Rare shipshape sam Posted November 1, 2007 #53 Share Posted November 1, 2007 We have never had a disappointing or bad cruise. We've been to muster for real, clogged toilets, slow waiters, bad cabin steward, creaking cabin noises, loud neighbors, missed ports, rough seas, noisy corridors, chairs scraping on the Lido deck above, tight casino ... but never a bad cruise. Just minor irritations. Beats sitting in the office. I guess it's all a matter of perspective. We've been on the big'ns and the little'ns and know what to expect on each. Great summation of cruising! :)

LLindaC Posted November 2, 2007 #55 Share Posted November 2, 2007 I'd rather stay 3 days on a beach hotel in FL than sail the Sovereign. We found t to be second rate in all areas. This is from 2 diamond members who love RCCL. I'll never do less than a 4 day and that would be the Enchantment. The Sovereign is a tub...

According to your signature, the last time you were on Sovereign was in 2000, in 2004 she underwent a 23 day multi-million dollar overhaul. When we sailed on her in 2006, she was gorgeous, up-to-date, and loads of fun. She's my second favorite ship after Legend of the Seas. I'm going to miss her when she goes to Pullmantur

kc320 Posted November 2, 2007 #58 Share Posted November 2, 2007 Not me.....besides its cheaper to do the SS than stay on the beach and get 3 meals a day.... Hush Ph, if we get enough "bad" reviews maybe us Fl. folks will get a few more good deals before she leaves PC.... So for all you folks out there considering a cruise on Sovereign.... DON'T!!!!! She is the oldest, rattiest, most broken down piece of scrap metal to ever sail the 7 seas... The food sucks, the crew is rude, the cabins(?) HA!! I've seen broom closets bigger than these..... I can't believe RCCL is still ripping people off by selling cruises on this old tug...:D
Mark_K Posted November 2, 2007 #59 Share Posted November 2, 2007 My husband decided to try his hand at blackjack one night and quickly wrote that off as we concluded that something fishy must be going on. My husband was able to play about 10 hands, of which the dealer got 21 6 out of the 10 hands! It was my husband and one other person at the table and the odds just seemed way too peculiar for me so we gave up. Have never had that problem on other ships.I really doubt anything fishy was going on, just the occasional string of good/bad hands that happen. Funny, how everybody thinks it's just good luck when they get twenty-one 6 out of 10 hands, but if the dealer does ....

dutchess43 Posted November 2, 2007 #61 Share Posted November 2, 2007 SS was the first ship I sailed on back in 1992 & 1994 you can't expect her to be up to the newer ships. Sorry to hear that we are loosing her she is a grand ship.
cruiseapril Posted November 2, 2007 #62 Share Posted November 2, 2007 We had a fine cruise on the Sovereign last year- CocoCay was a highlight and I wouldn't want to miss it, but better safe... Have always wondered, which months are the best for reaching CocoCay?
