Star Princess - First Cruise After Dry Dock

latest word is International Cafe is having problems and is unable to serve anything hot. It seems that the burners in the ovens are not functioning. Also no Gelato on the Star. The Gelato equipment that was to be installed in the International Cafe was too big for the size allotted. Looks like Star will not have Gelato like the other ships with the International Cafe..
Check out the chicken salad & schrimp salad at the International Cafe, they are wonderful & cold. We sail on the Emerald in 10 days & I'm so looking forward to those salads. Enjoy.

Thanks for the info Larry. I wonder what's new with Crown Grill?

Watching the webcam is awsome. I can't wait till next June. I'll be reading all your posts on the changes.

sixkidsmom,

We'll be sailing her to Alaska out of Seattle next Jun 14th, 2009,

just two weeks before you. Hope they have all the "refurb bugs"

worked out by then ! :)

Kiwi Kruzer,

Great screen shot of the Star in SF Bay, thanks for sharing ! :)

I read somewhere that work on the Grill as well as moving the Casino was not completed.

I know they decided not to switch them, but I wonder if the Sterling Steakhouse/Desert Rose or whatever it was called on Star Princess was renovated into the theater kitchen style Crown Grill...

Brian,

When Mike and I were on the Star last month, our Head Waiter told us that the Crown Grill menus had arrived and that he would be involved with training waitstaff in the new venue that "would relace Tequila' Sterling Steakhouse." We took that to mean that Crown Grill would be located in the vicinity of the "Tequila's". Internet Cafe staff seemed to know that this venue was moving into the Card Room presumably to create additional space for the new restaurant.

I wish someone onboard would post here so we know what was accomplished during dry dock.

Sailing on the Emerald in 99 days!

Chris

I had a sailway on the Dawn Princess two years ago during fleet week and we also sailed a least 2 hours late. There were lots of small boats in the harbor and we had to wait for them to clear before we sailed.

Am also waiting for details on the updates as I'm on the Star in Jan. Can't wait to board her for South America and Antarctica!

It's fun to see the Star sailing out of SF harbor - I'm like a little kid waiting for more info from those on board. Can't wait to start our cruise in November - SF to Rio. By that time we should have lots of reports on the "new" Star. We sailed her to Alaska when she was brand new in 2002.

My wife and I just returned from a weekend in SF to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary.

When I woke up Saturday morning and open the hotel window guess who I saw?!

Yep, the Star Princess!

We were wondering when she would be heading out and happened to be out on a catamaran for a little sunset sail when she headed out. I got a few pic's and thought you guys might like to see them.

I don't have a great camera, so I hope the quality is ok.

Enjoy!

Ok, Nevermind, can't get it to work. I'll try and get them up ASAP.
