My husband and I are leaving next week to board the Freedom of the Seas. We received an email today from RC stating that we can enhance our upcoming cruise and reach the next Crown and Anchor® Society tier even faster. Spend a minimum of $450 per person on pre-cruise and onboard purchases made using your Sea Pass card on your upcoming cruise, and earn THREE extra cruise points*. No registration necessary. Already booked your onboard experiences? You, too, will earn THREE extra points after spending $450 or more! From authentic shore excursions, to delicious dining, to soothing spa treatments, reaching your next loyalty tier has never been so rewarding. I wonder if the points are transferable? If they are, my husband can get an extra 6 points for our upcoming cruise. An even faster way to get to Pinnacle.

I wonder which guest gets the points if the accounts are combined?

I'd love to see the terms and conditions. I also wonder if expenses covered by Royal OBC count towards the $450.

I believe you can't combine the $450. My question is, if one person spends the $450 does both husband and spouse get 3 points? We will just make sure that we only charge on one card. We usually never spend any money on board because we have plenty of OBC but wondering if OBC counts too.

If both you and your husband have the same number of C&A points, then it would not matter who gets the points as you will both get the benefit. However, if you have a different number of points, then the person with the higher number of points should be the "master" onboard account so they can get the 3 extra points.

I have not gotten this email - but I would LOVE to get one. After this 3 day cruise we will be 1 point away from Diamond. (I couldn't talk my husband into the 4 day during the middle of the week :o)

$450 per person. That's $900 to get 3 points. $300 per point.

I wonder if that's the max or if $900 per person will get you 6 points.

If you're linked, and one person buys $450 worth of stuff, then the two linked people would get the benefit of the 3 points.

That's how I'm reading it as well $900 for 3 points.

I don't see gratuities as counting.

No, I think people (including me) missed that per person part :(

If they were to offer it for a 3 day - we would need to spend approximately $200 apiece. And we have OBC to use up - I wonder how that would affect the deal.

Purchases and charges made prior to the sailing, such as but limited to air, hotel, dining booked through the call center, items purchased through our Gifts & Gear website, promotional onboard credits, and onboard charges for casino and stateroom gratuities are excluded from the calculation of the minimum amount. Amount of guest's purchases will be calculated upon the end of the cruise. Points will be added to eligible Crown & Anchor member's account 60 days after cruise completion.

There is no way we could ever come up with $900 in purchases after we use up our $550 in OBC. Really RC? Not worth it for 3 cruise points.

Looks like they are doing a test. It will be interesting to see if they roll this or a modified version out to other ships in the future.

However, if a couple is linked, their effective point total is the higher of the two. So the second person does not need to earn the points to get the benefit.

For example, Harry has 169 points and Sally has 169 points. Harry and Sally are linked. Harry and Sally go on a 3-day cruise in an inside. Harry spends $450 on his SeaPass, Sally spends nothing on her SeaPass. After the cruise, Harry has 175 points, 3 from the cruise and 3 from the $450. Sally has 172 points, just the 3 from the cruise. A week later they both log into their C&A accounts, and each one shows 175 points and D+ level, because they are linked.

No, I don't think they have.

If you're seeing his points on the web site, then what you're seeing is the higher point total for either of you when you have linked Crown & Anchor accounts.

I cruise more than my husband, but if he logs into the Crown & Anchor site, he'll see my point total, simply because it's higher and our accounts are linked. If he calls Crown & Anchor, they can tell him his own personal point total.

Guess that's why they say the points will post 60 days after completion of your cruise. If they both don't meet the minimum requirements, then no points are earned. Or in other words, hubby and wifey must work together!!:D

It's typical Royal lack of clear writing. They need you as a proofreader.

So what happens if you are a single? Do you need to spend $450 or $900 to get the points? If they let a single have 3 points with $450, I would think they would let one person who spends $450 get the points, even if the other person in the stateroom does not spend their $450.
