Question regarding Seaside Theatre

I saw on another post that there are movies/concerts shown during the daytime hours.. Are these difficult to see on the screen due to the brightness of the sun? I know I have trouble looking at a portable DVD player/ laptop etc outside.

Also, is the volume turned up really,really loud? How do you hear the movie without it bothering other passengers who may not want to watch the movie?

Is there still a band playing poolside during the day and evening?

If the screen on Carnival is anything like the one on Princess, you will not have any difficulty seeing the picture during the day - clear and easy to see even in the brightest sunlight. I'll be finding out for myself next month on the Freedom. I don't know what to tell you about the volume. On Princess most MUTS are in a separate area away from the main pool, so the noise doesn't filter to other areas.

We've been on three Carnival ships with the Seaside Theater (Liberty, Valor and Victory); while the programming varied from ship to ship, (a) it is visible during the day and (b) since the screen is in the Lido deck midships area, everyone on Lido deck gets to hear the program. However, all three ships had a Lido band every afternoon and while the band is playing the screen shows pictures without sound. If you want to avoid the screen altogether, I'd suggest the aft pool. The equipment is very good because I could see the program on the screen, but I didn't think it was as clear and easy to see during the day - direction of the screen and the sun.

There were times when I could hear it during the day and other times when I think the sound was off. The Lido deck was busy at that time so the noise could have drowned it out or maybe I was too far away to hear the program.

They played music concerts (Bob Marley and ???Eric Clapton???), videos of people doing activities like surfing.

I can't remember if they had the screen on during the live music that took place beneath the screen. :confused:

They played the movies in the evening and there was no trouble seeing the screen or hearing the movie. The Lido deck was pretty empty of people at this time - people getting cleaned up after spending the day outside, going to dinner, going to the casino, etc.

We really enjoyed sitting in the blue plastic rocking chairs and watching movies on the Liberty. :cool: Like being at a drive-in only better! We watched Wild Hogs, Bridge to Terabithia, Miss Potter, and some of an animated movie whose name escapes me.

There was popcorn available for sale at one of the outside Lido bars.

I love the Seaside Theater! We went on the Freedom when it first came to Miami. The speakers are surround sound. It sounds awesome and you can definitely see the screen with no problems.

OMG!! I've heard of nickel and diming but charging for popcorn is just stupid. It costs like a nickel to make. C'mon Carnival, with all the other "free" food you can't include popcorn for the seaside theater. I'm sorry but that's cheap.

From what I understand, the reason they "sell" the popcorn (it's fairly nominal) is because if they give it away, some kids will throw it around and make a mess.

No...it is not hard to see during the day. The usually play music related stuff during the day so it doubles as the music for the pool area. They usually play the movies after dark.

On the Liberty we loved sitting out at night and watching the movie under the stars , it felt like we were back at the drive-in movie theaters that once dotted the land .

Hmmm they don't charge for it on Princess........maybe they don't have the problem because they have youth security;)

 

When we sailed the Liberty the picture was not so great in the day time. At night is was fine. The sound was so so.........

The outdoor screens at baseball games are easy to see even in the brightest of sunshine. I guess cruise ships use the same type of screen tech...
