Lol Airfare for me LGA-MCO is $370.(most liklely because it's family vacation time at the theme parks) and then there's the cost of transfers making it about $400. Ouchy! Artemis Posted July 12, 2014 #3079 Share Posted July 12, 2014 (edited) From this week's Celebrity Tuesday sales flyer... Aug 29 Celebrity Millennium 7-night Alaska one-way from Vancouver - fares slashed in every cat, 150% single supp discount (down from standard 200%) beginning at balc, so balc for one is around $1500, or for $1000 could do inside with no single supp discount. If you've always wanted to do Alaska, but felt you didn't have the time or money, this is a pretty sweet deal! It's a nice itin. for a 7-night, great option for those who have only one week of vacation, as Alaska usually requires more time. And these are very good cruise rates for Alaska, which is always expensive! You'd have to factor in air (also generally high) and cost of shorex (pricey if you want to take advantage of many soft adventure actiities, but terrific independent tour operator options--see the very active Ports of Call>Alaska forum). http://www.creative.rccl.com/Sales/Exciting_Deals/XcitingDeals_cel_tues.pdf The next best Alaska deal I can find is $1500 for an inside (144% single supp) on a Sept 2 8-night roundtrip out of Seattle on Carnival Miracle. For the same $1500, I'd take a balc on X over an inside on Carnival any day! But the RT air option with Carnival could bring the airfare cost down enough to make me think twice! Happy sea trails! crusinpsychRN Posted July 13, 2014 #3080 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Since NCL has the studios on Epic, do they ever run solo rates for other cabins? Don't think I'd be able to stand the cramped cabin geared for solos.

Don't think I'd be able to stand the cramped cabin geared for solos. You can book a balcony cabin for most of November and early December on Epic for far less than 200% SS. The site is tricky, initially it will show a higher rate, then drop it down when you get to the category you want. Don't think I'd be able to stand the cramped cabin geared for solos. I recently sailed on Breakaway in a solo balcony for less than the price of a studio. I booked a regular inside gty. which was cheaper than the studio. Then the rates dropped so for another $80. I upgraded to an ocenview gty. The o/v were all sold out so they upgraded me to a balcony. I'm sure it works the same way on the Epic. I actually sailed Epic and booked a studio but since I had trouble with the shower they moved me to a regular inside with living room privileges kept. Don't think I'd be able to stand the cramped cabin geared for solos. Very few. Very often they are quite "solo-unfriendly" - while they often close the cheaper subcategories for solo-occupancy - so you have to book a higher subcategorie and end with a supplement of much more than 200 %. But sometimes they have offers: Book an inside and get an upgrade to an balcony. So you pay an inside with the full single supplement and you receive a nice balcony. Sure - it depends on their booking situation and these offers are just available if their situation is really bad (TA on EPIC......) Wendy

I just booked a cruise today for $762+$66taxes/fees for a studio. I found your post and went to Avoya's website but they don't list my cruise (Epic 4/19/15 trans Miami-Barcelona) - did you call for this price? I'm actually looking forward to the studio cabin but could be convinced to upgrade (actually, I wouldn't mind a last minute upgrade for a reasonable amount to a balcony...). But, I'd like to retain access to The Lounge since I'm traveling solo and would welcome meeting others there. WestCoastCruiser123 Posted July 14, 2014 #3093 Share Posted July 14, 2014 I went on epic last nov, the week after thanksgiving. I paid many months in advance. After final payment, the price dropped significantly. Many people I met through the studios booked in the 1-2 weeks up to the cruise sailing and got a studio for $100s less than me. I will never get a cruise so far in advance again. In fact, just the other day, I got my cruise for next month with no solo supplement on carnival. I'm not saying prices will drop on epic like they did last year. But I was really upset about the price variance. I still had a great time with the other solos though :)

cruise pup Posted July 16, 2014 #3097 Share Posted July 16, 2014 Cunard UK are currently offering a few crossings this month and next. Last October I did the QM2 fall foliage cruise. 13 nights r/t from Brooklyn. The single rate was $1190. which was only about $200. over the double rate. Plus there was a $250. obc. I also won $200. in the casino which made it an even better deal. I didn't book until August. The rates were much higher before then. The only drawback was the Britania Restaurant dinners were horrible and the service wasn't so great either. But it's still a fantastic ship and I would gladly sail here again.
