Who's booked the Seaside and More!

When I spoke with an agent the other day, she said that the Fantastica and Aurea Suites have bath tubs. Like you and others here, I am puzzled as to why the confirmation only mentions "shower" if indeed there is a bathtub.

The Fantastica Suites have a Bathtub, the pic on the MSC booking page shows that, but does not mention a balcony, which my TA said it is. So will just have to wait until the ship is built I guess...Final payment is due November 2017 :o

There now is a new diagram for the midship suites (Similar to the Seaside Suites)

cruisedeckplans.com

Have now added the new released diagram of these S2 and S3 midship suites which shows a single cabin and bathroom with a shower!

Mike ... On Cruisdeckplans.com there is no S1 and I think it may be a mistake on the other site, having had a look their colour coding has an S1 as an Inside Wellness cabin!

That makes more sense. Having a suite in the Bella/economy class doesn't really make sense, I just didn't think about it when I posted that.

That is about it. Right now it feels like the Bob Seger lyric: "working on a mystery without any clues"

It is going to be our first time cruising with them (unless we find a great deal in 2017) and the reviews of the cruise line scare me. My husband speaks fluent Italian, so the language complaints I am not worried about.

I would not worry about the language issue... though it might be interesting to observe if the speeches are the same in Italian and English. ;) Beyond that, this is the same as any other ship: English is a second language for pretty much the entire crew.

I would put MSC on par with Carnival, actually slightly better. My wife slightly prefers Carnival, but I think a big part of that is because we are platinum on Carnival and she likes the VIP perks. When you throw pricing into the mix, MSC is usually the clear winner.

I'm also platinum on RCCL, and I wouldn't put it substantially higher than Carnival. Personal taste, of course, and we haven't cruised RCCL since the kids were born (6.5 years) due to the pricing for 3rd/4th passengers.

Seaside is currently running somewhat higher that typical for MSC, being a new ship. The cruise we have in April on Divina is $2000 for a B2 balcony with $200 OBC. 2 adults and 2 kids in a fantastica balcony for $1800! The same type cabin on Seaside in April 2018 would be $2600 (but with the drink package). Well, that was yesterday... looks like prices have gone up a bit even with the PRSEA5 promo (and no drink package now.)

Anyway, the point is that you can find some fantastic deals, especially if cruising with kids. If you look, you will find a great deal. Get on Divina and ease your worries about Seaside. See how that works: you get an extra cruise out of the deal! :D

We are 7 points from Diamond on RCCL, and have preferred that cruise line, over Norwegian and Carnival. Our TA is the one who suggested MSC because my Husband is Italian and a former Chef. Now he is just working the back of the house at a catering facility. The TA said the Mediterranean style cruising would appeal to my husband. We jumped on the Seaside presale because the Fantastica Suite price is what a Balcony on RCCL costs, and the beverage package thrown in was great. We are flying from NYC, and the airfare to FLA in January is very reasonable.

This is the first time I booked a cruise so far out. We have 2 this year, and generally keep it to 2 per year.

Same here: the furthest I've ever booked out is 13 or 14 months for an Alaskan, and that was to get an elusive 9A demi-suite on Carnival.

Of course, MSC makes it much more palatable with the $200 deposit. I've got 2 consecutive weeks booked on Seaside, because I don't know which week the kids will have off from school for another year. No chance I would have booked two if I'd have had to put down $1000 for each. I doubt I would have booked anything.

I was looking for info about the Divina update and found this:

MSC has signed a multiyear commitment with PortMiami, where Seaside will sail from a newly expanded and renovated Terminal 5.

http://www.cruisecritic.com/v-5/news/news.cfm?ID=6650

The odd thing is that the terminals in Miami are lettered rather than numbered. https://www.miamidade.gov/portmiami/library/portmiami-map.pdf There is currently not terminal A, but if ordered if front of B it would be on the east end of the island where eroller talked about expansion... so at least the provision for one new terminal is there. Good news... maybe another tunnel also, then?

Hey everyone! Just wondering how many out there have booked the Seaside? We've been reading about all the great plans for this ship and it looked so marvelous with the glass bottom walkways and everything. We just up and booked for February 10th, 2018 to celebrate our birthdays. We couldn't be more excited. Just 779 days to go!

Hope CC gets 2018 countdowns and Seaside roll calls section up soon so we can all start plotting and planning for the fun. :D Since we can't start up our roll call threads yet, how about everyone tell something about what they're looking forward to on their first cruise on the Seaside?

Hi Ya TravelinGert. We are also on the Feb 10, sailing. A roll call for this sailing has been started why not join it.

I booked for the March 17, 018 sail date because it coincides with spring break for the kids. So looking forward to this. We booked a fantastica suite. We haven't smile MSC yet (our first cruise on the Divina will be this November). Hoping they keep all the details I see in the renderings.

  • 2 months later...

Hopefully the new MSC website has some accurate data for the different cabins. I changed our cabin a few weeks ago from 9208 to 9002. The new information when booking on the website has details for 9002 that indicate the cabin surface area is 296 sqft and the balcony is 409 sqft. Sounds like that should be a pretty nice suite for a really good price.

We're booked on Seaside for the 14 night April 7, 2018 cruise! Have sailed Divina a year ago and loved the food and entertainment. Seaside looks beautiful! We booked balcony cabin 11271...trying to decide if I want to just buy the bev pkg or change cabins to Aurea. Happy with the cabin location so probably will stay put. Love hearing updates and seeing pictures from the shipyard build.

Cruise ship deck plans also has a weird thing on the S1/S2/S3 graphic where it appears there is a small room on the balcony when coming from the living room area. There appears to be a wall parallel to the railing mid-balcony, and even a separate door to access the rest of the balcony.... very strange.

I am not sure if this has been addressed, but I *think* the area you are referring to may be a section of the veranda which appears as though it can be blocked off - enabling separate veranda areas for the Master Bedroom, and the living / dining room. Perhaps this is something we can see in the stateroom mock-ups in the near future.

Are you saying the specific size for each stateroom is provided when booking through MSC's website?

Sounds wonderful. We would love to go in the new ship. What do you think of the prices being offered? What offers are the best in your opinion?

Only the Grand suites have the small cubicle, possibly so people can look out while at sea due to them being at the front of the ship!

Mike ... On the UK site there are no cabin sizes apart from those under the drop down box that says Fleet, when you click on seaside you then get the cabin graphics which give the sizes, is that what you are referring to ?

If you were to do a mock booking on the US site,,,you can select an available stateroom and it will open a box which gives the stateroom square footage as well as the balcony square footage if applicable. You can now see all the staterooms that are available on a deck plan as well. Here is an example of how you would book our stateroom now on the US site:

Found it before you posted, but thanks for adding the details as well on here for others to see.

Shame the UK site does not have the same info, I did notice that non of the Aft suites are available to book same as here.

I think you'll start to find more booking opportunities once the 2018 summer/fall itineraries are released Sid.
