Updated pricing on Fantasy Class Owner's Suites

I received word recently that Carnival has instituted a flat rate for these cabins. It used to vary a fair bit - typically based on the rate of the Cat 12, which of course depended on the sail date, how full the ship was, etc...

For new bookings it's now $400 pp/day, and $500 pp/day for holiday sailings. Definitely a bit of a price increase. Fortunately we already had our October B2B booked - or else we might rethink our anniversary cruise!!

That's insane!! I don't care if they have gold fixtures in those cabins that price is rediculous. Of course if someone has that much disposable cash then they won't care. For $800 per day I can think of much better vacation options. Isn't the Fantasy one of the older smaller cruise ships??

Enjoy your B2B and I'm glad you got it booked at a more reasonable price :)

Gee, you could get an oceanview on Disney for that kind of rate. hehehe By the way Tom, we switched to verandah wrap for Sept. Just something about being on top sounds good.

No comment... :o

Yes - the Fantasy class ships are their older (and shorter sailing) ships.

someone posted they had a upsell call yesterday, ... from a cat 12 they had booked to a owner's suite. I think they wanted $1800 for a short cruise to upgrade. They decided to keep their cat 12.

I think they might have overshot the mark on their price point - but I'm sure they studied the situation well... darn!

Here is the post/thread in case you didnt see it.

The $1800 was for 4 people on Fantasy.

Thanks, I hadn't seen it. My guess is that they will wait until (almost) the last minute, and if nobody BITES - they will FREE upgrade someone into it - and then take someone else who wanted to be in a Cat 12 and upsell them to the 12.... that way they still generate some additional $, and have more people on board to spend...

My understanding is that they have been sailing with the Owner's Suite occupied more often now than in the past. So they are doing it someway!

As well as creating a (hopefully) better experience for both sets of passengers, generating greater brand loyalty and positive word of mouth -- a marketing tool that is quite priceless.

I think your guess is right on the mark (as usual). :)

LOL - Hey, I was just happy that they didn't convert the space into expanded Camp Carnival quarters! Though some type of mini supper club - or "looking over Lido" lounge might have been a good use of the space too!

Interesting points made. We were one of those free upgrades (to be honest did not even know that they existed at the time). Tom I know you have stayed in these more than several times. I guess the pricing is more of a true supply and demand feature. I guess if they can sell it that way, then they are the winners.

Personaly I think it is a waste of money. However it is your money so spend it any way that you like.:D

Hey variety is the spice of life. Not sure I would PAY the price either. But some people feel the same way about a balcony

what room is the owner's suite???

There are two, P1 and P2 top floor just under (actually under and forward of) the track off the main Atrium. Big Floor to ceiling privacy windows that face the main pool area.

My wife is currently on the Imagination in cabin OS1 with our daughter and her two sisters. I bought this for her as a birthday present. It was booked as two cat.12 cabins. Two weeks before sailing I did get the upsell call and moved her cabin and kept the other cat.12.

Tom,

Your numbers are very close to my cost.

I see we will just miss you again. We sail on the Dream 2/20/09. I know we had two near misses on the Sensation in he last couple of years. You had to rebook onetime and we had to change one sailing due to our son`s college graduation. I very much appreciate all of your time and effort here on this site. It has very helpful to us. We look forward to meeting you both when are cruises line up.

They are on Sports deck - at the top of the Atrium. Same deck as the gym and salon are on. They are designated S-1 and S-2 ("S" being for Sports deck").

Which Fantasy class ships do not have owner's suites?

The Paradise and Elation.

You have to consider that there are so many people out there with lots of disposable income. Consider that a business class ticket from New York to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific costs over $14,000 per person, and this cruise may start looking a bit cheaper. Or for that matter any business class international seating usually starts out at $7000-8000 full fare.

Hi Tom!

I am the person who received the upsell call and e-mail yesterday. They offered us an Owner's suite cabin that was over Camp Carnival. This didn't bother us as much as the price they wanted for the upsell. If it had been a few hundred more, we would have bitten. We had treated ourselves to our first Cat. 12 suite as it was (U97). They even sent us an e-mail showing pictures of the suite (they used someone's cruise critic pictures of the OS - may have even been yours from a previous thread, cause when I did a search of Fantasy OS, the same exact pictures came up) The e-mail also included a diagram of the OS. I was drooling listening to the spiel and seeing the pictures. Using your numbers of $400 pp per day, I just tried to figure out if this was close to what we paid plus $1800, but couldn't, as I don't know how much they would charge for the 3/4 passenger in the OS. I can only hope they don't sell the OS to anyone, and we get it as an upgrade. Maybe someone wants our cabin.....?

Well - I wish you luck, you never know... perhaps the upgrade fairy will pay you a visit!!

It would appear, from my calculations (knowing what we are paying for the 3+4 nights in October) that they have increased the rate on the OS by FORTY PERCENT!! I suppose they have re-evaluated the worth of this gem. They are "pushing" it more - it will definitely bring in some $ for them. Prior to this recent change I don't think that they went out and offered it to people, or if so - very rarely.

I'll take your cabin.... so good luck to you (I know we discussed hopefully you have the most past cruises with Carnival on our sailing because we all felt that would be the reason why you might get the free upgrade)

So, GOOD LUCK!!! :D;)

I'm not sure I could do that, just to much $$ for me for that length of cruise, though if a good deal came along why not !

You seriously need to find a new person to buy your flights from. JFK - HKG $7600, I pay around $3500 for LAX - LHR in J, the rices you are quoting are full J tickets, next time ask for a Z

Just checked my reservation - still listed as Cat. 12 #U97. Still 8 days to sail, though. Anything can happen! If I see a change, I'll let you know!

Tom - I can see the 40% increase Carnival put in. While those OS's are outstanding - I would be paying about $2500 more for this one cabin on my upcoming 5 night cruise than I payed for my extended 100 ft. balcony cabin on the 8 night Christmas cruise we took this past Dec. on Miracle. PLUS throw in what we are paying for our balcony on our upcoming President's week cruise on Liberty - and we would still be paying more! I would rather cruise 2x than blow it all for one sailing. (but I am still drooling to get into that OS!)
