Never used the laundry room while on my cruise.

I bet a lot of passengers will start using them,

being with the new airline fees for checked baggage and all.

Here are some shots

Chris.....

For someone who's never used the laundry room, you certainly have some nice shots of it. :D

On our recent 31-day SAPPHIRE cruise, Sydney to L.A. one woman didn't get back to the laundry room to remove her wet laundry from the washer and, since there were no other machines available, a man who needed her washer simply took her wet laundry out and set it down on the counter. When she returned she started screaming "No one touches my laundry" and called her husband in to settle the matter. Her husband took a punch at the guy who had removed the wet load and security had to be called.

Result? This couple were put off at the next port.

Wow! I was on that voyage; however, I never heard abut that one. They should have charged the guy that threw the punch with assault!

That said, neither my wife nor I would NOT not under any circumstances remove anybodies clothing from a washer or dryer. This is just asking for trouble IMO.

Fights over elevators and theater seats? I don't ever recall having any problems in those areas. The policy on saving theater seats is pretty clear and they usually announce that policy a couple of times, while waiting for the show. If there was a problem with a seat issue, a Princess crew member in the theater (Usually a few in there.) could swiftly handle it.

What kind of issues are there with elevators?

As far as I know, they either are full or not and either go up or down.

The story was that someone got on an elevator and stood with his back to the buttons so that no one else who got on could see what was pressed or press any floor buttons themselves. I guess he wanted as much of an express elevator as he could get.

I seem to recall he and his wife found themselves pierside with all their luggage in the next port too.

After the theater seat fight, the cruise director came out wearing a combat helmet the next night to introduce the show.

It got to be a joke, all the people who were being put off the ship for fighting. We're talking senior citizens here, too, not Gen Xers with a little too much Starbucks in their system.

It's too bad it had to happen, but my husband developed a theory after about 3 weeks, that the cruise line should require that all passengers complete a psychological evaluation prior to cruising, to determine their mental fitness for various cruise lengths. You know, like one person could cruise for 2 months, another for 2 weeks, and there might be some who wouldn't even qualify for 2 days.

This is similar to the Southwest Airlines commercial with the woman blocking the guy from pressing his floor button.

JerseyGuys, did you ever have any problems with DROPPS opening in transit due to air pressure in the plane? I know that on HAL people have had problems taking home the little cardboard-y containers of lotion, shampoo, etc. and wondered if the DROPPS traveled well. I notice that they offer travelpacs and wondered if they're packaged differently.

I've been using WASHEZE, but this looks like it's a lot cheaper. Can't wait to reach Elite and not have to deal with this!

Wow! People are on vacation and they get so agitated over laundry/theater seats/elevators.

Sort of scary and unstable people, don't you think?

Do you think Princess let the passengers (who they were putting off at the next port return

to their room and go to the dining rooms or were they escorted to their room to pack

and put in jail?) What happens if they didn't leave and couldn't be found at the next port?

Were police called at the next port to file assault charges? Can the Captain of the ship book someone?

How many people were put off the ship in the theater seat fight? Does Princess refund the remainder of the cruise?

I guess people better be careful not to offend anyone... someone may take matters into their

own hands (no pun intended).

To answer original question:

On Diamond Princess wash is $1.00 (4 quarters) and dry is $1.00 (4 quarters) for 20 mins. I used $2.00 (8 quarters) for 40 mins of dry because I don't like damp clothes. Powdered detergent was brought from home in a plastic baggy, but you can just pack some liquid detergent in an plastic coke bottle or something like that if you want. We only went once on day 3 of our 7 day trip at 4pm and there were 2 washers/dryers free out of the 4 available in that laundry room.

I believe the ones who are going to be put off at the next port are confined to their rooms until time to get off. That's what happened on that same Sapphire cruise in April to the guy who tried to jump off the ship on Deck 14. Passengers restrained him, then we heard a Code (forget which color). He was confined to his cabin and then put off by tender at Fjordland Park in New Zealand.

The laundry room couple got off at Kona and I saw a crew member escorting them out to the parking lot with all their luggage.

I too have found the launderettes great aboard Princess...but have been a bit spoiled the past 2 cruises on HAL where I've taken advantage of their flat rate (around $12 I think) laundry bag service -- i.e. all the laundry you can stuff into a small laundry bag (you'd be amazed how much you can fit in :-)

Other than the laundry service offered to Elite Passengers does anyone know if Princess offers a similar "by the bag" laundry service?

We are sailing on the Coral Princess, Panama Canal full transit on December 23rd.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

Some cruises on Princess have one or two days when they offer a bag special. Have seen it at $15 and at $20.

Hard for a passenger to predict if and when it would be offered, but maybe once on board you could find out.
