royalfan Posted September 6, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2008 We have the chance to change our corner aft balcony to a junior suite on the AOS. Not sure what to do? We have stayed in the aft rooms before and loved it, but we also would like to try a Junior Suite and the price is right (and the extra cruise credit) Any sugguestions-Thanks in advance

lablvr2 Posted September 6, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2008 I say try the JS. We loved the one we had on Radiance. The extra room is great! Next cruise, go back to aft! Whatever you decide, have fun :)
Gracie115 Posted September 6, 2008 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2008 I'd go for the JS, 1/3 more space in the stateroom, full bath, walk in closet, we love the JS, so if price is right go for it!!!
MrPete Posted September 6, 2008 #6 Share Posted September 6, 2008 I've been in a JS, and a D1 corner aft on deck ten. I would take the D1 corner aft over the JS any time!
Host Kewlguy Posted September 6, 2008 #7 Share Posted September 6, 2008 This is strictly a personal opinion which you're sure to get different responses. From our perspective we'll always choose a much larger balcony over the larger stateroom. Our favorite aft balconies are on the Vision and Radiance Class ships. No so much the Voyager Class. The Grumpus Posted September 6, 2008 #8 Share Posted September 6, 2008 Get the JS for the all the reasons you said. It's a much better cabin than the D1.
sunlover5 Posted September 6, 2008 #9 Share Posted September 6, 2008 Your title says regular balcony but in your post you say corner. If it is a corner wrap around I wouldn't change. You will have a huge balcony!!
cb at sea Posted September 6, 2008 #10 Share Posted September 6, 2008 We won't sail in anything less than a JS--the balcony in a JS is AMPLE for 2, and the space....ah, the space! Lovely! The tub, and the walk-in closet make the trip so much more comfortable!
critterchick Posted September 7, 2008 #11 Share Posted September 7, 2008 I'd take the JS. I love the aft cabins on Radiance and Vision class ships, but I didn't care for the aft cabins on Mariner (I didn't stay in one, just had a look on disembarkation day). What I disliked was the ship infrastructure that gets in the way of the view, even up on deck 10. I would probably have gotten used to it, but it wasn't nearly as nice as Radiance or Vision class cabins. We had a hump JS on Mariner and I loved it - huge cabin, great balcony with views forward and aft and very convenient to everything.
cruzincanuck Posted September 7, 2008 #12 Share Posted September 7, 2008 Tough question as you can see from the previous responses that there are great reasons to choose either of them. Personally, I am an avid Aft cruiser as the size of the balcony and where the cabin is situated are both important to me. The size of the cabin is not a priority however the corner deck 10 afts on the AOS are exceptionnally big (had cabin 1688 on the AOS). I like some previous poster have had JS in the past but they were in the Aft as well. The only thing I can tell you about that corner aft is that the steel structure gives a shaded area on the balcony. In my case, this was perfect as my husband loves to sit on the balcony but in the shade. I ,on the hand, prefer the sun. In essence, I would keep the corner aft :D
royalfan Posted September 7, 2008 Author #13 Share Posted September 7, 2008 Thank you for all the great responses! I realized I didn't mention in the original posting that the JS was a Guarantee. But doesn't really matter because we made the switch from room 7688 (corner aft, E1) to the GTY Junior Suite. We had a aft on the Jewel, which was great, and didn't have the metal structure outside it-we got spoiled with that! And we did have a promenade room last cruise-which was great (and less $) but this time we decided to go for the JS, being it was only $100 more a person. I will keep you posted as to what room we receive. Thanks again for the posting! Critterchick-funny thing, I met you on the Jewel 11/06, our dinner mates knew you and introduced us in the casino (Jim & Amy from Illinois) Small World!:)
FOXTROT Posted September 7, 2008 #14 Share Posted September 7, 2008 Keep the corner aft cabin. It's all about the balcony.
Shaden1982 Posted September 7, 2008 #15 Share Posted September 7, 2008 I love 7688 - 7388 on the Voyager class ships --- the balcony is huge!!! Keep it if you can. :D Not too crazy about deck 10 corner Afts because of the super structure....I'd give those up but not deck 7!!
