Jonathan and Elene,

Congratulations on your wedding...I, too, watched you leave on the webcam. It was a sight to behold!

Sorry to hear about your leaving your navy blazer behind...I have posted in the Bermuda forum to a woman named BermudaMom (she posted on the Noordam Live from to Bermuda last week), lives on Bermuda and sails on HAL.

Hopefully she'll see my post and come here to tell you where you might find a replacement...I'm sorry to say I heard a while ago that Trimingham's and H. A. & E. Smith have closed on Front Street.

I'm really enjoying your Live from...will be traveling along on your cruise via that! Would love to see wedding photos!

Enjoy! :D

Congratulations & happy sailing. We sailed on 3/8 & our capt. was John Scott. I wonder where he ended up? Looking forward to your posts. Have never done transatlantic. let us know how the seas are. We had a rocky ride in march.

Again, Congratulations and Best Wishes, Jonathan and Elene.

Last time we were in Bermuda, we found Hamilton shopping to be nothing like it was years ago.... The days when Trimminghams was such a lovely shop.

I suggest you go to St. George to shop for your blazer. I think you'll find the shopping very much better there.

Too bad, 'Prinsendam', (Stephen Card) is not reading. He surely could tell you just where to purchase a new blazer!

Enjoy the beautiful Noordam. She is such a magnificent ship. HAL did everything so right on her IMO

Captain Scott just left Noordam. He is about to begin his vacation I believe.

John Scott was the Captain on both our Noordam cruises...a very nice man.

Do they do a 3 month rotation? I've always been curious how that works.

We always enjoyed shopping at Trimingham's...I just did a search and found an article that it closed at the end of July '05. H A & E Smith was another great store...I believe that has closed as well.

Thank you very much for all of your warm wishes; PatnJohn, Jhannah (Jim), Princessyoga, Mamaofami, Jbhcw (Jane), Innlady1 (Sheila) Patross and Dfd1, it's very touching.

Hi Jonathan,

Jim and I had a wonderful time at you wedding yesterday. It was a truly beautiful ceremony and a great reception in the Crows Nest. I can't believe that Elene wore the dress to the life boat drill. How will you eve get it home from Rome? Ship it DHL! Elene looked beautiful and so very happy. Yesterday we we arrived home, I watched the Gem pass under the VN Bridge and then we waited & waited for the Noordam. I thought that maybe she went out before the Gem & I missed her. Then at 9PM the Noordam appeared outside our apartment. She does look beautiful all ablaze.

I have pictures from the wedding, including the Noordan cake but I don't know how to post pictures on this site. I will try to lean but if I can't I will send them to your personal email address. Also will try to post to my Shutterfly account and send you link.

Have a great day!

JoAnn

It was so awesome to see you and Jim again, just like old times on the Noordam and the QM2. My friend Rick loved you guys and said what fun he had hanging out with both of you.

I have pictures of the wedding cake in an email, but, I need to have a thumb drive to dowload before I can upload. I will try and email you and explain how to post pix on Cruise Critic it's really quite simple.

It was a little strange there with our delayed departure from New York, 5 pm turned to 6:30 next thing it was quarter to eight and we hadn't moved a centimeter. I started to get the unsettling feeling that we would spend the entire 17-day stint docked at pier 92. In fact I was just about to order out for a pastrami sandwich when we finally got underway, I'm going to owe the guy a heckluva tip when we get back.

Holland America Line continues to impress me with their customer service, they truly go above and beyond to assist their passengers. I have only had wonderful experiences thus far, they continue to wow me and win us over.

On the quest for a blazer front I spoke with the excursion staff, friendly but, not terribly informed. They suggested I speak with the gentleman who was lecturing on Bermuda. Well, I managed to corner him in a hallway outside the casino and quite to my surprise he'd never been to Bermuda in his life.

We had a very successful Cruise Critic meet and greet in the Crows Nest. It was a little wobbly up there but, in all about 50 or so turned out. I have read and heard recently (Table 147) were treated to comp cocktails at the CC function. There was nothing set up to indicate this was to occur, however, I hopped down a couple of flights and the Green House Spa called the concierge for me. I spoke with Barbara and once again the HAL staff valiantly came through with flying colors. The beverage manager was sent up to Crows Nest, we had a fast chat and were promptly treated to cocktails. "Ask and ye shall receive" my dad always says.

I did sign up for the Rabat tour in Morocco. I had been a tad concerned about our port stop in Casablanca after reading State Dept. Warnings and several related CC threads. Several CC folks are signed up for the 14 hour odyssey to Marakesh. We'll do a thrifty 5 hour whirlwind to Rabat and back it departs at 7:00 am on April 17, stay tuned.

