Best hotel for Barcelona port

Any recommendations for a decent but not too expensive hotel in Barcelona? we are sailing 8th November so I'm looking for a hotel on 7th November, either close to the port or close to the airport. Never been to Barcelona before so I don't know the area.

Do look for a hotel in the city. Airport is about 20 minutes from the city.

There are two ports. One right near the beginning of Las Rambles and another one about one mile further from the city/port.

We stayed at the Hotel Curious (pronounced koo rree oos) just off Las Ramblas and wouldn't hesitate to book there again. It was a little hotel, clean, great European breakfast, and was close to the port.

One recommendation though, if you're staying on a Friday or Saturday night, bring ear plugs - the sound really carries from the narrow streets up to your room.

The La Rambla zone on Hotwire is showing 4 star hotels for your date for $70-$75 per night with free wifi. Highly recommended 4 and 4 1/2 star hotels in the Barceloneta zone for $95-$115. Have used HW in BCN and been quite happy with my results over the years. YMMV.

If looking for a hotel where you know the name in advance, the Melia, NH, and AC chains are very good in Spain.

Awhile back, stayed at Hotel El Canton,nice old hotel near port and Ramblas. Very affordable.

Hotel Oasis (or nearby on the same block)

Great views of the harbour, near the beach and Gothic quarter and a 5 minute walk from La Ramblas.

Its near the Barceloneta metro stop also.
