looking to travel on our first European Cruise Fall 2010 (have only gone to Caribbean many times in the past on RCCL and Princess).

Although juding by what I've been reading, I THINK we're younger than the typical Oceania traveler, I love their itineraries and their "free air". I wonder if Azamara will be offering any promotions on their 2010's?

Time will tell.

It appears that Azamara is going to eliminate the Cat 2 balcony cabins

as from 2010. There will be Cat 1A, 1B, 1C instead of Cat 1 and Cat 2.

The price also shoots up by approx one thousand dollars (cat 1C vs the former Cat 2) fort a 14 day West Med cruise. In this case, may consider Oceania

Hi Limehog !

I just checked the Deckplans. Azamara is following Celebrity's lead, and changing the categories somewhat. It seems the most desirable locations will cost more. Most other Cruise lines have been doing this for quite some time, so it is not a surprise.

It appears the balconies will be Categories 1A, 1B, 1C. There is also a Category 2A balcony on Deck 7. The Suites will be Category S1, and S2, also depending on location.

I hope this helps clarify things.

From a VP at Azamara:

Hi Jan-

Azamara has recategorized the ships for the 2010 Europe sailing and beyond but this really has nothing to do with the pricing differential. I'm not sure what sail date you are referring to in 2009, but it appears you are comparing close in tactical price points for 2009 to 2010 strategic price points. I've taken a look at the price points for 2010 and they are on average still lower than Oceania (although higher than 2009 pricing).

Host Andy..

Thanks for the heads up on those...

Years ago I did Sea of Cortez on Holland America and fell in love with Loreto...it was like walking into a Western.

Also, if anyone on the boards is familiar with the California Missions, Loreto is the city they began in...take a wander to that one and you will see how the padres continued bits of the architecture all the way up to Sonoma, California

I would happily do this itinerary once again!

Buon Viaggio

It will be interesting to know if Azamara will offer the Copper Canyon train tour from Topolobampo, Mexico like HAL does. It is a long 18 hour day but right know as far as I know HAL is the only mass market line offering this tour.
