Currency converter apps

Sailing to ABC islands in a couple of weeks.....WhoooHooooo

Wondering if anyone has had good luck with any given app for converting currency?

While looking, have discovered many require an active connection to work correctly so may or may not work when visiting the floating market or street vendors.

To be current with exchange rates, you need to have an internet connection.

As we usually don't need to be really current, we usually just jot down the most recent exchange rate before we leave for the trip. We haven't found that we need any more exacting info than that.

If you have a connection then simply ask Google. "How many USD is X currency"

XE works fine without a connection. It updates itself when you're connected.

In Aruba, you can simply use US Dollars...which are accepted everywhere. Many places will want to give you change in Arubian Dollars, but will give you US Dollar change if they have it and you ask. Even when we stay on the island, we normally use US money and credit cards (we have cards with zero foreign exchange fees).

All three of the "ABC's" display their retail items and conduct all transactions in US $'s as standard - no need for any currency conversion. With the exception of Martinique, which is a dual Euro / US $ island, every Caribbean port of call we have been to (15+) are US $ based.

XE works fine without a connection. It updates itself when you're connected.
