STEPHEN LARKIN Posted June 15, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2008 Hi again guys , Ive been wondering about the boring but nessesary lifeboat drill and in particular where my muster station is . On looking at the deck space on QM2 , I can see that there is not enough space for the whole ships compliment to have a drill on-deck . Therefore some of the passengers will have to muster in the various rooms aboard ship . I will be on deck 9 in a Q5 suite and wqas wondering if anyone knows where my muster station would be ? Trivial I know , but is of some small interest to me ... Looking forward to any replies
GeorgeW Posted June 15, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2008 Looking forward to any replies We were on Deck 11, mustering in Kings Court. While some might find it boring, I welcomed the chance to get a 'first look' at my shipmates. One particular memory was a white-haired Japanese couple, immaculately dressed and perfectly matched; he in a modest but luxurious wool suit, she in a long silk dress which was exquisitely designed and executed. As she strode gracefully to her muster station, she obediently carried before her the gaudy orange life jacket, held straight out in front by one rigid arm, as if it were a foul-smelling thing. pb82 Posted June 15, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 15, 2008 All of the QM2 muster stations are on Deck 7, indoors, from the gym forward to the QG and PG restaurants aft. A card on the inside of your cabin door tells you where to go.
lannp Posted June 15, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2008 Your life jacket has the muster station on it. e.g. A, B, etc. Stairway guides will point you in the right direction for your station.
Skin Flint Jim Posted June 16, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 16, 2008 You'll be going to Kings Court. Go early, get a seat and have a snack.

Looking forward to any replies  On many ships now they are mustering inside away from the lifeboats. they find this faster and much safer ---even in an emergency. The muster stations are directly on the deck the lifeboats are at. Since many evacuations must be done in bad weather keeping the people inside until the last minute is much safer. As others pointer out you life vest will contain both your muster station and your lifeboat you are assigned to. I don't remember for sure about the QM2 but my room key on many ships also lists the muster station
CynthiaRI Posted May 22, 2018 #7 Share Posted May 22, 2018 Thanks for posting. We're on Deck 6 and I'm wondering the same. I know my children will have a bracelet, but my mom sometimes gets confused so I'm making an emergency card ahead of time for her to carry with her. Put it in a transparent lanyard around her neck, so other can see and find it, if necessary.
Rare BlueRiband Posted May 23, 2018 #9 Share Posted May 23, 2018 This thread is 10 years old! To answer the 2018 post, if your mother is suffering early signs of dimentia why would you leave her alone where she would need this card? Do you expect a crew member to take her back to her cabin if she is wandering about in a state of confusion? In recent years cruise lines have become very strict about a passengers' ability to take care of themselves. If she should need to be escorted back you can probably count on the Medical Center wanting to have a discussion with you.
Covepointcruiser Posted May 24, 2018 #10 Share Posted May 24, 2018  You'll be going to Kings Court. Go early, get a seat and have a snack. Actually we were in a QG5 and had to muster in the Gym. Bad time as there were few seats, just weight benches.
CynthiaRI Posted May 24, 2018 #11 Share Posted May 24, 2018 You're very wise, Cynthia. Put it in a transparent lanyard around her neck, so other can see and find it, if necessary. That is exactly our plan! We are going to have lanyards for everyone. I know it will be helpful for the kids (6, 8, 11, and 12). Also for me! I'm famous for losing room keys within 30 seconds of receiving them! Then I will have a card with important information for my mom. She's okay when it's calm, but in an emergency wouldn't know where to go. Plus, as she's getting settled, she'll be able to remember our rooms. Is the Muster Station and room number on the ship card/ID? I am assuming no, since then someone could use it to get into your room. Trying to figure out what to include on the emergency sheet. We won't know Muster Station until we're on board, but the rest should be typed out ahead of time!

She is only forgetful when she becomes extremely anxious, as in an emergency. She still lives alone and is quite self-sufficient. But I also need to be sure we're prepared in the case of an emergency. Similar to children with their required bracelets. I have no intention of leaving my 6 and 8 year old alone to roam the ship. But they are still required to wear a safety bracelet in the case of an emergency.
bluemarble Posted May 24, 2018 #13 Share Posted May 24, 2018 ... Is the Muster Station and room number on the ship card/ID? ... Muster station - Yes Room number - No
Bigmike911 Posted May 25, 2018 #14 Share Posted May 25, 2018 Your muster station will generally be below your Suite. If you are aft, it will likely be the Princess Grill, (I have never seen them use the Queens Grill for muster) mid ship the very large Kings Court, forward the Gym. Calliope Posted May 25, 2018 #17 Share Posted May 25, 2018 I will be on deck 9 in a Q5 suite and wqas wondering if anyone knows where my muster station would be ? Looking forward to any replies  It depends on where your room is on 9 deck as to where your muster station will be. Are you forward, midships or aft? That will determine where you will muster. It may or may not be in Kings Court, but it will be somewhere on deck 7.