One of our favorite treats on HAL cruises are the chilled soups. Today featured Banana, wow it was like having a banana smoothy with a soup spoon, delicious. I also try as often as possible to show my support for the HAL chefs and forced myself to have dessert. The floating island, a medley of meringues and vanilla custard was very memorable. Our lunch table was right above the propulsion pods, what a sight to behold the immense boiling washing, whipping and churning like a gigantic washing machine below us. It is still rainy and gray, but, it seems to brightning.....in Arizona. It does seem brighter though.

Thank you Sail for the St. George tip, I will make a point to get there, though it is much further than Hamilton I believe. There is a Marks & Spencer in Hamilton, I will have to google and see what I can find.

We were married in the Vista Lounge earlier and shortly after ascended to deck 10 for a rousing few hours with close friends and family, the time flew by.......

Hi Dave,

It's a similar itinerary. Bermuda, Madeira, Lisbon, Cadiz, Morocco, Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Livorno and final stop in Rome.

Unfortunately missed trivia today in the Crows Nest. The questions included what is the size of a hockey puck? Who were the two actors to decline their Oscars? And what was the nationality of Aladdin?

Hoping to get the Noordam Wedding Cake picture posted here soon, it was a real beauty, she is currently moored in our apartment back in New York.

That last post was me. I'm seeing many Cruise Critics still logged into the computers on the Noordam.

Jonathan

LOL, you confused me for a minute...then I realized what happened! CarolineInToronto was on last week's charter to Bermuda.

Same thing happened to me...someone posted here on a "Live From...." thread as Innlady1; it was while we were away so I didn't see it...Carol (mamaofami) picked up on it and posted that it couldn't be me...I wasn't still on the Noordam!

We figured out that I hadn't logged off after I posted on Cruise Critic. Carol forgot to as well...as did Caroline it seems.

Now, I will go back and read your latest!

Ok Jonathan,

Hope the cake picture makes it. Your directions are great just hope I followed them correctly

In Bermuda try Marks & Spencer or maybe Coopers. I think they still exist on Front Street.

Gosh! It's a far more widespread thing than I thought. I thought it was just an isolated or unusual incident when it happened with Innlady1's account.

Seriously, someone tap Kelvin (the Internet manager - at least he was as of March 8th when I got off the Noordam) on the shoulder and tell him to wipe the cookie files on all those units. Not that I think anyone from these boards would or could do anything questionable but if THESE logins are still there, who knows what else is being held in those cookie files. People might have logged onto check airline reservations, bank accounts, etc. Even an innocent mistake can create problems for people.

I can't believe they don't it nightly  *shakes head* but clearly they don't.

This is great reading! Thanks everyone! We've just booked on the Noordam for a 10-dayer in November. Reading what you all are saying makes us want to go RIGHT NOW!

Congratulations to the happy couple, and we wish them all the happiness in the world!

Congratulations on the wedding!

I was on a pier south of where you were docked and heard a lot of partying going on around 5 pm - it seemed as if it was coming from the Noordam. Your wedding perhaps?

I did not stick around till the ship left as I had a dinner appointment at 7 pm. When did your wedding guests have to leave, or did they get to stay on board longer because of the late departure?

Cool cake!

I think the store is called English Sport Shop. There is one in Hamilton at 49 Front Street and one in St. Georges on Somers Wharf. We really liked the merchandise at the one in St. Georges as well as the helpful workers there. Good luck. Have a wonderful honeymoon!

Those pohotos are fabulous. I love the cake.

Jonathon, if I am still logged on, could you please ask them to get me off the computer. I knew that post couldn't have been from Caroline since she was on the charter last week.

Thanks a million for posting the Noordam Cake Picture, it's great to see her again at anchor in the Crows Nest. Thanks for the mention of Marks & Spencers, will go there tomorrow.

Thank you also very much for your warm wishes, NYCDeb, Geonna, Boytje (Peter), Bell Ringer (Mary Lynn).

Peter,

No it wasn't us partying at 5 pm. Unfortunately we had to bid our guests farewell at 3:30 pm. I didn't see what time the Norwegian Gem left, they usually pull out at 4pm, perhaps they were toasting specialty beverages.

Mary Lynn,

Thanks a lot for the store suggestion at 49 Front Street. I pretty sure I ran across something of that description in a recent google search.

And thank you very much to one of you very friendly posters who asked Bermudalady for a suggestion, I really appreciate it.

A big swath of warm sunshine blasted across the ocean about twenty minutes ago, and continues to burst through the still thick cloud layer. Hoping for sunny Bermudan skies.

Thanks again JoAnn.

Jonathan
