sunshine 229 Posted August 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2009 I'll be on the Millenium during the NFL opening week. Can any football fans out there tell me where is the best place on board to kick back and catch a game or two?
Rare Lois R Posted August 24, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2009 I'll be on the Millenium during the NFL opening week. Can any football fans out there tell me where is the best place on board to kick back and catch a game or two? Hi Sunshine, hate to pop your pigskin:eek:, but Celebrity ships don't have "Sportsbars". There are some tv's in the Casino but other than the NFL PLAYOFFS and SUPERBOWL, the NFL is rarely, if ever shown. If ESPN has their first Monday Night game while you are on the ship you might be able to see it...they have ESPN International which is mostly Soccer...but you might be able to see the MNF game. I love football too and have been on cruises for Playoffs and they set up one of the lounges with a spread of food and a big screen, (Literally, its more like a movie screen). But for the "regular games"...don't get your hopes up. I would be surprised if you found them.

I learned a long time ago.....if you are dedicated NFL fan and don't want to miss any games? Sept through January is not the time to cruise....well I should say on X...maybe the other lines all show them.
Rare Texed Posted August 24, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 24, 2009 I could be wrong, but I believe Millennium does (or at least did) have a Sports Bar called Extreme. It is where the other "M" class ships have the Conservatory on Sunrise Deck.
elvnga Posted August 25, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 25, 2009 I could be wrong, but I believe Millennium does (or at least did) have a Sports Bar called Extreme. It is where the other "M" class ships have the Conservatory on Sunrise Deck. That is true, or it was when she first sailed. But as I recall there were not a lot of TVs to watch sports on. It was more that the design was "sports" with an emphasis on participatory sports. I was on Disney during the playoffs two years ago and watched the AFC championship in their sportsbar and planned to watch the NFC game by the pool. But the satellite signal was horrible for the first half and we missed the second half for formal night dinner. We have season tickets and I will miss two great homegames to do a transatlantic cruise this year. One has to have priorities I guess.
kitty9 Posted August 25, 2009 #7 Share Posted August 25, 2009 The only regular season games you'll see are those that are shown on ESPN Deportes. They don't have NFL Sunday Ticket on cruise ships.

Well, I planned to go to Alaska this year, Sept worked for me, and I wanted to go on X - maybe I can find a sports bar in Juneau - LOL! The very best line for the NFL is Princess-the big screen TV outdoors is a blast.
dsaurus Posted August 27, 2009 #10 Share Posted August 27, 2009 I actually cruised on Superbowl Sunday on the Millie in 2007. They played that on the TV's at the sports themed bar. Don't know about regular season though.

Don't know about regular season though. Hi:)they always show Playoffs and the Superbowl:D I was on Galaxy in January during both Championship games. They had a really nice spread. I heard for the Superbowl is really large;), rather than in a lounge it is in the Celebrity Theater (where they have the evening shows).
mek Posted August 27, 2009 #12 Share Posted August 27, 2009 We actually planned a family cruise around the Super Bowl one year - 12 passionate football fans! It was on RCCL and we had so much fun - TV's were all over the ship and food stations set up with "game food."
