CeleBrat Posted May 5, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2008 I always use a lanyard. Usually my Disney Cruiseline one, which seems to be the most durable and has a plastic sleeve for the card. Check in your ship's gift shop once onboard as most cruiselines sell them. Have fun! CeleBrat
kjunea Posted May 10, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 10, 2008 I've got a couple of divers wallets, waterproof and wear it around my neck. Keeps my S&S card, drivers license, credit card, etc for port too. tuck it under my shirt and don't have to carry a purse. Works great!
gazingm42 Posted May 28, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2008 Go to the purser desk and they will punch a hole in it for you. Using a landyard you can buy on ship (But they are poor quality), or in every port for 3 or 4 buck. When we go into port I tie the landyard around a belt loop and put it in my pocket. If I will be at the beach type activity I put it in a water proof dive 'wallets'.
AR_Magnolia Posted May 30, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 30, 2008 I just got back from the first cruise, but thanks to this board, I knew what to expect every step of the way. :) Anyway, I combed Galveston looking for a lanyard. Finally, I was directed to Office Depot, where I found a nice beaded one. Apparently, I was supposed to buy the clip that goes with it where you can just slip the card into the protective plastic, but being of a frugal nature, I declined. Instead, I went to the casino and had them punch a hole in my Sail and Sign. It worked great! (By the way, everytime I mentioned the word "lanyard", no matter my audience, I had to explain the definition. Odd.)
mjhdolfan Posted June 7, 2008 #6 Share Posted June 7, 2008 On most ships, you can go to the casino after you set sail and they will punch a hole in the corner of your card, and give you a lanyard.
lady_cruiser Posted June 9, 2008 #7 Share Posted June 9, 2008 On board or off the ship I use a bracelet mate: It holds my seapass card, credit card, money, driver's license etc. Just do a search for "bracelet Mate' and you will find the link. I keep it with me all the time since it's connected to a cc. ideas? I have always used a lanyard. In addition to the free ones in the casino, there are some sold in the gift shop for about $5. However, for our last cruise, I bought a pretty beaded lanyard in the Hallmark store and it had a plastic card holder attached. It's the only way to go so that your hands are free for taking pictures, etc. and not having to worry about your S&S card falling out of your pocket. rcacace Posted August 22, 2008 #9 Share Posted August 22, 2008 Note that Princess has begun collecting the cruise cards upon disembarking the ships. It might not be long that Carnival might be doing likewise. If you collect you cards as a souvenir be warned to misplace yours before the last day. Aplmac Posted May 25, 2009 #11 Share Posted May 25, 2009 I have a bunch I will send you one if you would like itwgpmap@hotmail.com To address the issue of poor quality lanyards available on board shipsplease know that Cruisecritic sells excellent-quality, durable lanyards! I have one and can vouch for the quality. Their Store http://www.cruisecritic.com/store/ offers all sorts of great other stuff, but the lanyard can be seen at http://www.cruisecritic.com/store/product.cfm?ID=15 although I opted to get mine via their Cruisecritic Member Pack which included it! That's at... http://www.cruisecritic.com/store/product.cfm?ID=16 So go have a look around the CC Store. They offer quality stuff -I have several of their items! ;) ............................... To the kind lady who generously offered her cruise-cards.. I'll be emailing you shortly. Lately, I've added cruise-cards to my list of Things I Collect  and have gathered quite a few from friends locally! Amazing is the variation and design changes every few years. I've looked around the Memorabilia section but there seems to be little interest in collecting cruise-cards aside from each person keeping his/her cards as memorabilia... Anyone of like mind out there might like to make contact? pcdoctor (at) caribsurf.com .
Momx4boys Posted May 28, 2009 #12 Share Posted May 28, 2009 I've made several beaded lanyards to match my outfits!! They are pretty inexpensive to make with just some basic supplies from Michael's.

sstich79 Posted December 28, 2009 #14 Share Posted December 28, 2009 I really liked having a lanyard with a plastic card sleeve instead of getting a hole punched in the card. That way I could keep the small day's schedule and a small map of the ship in the sleeve as well (swimsuit + sarong = no pockets for that stuff). Plus that way my Sign and Sail card stayed intact for my scrapbook instead of having an ugly hole in it.
MiamiSpartan Posted July 20, 2010 #15 Share Posted July 20, 2010 We use the lanyards to hang the cards around our neck... I decided to represent our respective colleges: Michigan State and Miami...We'll usually get a lot of comments from other alum....
