We had to reschedule our cruise on Glory for September 9th and went with the Splendor on October 29th that has the same itinerary. Tell me about the ship! Will there be a Halloween party? What do we not need to miss? [emoji16]

We've sailed Splendor twice so far. She's still my favorite ship after miracle.

Though she does have a lot of pink zebra-striped circles and shiny black tiles as decor, it's very cheerful and whimsical.

Splendor had Tandoor! YUM!

She also has the old-style grill, with thin crispy fries  and delicious burgers and chicken tenders.

Lido deck is one level, not stadium style levels, which I greatly dislike, like Conquest class ships.

The main Lido pool has a retractable cover in case of inclement weather. The big screen is also at the main pool.

If Marq Anthony is still cruise director, you will be so fortunate. He's outgoing, funny, compassionate, patient, and visible, not hiding like some cds we've had.

from my experience , September one year ago.

Loved the ship. Yes there is some pink! but I did not think it was too much, but I do like pink! Yes there are some round things in some areas that resemble donuts and they are pink. They did not bother me though. The ship did in many ways resemble conquest class ships on Carnival, except for the main, central pool area, which had a retractable roof, and was not tiered, like conquest class. I especially liked the rear deck pool area, just beyond the back of the Tandoor. It was open and there were hot tubs there, but best of all; the tandoor( Indian food )was right there and open for lunch from about 1200 to 1400 hrs.

the bad for me was; smoke in the casino. I do enjoy my casino time on ships especially in the evenings, but this time I was not able to due to excessive smoke (from cigarette smoke) which is permitted there, and I do not fault the smokers, as they want to smoke somewhere inside, and this is the only place to do so. but it did affect the amount of time I could enjoy the casino. Evenings were out. I actually got sick from it, the excessive smoke and got bronchitis which took a long time to get over once I got back home.

In my experience also, and only my own, the wifi did not work very well on this ship. I purchased the value plan for 72.00 but could only get connected on an outside deck, which meant having to drag my ipad along everywhere while out on deck.

Service on board was exceptional as it has been on all my Carnival cruises. The staff were tops on my cruise. There were other issues to do with my particular stateroom, but those would not likely affect most other cruisers.

In general, loved the ship, loved the Tandoor for lunch, as always excellent staff on board, good food IMO everywhere, (except room service, could never get through to make an order).

Got off this ship 2 weeks ago. Honestly the only reason we booked it was becuz of the itinerary and date available. Wouldn't jump to book it anytime soon. My reasoning is I was disappointed it doesn't have the 2.0 upgrades. Yes it has a bbq joint on the 10th deck. You can access it from the stairs in lido by the Sweet Spot? I have to say the food was really good on Lido. We ate breakfast and lunch up there. Also dinner about 3 nights. No complain from me on food.

Not sure what was going on, but the water slide was not working the entire time we were on there. Marq Anthony the CD was good. Didn't attend any of the shows in the theater.

I sailed it in 2015 and I'm booked for its Journey Cruise to Alaska next August. Nothing much to add other than not having an Alchemy Bar is the only thing I didn't like about it, which I guess means I liked everything else. Having the retractable roof mid was cool because it made the Dive In movie nice when the weather was so/so. The Tandoor is one of my favorite places. The Thermal suite and Thalassotherapy pool are great if you have a spa room or a spa pass. I, too, prefer the raked seating of the Conquest class ships, but the aft open area seemed to make up for it. The Serenity deck is right below the mini golf, but that didn't seem to be a problem (or maybe not that many people played mini golf?).

I was concerned about the Splendor after reading reviews before we went but we loved the ship. It was actually one of our favorite. We did love the Cloud 9 Spa! We have booked a Mexican Riviera cruise on it in 2019. All the pink did not bother us at all.

We love the Splendor even though it's starting to show some wear and tear, we have been on her 7x but the last time in april the shows were horrible and the buffet food for dinner was not very good, we enjoyed the comedians and and the atrium band.

Is it still being transferred to Australia in 2019 ?

She's supposed to move to Long Beach January??? I think. do some cruises out of there for about a year. Alaska, Hawaii and Mexican Riviera. Then its supposed to head to Australia and be transferred to P&O Cruise lines, which Carnival also owns. But yes she's still going to Australia in 2019 but that could change yet again. it's future has been changed so many times in the last couple years its tough to tell where she'll end up. LOL.

For the reason above i just mentioned is why she has no 2.0 features. It does have the Pirates Pizza place though, the Deli place, and a burger and hot dog station where Guys would usually be on other ships and the burgers are not bad at all. I thought they were decent anyway She is VERY similar in layout to the Conquest class ships. Pink donuts all over yes but if you dont care much about wall paper and paint in place then you just dont really notice them after a while. Its a very nice ship. Crew was ALWAYS cleaning and polishing all over. I even watched a officer crew member going along with a white glove and doing the white glove test in various places, I swear. I saw that and thats when it made me realize they take cleaning VERY seriously. Crew was AMAZING. Wife and I had not one little issue with any one of the crew when interacting with them during our cruise. Bars all over the place, never had to go far to get a drink. I'm glad we got to sail her before she goes to P&O.

Love Splendor. I sailed on her 5X in 2014.

Yes, there was a Halloween party when I sailed in late October. Lots of passengers were dressed up as well as some of the crew.

Wishing the ship still sailed from NY...would have been on it many more times!:D

I supposed to sail the Splendor on Oct 23, But after all the destruction

in the islands maybe I cancel this cruise.

I think I am tired of this hurricane Irma and she is just starting here in Miami.

Praying for the people in Southwest, Florida and the Keys they are going to

get the worse.

We enjoyed our sailings on the Splendor. We actually prefer the layout of the Lido pool area on the Splendor vs the Conquest class ships. The chair hogging issue, which seems to be more common with the tiered decking, is much less of an issue on Splendor where the Lido is one level. We also like that the Lido-area hot tubs are up on deck 10 on the sides and are shaded by deck 11.
