Hi All, just checking in from a very very slow internet connection.

Almost gave up but decided I would sit here until it loaded, which has been about 10 minutes or more.

Embarkation was a breeze. Arrived at the pier just after 11:00 and sat in the Elite Lounge until abuot 11:30-11:45 (sorry wasn't actually watching the clock as we were visiting with other cc members). Boarding took all of about 5 minutes, since we bypass the photo.

Things are well onboard so far, no problem to speak of that we have found. We are pretty sure the thrusters are still in disrepair though, but won't find out for sure until we get to our first port of Curacao day after tomorrow. Will try and report back when I find out for sure.

Everyone we have met from the CC group so far seems to be so tired after arrival, even those of us that arrived a day or so early. Probably the busy holiday season which wore us all out, or just plain old age setting in. lol

Have met up with about 1/3 of the cc members for sailaway, but actual M&G is scheduled for about 90 minutes from now.

The ship is good condition, although I have to admit showing it's age a little bit (if you really want to look). But as long as you aren't knit picking looking for scratches and well used sections, you won't even notice a bit.

No smells, water is pure as ever. No notice of any carpets bunching up, in fact, they all appear new and fresh. The ship is very clean and just as I remember it the last two sailing we have taken on the Grand.

Only problem we have had so far, again, was the beds. The room steward actually put three egg crates on it to soften it up a bit. Hopefully it will help. I actually expected a little more comfortable bed in a full suite, but then again, I have been wrong many times before. The problem seems to be that the new egg crate mattress toppers are less than 1 inch thick, compared to the old ones that were several inches thick. So if you aren't fond of extra firm mattresses, make sure you plan accordingly.

Food is excellent, service even better than I remember, crew friendly, etc etc.

We have a very mixed age group onboard from 20 somethings to the older set (not telling which we fall into ;)). Only 24 children onboard it has been reported, so very quiet as to kids running up and down the halls or around the pools.

All is well, having a marvelous time, and will check back when I can if there is internet access.

Hi Sue,

Have a wonderful cruise and remember not to clean out the whole casino, leave a little for me in February.

I head to the Emerald next week and I know that I don't win in that casino.

When will they work on the thrusters on the Grand?

Say HI to Wayne. We visit him in February.

Hi Jim!

Thanks for the report! We will be on the Grand on Jan 16th, and will be staying for 42 days, so I am very curious to hear about the entertainment that you are experiencing! Has the Grand begun the Pub lunch, and do the cabins have the flat screen tv's? We were on the Grand last January, and I just cannot remember if they had the new or old TV's... Who is the CD?

Thanks Toto for the report, and I will be hoping that you have the time and patience to post again. Enjoy your cruise and warm weather!
