"THE ROYAL JEWELS" ROCK THE JEWEL OF THE SEAS...OCT. 28TH. TO NOV. 6 JUST RETURNED!!!

Recommended Posts

We have just returned from "the cruise of a lifetime". It was soooo special...because...we were able to form our "Society of THE ROYAL JEWELS" right here on Cruise Critics...Meet and Mingle!!!

We started the thread last November and it just kept building from there. We had our official Meet and Mingle on Halloween at 5:00 PM in the Odyssey Lounge onboard THE JEWEL OF THE SEAS. The RCI folks were flabbergasted when more than 75 people showed up!!! They said it was the best Meet and Mingle they had ever seen...ever!!! The ROYAL JEWELS were just getting started. There were so many events...too many to mention here...and the RJs were present at all of them. Even the crew members were chanting PUNA PUNA PUNA as the cruise progressed!!!

The culmination was the presentation of a beautiful certificate that noted the INNAUGURAL VOYAGE TO THE CARIBBEAN by the JEWEL OF THE SEAS. The certificate was made out to the Captain of the JOS, Thore Thorvolsen. Captain Thorvolsen was made an official member of the ROYAL JEWELS and was awarded his "officilal lapel pin" along with our congratulations and an official RJ PUNA CHEER!!! There were more than 50 RJs in attendance for the ceremony and a group photo was taken on the stage of the Coral Show Lounge.

The JEWEL OF THE SEAS is fantastic!!! She is one of the most beautiful ships to ever sail the oceans of the world. The folks at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany should be very proud of their achievement in constructing this vessel. The JEWEL is simply STUNNING!!!

I will post more on THE JEWEL OF THE SEAS tomorrow as this review will be a long one.

Ross,

I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed the Jewel. I had the pleasure of checking in several of the passengers at Black Falcon the morning after our BELOVED Red Sox won the World Series. Most of us only had a couple of hours of sleep as well as the boarding passengers, but everyone was in such high spirits creating such a festive mood.

Did you continue the Red Sox celebration on board? Just curious!

birdog16- thanks to you and your fellow workers for making the check-in at Black Falcon one of the smoothest we ever experienced. Everyone we met onboard commented on how well pre-boarding was handled. We arrived at the pier around 11:40 am and were onboard in the Windjammer before noon.

Red Sox fever continued throughout the cruise. Halloween parade featured at least two "Johnny Damons" ( I was one of them) and the sailaway party in Curaçao was the Red Sox sailaway party. Only downer was the Pittsburgh-Patriots game. :(

All of you who are scheduled to sail on the Jewel will be thrilled with her. As Ross has said, it is a wonderful example of the shipbuilding skills of Meyer Werft, and had us in warm weather very quickly. We have two more cruises booked on her in the coming year (westbound transatlantic and 12 night r/t Boston/Bermuda/Caribbean. PUNA PUNA PUNA.

HI BILL!!!

Bill was right on when he mentioned the fantastic boarding process at Black Falcon Terminal in Boston. KUDOS to everyone at Black Falcon in Boston. This was the best boarding process and nicest terminal we had ever experienced...and that says a lot...having crossed and cruised for 40 years!!!

ROSS "THE PUNA KAHUNA!!!" PUNA PUNA!!!

I as one of the "Royal Jewels" was in cabin 3117 (inside) with three passengers, all i can say is that even the entry level cabin far surpassed anything yet experienced. The showers are to die for and i for one will look to see if i can install something similar in my upstairs bathroom. My favorite part of the ship was the lounge just outside "chops" and "portofino" with Rifai as bartender (makes the meanest double cosmos you'll ever have). one thing i have to say as well, the onboard Casino staff is one of the finest i have encountered at sea todate.. they just cant help you enuff. i actually walked away from a machine having won a "mystery" jackpot and one of them literally chased me down the stairwell to get me while the other guarded the machine. just awesome. 10 days was not enuff. You all are in for a great treat... (make sure you say hello to Menino (mumbles) the bartender in the Casino..
