would be very nice! The schooner bar had a great piano player and we went there nightly. Do you remember who it is? They are shaking up a lot of the entertainers this summer. Ports were fun but my excursion in St. Thomas was cancelled. DPurcell58 Posted July 29, 2007 #139 Share Posted July 29, 2007 I'd like to know what you did in Bermuda on Sunday also and also why was your excursion in St. Thomas cancelled? Carol, are you planning on doing a live thread from your cruise???
Robinob Posted July 29, 2007 #140 Share Posted July 29, 2007 In Bermuda we took a cab to Horseshoe Beach. Stayed for a few hours and then walked around the shops in the DockYard. The cab was 14.00 roundtrip. There were plenty at the ship and then again at the Beach. Shops were so so. Some of our friends went to the Dolphin encounter in Dockyard and said it was really fun. They paid 10.00. We were supposed to do the BOB scooters in St. Thomas but it was cancelled due to technical problems with the boat. I have tried two different cruises to do this but haven't yet. I do not know the name of the piano player in Schooner. He is around 60 with gray hair and glasses.
Sugar*Magnolia Posted July 29, 2007 #141 Share Posted July 29, 2007 Hey Denice!!! Safe journey home!! Good to hear you're driving it!! To everyone that sailed, glad you had a great cruise!! To those sailing soon, enjoy her the way we all do! It is like Denice said, the way they make you feel on board is like you were the very first sail and it is all about you- no one before and no one to follow.......... I hope to read some reviews soon!
dzboss1 Posted July 29, 2007 Author #142 Share Posted July 29, 2007 Diva ~~~ Yep, we are driving it. I am in the car with limited battery time left on the laptop. This should have been a 10 1/2 hour drive, but will be over 13 hours when done. We will not be home till after midnight..the weather and traffic is HORRIBLE!!! This sucks, but better than the train for sure!! I will be straight out tomorrow with picking up the animals, and laundry and food shopping, etc, so will not get to post review and pictures till tommorrow afternoon. I see some people have already done some some reviews anyway so the info is out there. It was such and awesome cruise, I will never be able to explain it in words!! But I am also sure our 12 day on her in Dec for the holidays will surpass it!!! This was such a blast!!!! (ok, being on the Love and Marriage Show helped......EVERYONE knew us and it was a hoot!!!) amickeyfriend Posted July 29, 2007 #144 Share Posted July 29, 2007 Dear Denice - thank you for being YOU. A cruise is all about the people that you meet. You were a shining star on this cruise. It is so nice that you started this thread. I can only agree with what you said. As for the behind the sceens tours, they are offered to diamond plus - but for some reason we did not hear about them this cruise. It didn't matter as we have done them in the past. I agree that the galley is fabulous to see. It still amazes me that they can do so much and make everything so special for everyone. Thanks again for doing this thread. I hope that we will meet again on a future cruise. I don't want my memory of you to be waving to you as the shuttle bus pulled away from the ship. Kathy130 Posted July 30, 2007 #146 Share Posted July 30, 2007 Yes, Denice was definitely the "energizer bunny" on this cruise. It was wonderful meeting her family. They are all very funny!! The cruise was wonderful. As Robin mentioned the luncheon was OUTSTANDING, the Beatles FANTASTIC, and the ice show is is the best I have seen. The theme is the four seasons and you can only imagine the wonderful things they are able to do with that. I think the ship continues to be in wondeful shape. I even saw new wall paper going up. Interestingly, there were only 470 children and teens onboard, which is much lower than my last July's cruise. As I posted earlier this morning, I was home by 10:30am exactly, which is also the earliest ever. The previous 9 day Explorer seemed to have problems with debarkation, but this was a pleasure. Cruise Diva, thanks so much for the hunt. It was tricky at first, but it all worked out. Now it's deciding on the next cruise. Booked the "next cruise" option and will be investigating different ports. Saw Liberty in St. Maarten and would also love to sail her. Will be looking forward to some different reviews. We "lost " both the first and last seas days, but found alternate activites for sure. Saw CCers throughout the cruise, so had opportunities to "compare notes". Still working on putting things away. I HATE this part. I hope I can sleep tonight without the rocking.:D

My color tag wasn't called until 11:15! This was the most disappointing debarkation I have ever had! On a lighter note, this WAS THE MOST AMAZING cruise we have even sailed!! The food was incredible, the ports of calls were perfect, the ship is sooo beautiful...but what put it over the top was the wonderful people we met both staff and guests! We too have booked the "next cruise" option and will decide in the next 2 months! I agree with everyone else about the food at Portofino! AWESOME! The Gorgonzola salad with pears was fantastic, the Filet Mignon was perfect, and the Flourless chocolate cake was to die for!!!!:D Also, the "Spirit of the Seasons" ice show was so beautiful. My kids were mesmerized. This was truly a wonderful vacation! Bev, loved seeing the two of you at the concierge lounge every night! Next time, I utilize Ricky's services to debark!!:o
Kathy130 Posted July 30, 2007 #148 Share Posted July 30, 2007 Judie............I couldn't agree more about the gorgonzola salad and the filet. We ate at Portofino's twice and it was better than FABULOUS. Actually it was three times, since I did the Sat. galley/luncheon which was superb. As far as debarkation, I was the second color called. We found the luggage right away, as well as a porter. We picked up the car in the parking garage and were off. Best ever .........BY FAR!!! Sorry yours wasn't, but glad you also had an AWESOME cruise.
cruislovin Posted July 30, 2007 #149 Share Posted July 30, 2007 What does it mean that you booked "the next cruise option"?
AspiringCindy Posted July 30, 2007 #150 Share Posted July 30, 2007 What does it mean that you booked "the next cruise option"? While you are still onboard, you can leave a $100 deposit per person for the next cruise to be determined. This will give you $200 onboard credit per cabin.
