  1. We will be with you on Symphony for the first week in a Boardwalk Balcony cabin. Along with Oasis, Symphony is my favorite RCCL ship. We love Central Park, the Solarium Bistro for Breakfast, the ice show and Hairspray (one of the few RCCL shows with a positive message). We have never experienced pushing or shoving in lines. The itinerary is weak, but for us, it's all about the ship. Hope we meet onboard!
  2. Sounds like an excuse to avoid tipping. Do they also vacuum the floor, clean the sink and toilet, and bring ice if asked, etc., etc.. I am glad to hear that, at least, you tip in specialty restaurants. Oh wait, that gratuity is automatically added.
  3. An excellent question! I note that those who are touting the removal of tips always respond with a generalization such as "I tip my room attendant and waiter." They never indicate how much they tip. My guess is that most (not all) tip well below the recommended amount.
  4. You cite no reason to support your comment. I gave a reason (post #47) to support why we are all paying more because people remove tips.
  5. 1. It's my business if I'm paying more for a cruise to subsidize those who don't tip. 2. RCCL tells you how the tip money is allocated. You may disagree with it but it is simply wrong to say there's no way of knowing how it's allocated.
  6. How do you think RCCL makes up a loss in income? They are not a charity. How do they make it up? They raise the prices of their cruises. We all are charged more to subsidize those who don't tip.
  7. What's your guess? What percentage of folks who remove tips never tip anyone?
  8. I assume you are referring to the kummelweck sandwich. By all means taste it but be aware that the quality varies greatly depending on the cut of meat used. In general, it's better to ask for thinly sliced cuts. Enjoy! (if they have it)
  9. So sad! Along with Allure, it used to be best in the fleet overlooking the Boardwalk and Aqua Theatre. They also served hot lunches from a menu with complimentary wine and beer. Those days, however, are long gone. Actually the lounge is less about location and more about the friends you can make.
  10. Thank you MVH and Ate. We are sailing from Brooklyn. The Sports Bar list is very helpful. My wife enjoys a Spritz so it's good to see they have a couple of choices. My Czech heritage is happy to see they have Pilsner Urquell.
  11. We have the Easy Plus Drink Package. It lists draft and bottled beers. I was wondering if there are also canned beers and specifically Pilsner Urquell and Foster's Oil Can?
  12. Looking to our October cruise with fear and trembling. Just for fun, I'll check the MSC prices for January and February. I've been working with the assumption I would not book another MSC until we were satisfied with the first one.
