akcruz Posted April 26, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2008 If you had the option of a center hump balcony cabin, or a suite guarantee on a Voyager class ship where the guarantee is $110 LESS per person which would you go for? I have this dilema and keep going back and forth. I know the size difference, extra cruise credits, etc, but can't make up my mind. Looking for some opinions. Thanks! patnolen Posted April 26, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2008 I love the location of the center hump. It's convenient to practically everything!
wrp96 Posted April 26, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 26, 2008 The suite guarantee. While the location is nice on the hump, you don't get a bigger balcony at least not on the Voyager class. For $110 less, you'd get a bigger room, a bigger balcony, a bigger bathroom, and 2 cruise credits because you would get at least a junior suite. And with a suite guarantee you could always end up in a GS or higher and also get concierge lounge access.
Arizona Cruz Chic Posted April 26, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 26, 2008 Suite GTY! Sounds like a smoking deal! ;) ***
phoenix1181 Posted April 26, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 26, 2008 I'd take the suite guarantee in a heartbeat! The hump is a great location, but for less money you get so much more room and you could still end up in a great location. Take the shot.................... wrp96 Posted April 26, 2008 #8 Share Posted April 26, 2008 Oh and assuming it is for your June 14th, 2008 Explorer cruise this year, consider that JS 9318 (center hump) is still open as is JS 9628 (hump) so it is possible that you could be assigned to one of those cabins and if you get really lucky GS 1624 (hump) is still open. patnolen Posted April 27, 2008 #12 Share Posted April 27, 2008 When I posted earlier, I misread it, I thought it was a balcony gty, I've never noticed a suite gty! Where'd you find that?
nessy48 Posted April 27, 2008 #13 Share Posted April 27, 2008 We did a suite guarantee for our cruise last November and when it was assigned, we got a JS, but then the center hump (9618) was still open, I just called and asked them if we could switch it. They told us as long as it was the same category, they would switch it! And they did...so maybe you can get the best of both worlds!

They aren't often offered, but just check your cruise as though you are booking a new one, and if there is one, it will be on the list at the bottom of the suite categories. akcruz Posted April 27, 2008 Author #15 Share Posted April 27, 2008 Thanks for all your input, called last night and switched the guarantee! Now just need to keep an eye on the reservation to see what we get! More $$ for fun stuff on the ship!!
wrp96 Posted April 27, 2008 #16 Share Posted April 27, 2008 Good move!! Here's hoping the upgrade fairy can shine on you and you can get that hump GS!!
beachchick Posted April 28, 2008 #17 Share Posted April 28, 2008 We are not fans of the GTY because we prefer to choose our exact cabin. I mention this because in this case we'd leap on that suite GTY without thinking twice. Less money for a GTY of at least a JS? No brainer. beachchick
