Ever caught yourself wishing for the perfect cruise?

Recommended Posts

DH and I had what we considered a 'perfect cruise' last November. BUT it was the perfect cruise for US. You, on the otherhand may not have enjoyed it at all. Everyone's idea of perfect is different.

What it the best vacation you have ever had? Why? What was 'great' about it? What cruise lines have you been on? What did you like about them and what did you NOT like about them? I am not asking you to slam any cruise line - but everyone has likes and dislikes about the different cruise lines I would like to know what yours are.

Of the ports you have visited which ones did you really like? and why? IF ANY.

I am a TA and I cannot contact you or sell you a cruise or tell you who I am in any way. But I do not think there are any rules against me helping you to select a cruise to buy from someone else.:)

Every cruise we go on is the perfect cruise. We are determined to have a wonderful time and we do.

In our case, we love to see new places, so our cruises do that. Next year we will go to Australia, northern transatlantic and South Africa to Singapore.

My perfect cruise is leaving from Vancouver sailing to Alaska, then sailing to Hawaii, down the Mexican Riviera, through the Panama Canal, stopping by Aruba, the Turks and Caicos, Puerto Rico, then NY.

I see you've predominantly sailed the Caribbean and while it is beautiful and I absolutely love going there, the ports get to be quite similar in their offerings. Have you considered something entirely different like a Mediterranean cruise? Ports such as Athens, Rome, Venice, Monaco, Istanbul, Ephesus, Yalta, Alexandria and Cairo are places we've visited before and simply have to return to them again. There is so much to see that each cruise is different, even though we may have been to the same port once or twice before. Just food for thought.

Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

I agree with the above. I love the Caribbean, but having been there many times, now when we cruise there we frequently just enjoy the ship when everyone else is ashore, or do a limited shopping or beach run. The world is a large place. Cruises are a great way to see many places within it. Consider Hawaii, the Antarctic, the South Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, South America, Japan, Europe, Africa, river cruises, and so forth.

What is perfect for me isn't perfect for everyone. Our Hawaiian vacation via cruise ship last summer was as close to a perfect vacation as I ever expect to come, but it wasn't a perfect cruise (in my book). A perfect cruise would have had a casino, sea days, etc. Maybe it's just my age, but I actually don't run around seeking "perfection" in anything -- I'm not perfect, so I don't expect anything else to be, either!

My perfect cruise would be like this (for now): Board here in San Juan and touch an island or two going south. Then go straight to Brazil, hitting Recife first, then Buzios and finally Rio de Janeiro. In Rio, do two overnights. Then head east towards Barcelona and two more overnight stays. This would be followed by about three Med/Africa ports before heading back out of the Med and then north to the Britsh Isles with two overnights in Southampton plus about 3 ports. After that head west to Boston with a couple of overnights here too. Finally, a run back to San Juan so that I don't have to fly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he he - silly....

thanks everyone for your input! all our cruises have been great, and I am sure there will be many more...in fact, we are planning one now for november or december and one probably in April. I guess I am just thinking that one day, if I keep looking, something spectacular will just jump out at me!

have done Europe on land trips, and my DH is not real interested in Mediterranean cruises because he doesn't think you will see enough of any one port.

we have talked about river cruises, and about Antarctica....but I just haven't had that one great idea click yet! BUT, I WILL KEEP LOOKING!

I've always wanted to cruise from NY or FL to Jamaica ... get off ship, spend a week in Negril, and then sail back ... I'd be williing to sail there, stay, fly home or vice versa .. but it would be a great way to travel.

I would have put that "there isn't enough time in any one port to see everything" so I need to go back again.

Baltics was a fabulous cruise as was Asia!!

For me, the SHIP is the thing! I don't really care what ports we hit, as long as it's warm and sunny! (I don't ever see me taking a cruise to Russia or Scandinavia!!) I love the sea days, (although hubby doesn't!) and would be happy as long as our cabin is spacious, the food is good, and so is the service!

Since I am new to cruising I haven't done all the Caribbean yet, but I am still looking at the New England and Canada cruises. It's something different and most are in the fall so you can see the leaves changing colors.

(something we don't have here in Florida)

Anyway just a thought if you are looking at something other than the Caribbean or the Mediterranean.
