  1. Vlthom----you get the Oceania "good guy award" for this month!!!! Hope this works on Vista TV's. Dr Koob will check it out. This will really help many Oceania cruisers. Thanks.
  2. Why are you guys afraid to put some pressure on Oceania to fix the problem? Hearing aids are ok, but, there are things Oceania could do! See above posts. We pay for a premium product---we have the right to ask the cruise line for some simple fixes to correct the TV noise!
  3. These are all good comments. I hope Oceania is listening. Another solution would be to give us a headset that would connect to the TV wirelessly and alter the TV settings so this could work. Right now you can not do that. OCEANIA-----most of your cruisers are well over age 60. TAKE CARE OF OUR NEEDS!! This might reduce the complaints they get about TV noise.
  4. I was on the thread with Dr Koob about his Vista current cruise and the subject of TV noise came up. Decided to start this new thread. Amazon has two simple devices to divert the sound coming from the back or downward facing speakers and redirect it toward the front of the TV. I am going to buy them and test before I go in January. Some people said to use "Command strips" (leave no residue) to attach. I do like my TV a little loud (I am 80) and hope this will work. https://www.amazon.com/Speaker-Passive-Amplifier-Set-Audiophiles/dp/B09TQ23FKC/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3JHS7FO43UTBD&keywords=sound+deflectors+for+smart+tv&qid=1696610701&sprefix=sound+deflectors+for+smart+tv%2Caps%2C83&sr=8-3 https://www.amazon.com/KARE-TurboScoops-Alternative-Redirects-Directly/dp/B09HCPPZ3P/ref=sr_1_4?crid=3JHS7FO43UTBD&keywords=sound+deflectors+for+smart+tv&qid=1696611778&sprefix=sound+deflectors+for+smart+tv%2Caps%2C83&sr=8-4
  5. Gentleman cruiser. Could you expand on how to do the VPN thing? We use Verizon on a Pixel phone. This would be great info for all of us
  6. Dr Koob. Enjoy all of your comments. We are sailing on Vista in January and I was wondering if that smart tv would allow me to "wirelessly" connect my over the ear headset to the smart TV? Maybe you could ask some IT guy on board. How is the tv noise from adjacent cabins? I kinda keep the tv volume a little high.
  7. Yes---that is a picture of the small pool in the private area forward in the ship that Concierge has access.
  8. Bill--excellent choice. Here is why: 1. Access to the Concierge lounge on deck 9 (hope you are on this deck)--great coffee and snack food throughout the day, watch TV or read paper while your cabin is being cleaned and get help from the person that works there. 2. Access to the outdoor Spa that is forward on the ship and has small pool and usually uncrowded lounge chairs. Go thru the Spa and use your key card to access that private area. 3. Early access to make reservations for the 4 speciality restaurants. I believe it is 60 days early for Concierge. Go to Oceania webpage at midnight (eastern time) on that 60 days before cruise. 4. It sounds like you have never been on Oceania, if so, it is a great benefit, to be able to bring wine or liquor on board at any time and if you do not have a drink package then this can save you money. You can only drink this in your cabin. 5. Early Boarding time. These are the top reasons. Please go to youtube and search for "tours of Riviera" to see everything.
  9. Riviera--no contest. AND, if you can afford it--concierge cabin (A category). Many, many benefits to having a concierge or above cabin. Post--if you choose concierge and I will tell you the details of this category.
  10. Yes. I also think I heard about this on Cruise Critic. Maybe someone can confirm if this is still a policy.
  11. Question---Is it still the policy, that if you order a mixed drink (perhaps without any liquor package), while in port in MIA, before the ship leaves and is so many miles off the coast, then the federal/state tax will also be added?
  12. Sorry--my cruise is one of the ones listed.
  13. More info. I just looked at the 60 cruises on sale and I DO NOT SEE MY CRUISE LISTED (Jan 19--2024 12 days Vista). I would suggest you look at your cruise on the Oceania site and see if the prices are different. Mine are different from what we booked a couple of weeks ago. Saved over $700.
  14. OK--I went to the Oceania site and it looks like there are 60 cruises on sale. Check to see if your cruise is on sale and then contact TA or Oceania.
  15. Perhaps it depends on your cabin.. Penthouse and above might get a more premium brand.
  16. VERY IMPORTANT! Contact your travel agent or Oceania (if you booked with them) and ask for a reduction in your cruise cost because Oceania has a sale now and they should give you a reduced price. I just saved over $700 for our A3 cabin sailing in Jan 24. Let me know if it works. This might not work for everyone.
  17. OK--here is the code from Oceania to get the free gratuities: "US$216 Signature Partner of the Month Prepaid Gratuities VIS240119" This is for A3 cabin. Perhaps this is a TA thing--maybe.
  18. 1. Best "bang for your buck" is a Concierge cabin. You get an early time to book speciality restaurants (60 days) and access to the Aquamar Terrace at the front of the ship. 2. Right now, you can get free beer and wine at lunch and dinner. Simply More offer. 3. Right now, get about $800 in credits for excursions. 4. Right now get free gratuities 5. The Concierge lounge (deck 9) is a great addition to your cruise experience. 6. The ability to bring onboard anytime, wine, liquor or other alcohol is very unique to other cruise lines. Only drink this in your cabin. I'll think of other. Lets see what the masses say.
  19. Ok--we purchased a 12 day on Vista leaving Jan19 from MIA. Got the Simply More package. A3 cabin. Purchased it about 2 weeks ago. So I saw the Labor Day sale and on some sites it said gratuities were included. Called my TA and he called Oceania and they threw in the free gratuities ($216 each)! Oceania said since we purchased within the last 30 days they could make that change.
  20. Just to be clear--for new people on Oceania--when you hear the term "tender"--do not think about some luxury boat that takes you to the port dock--IT'S THE LIFEBOATS! Very cramped--knee to knee with the person across from you. Please correct me if I am wrong.
  21. I don't think I have seen many comments about the shows on Vista. Could someone on board give us some opinions. Also--how does the new theatre (lounge) look?
  22. Hanoj--appreciate your reply very much about connecting a headset to the cabin TV. Thanks for doing that. Keep the posts going. I will leave my wireless headset at home and perhaps use closed caption as someone suggested.
  23. Hanoj--enjoy your posts. Since you are on Vista now, do you think you would have time to ask someone on board (IT dept or guest services) if it is possible to pair a bluetooth wireless headset to the room TV so I could watch TV while wife is sleeping. We are on Vista on Jan 19 in Concierge. Thanks.
  24. Thanks everyone. This is all good info. Maybe someone on Vista right now can check out some of these theories.
  25. I like to use my over ear wireless headset to listen to TV after my wife goes to sleep. I would assume the new TV's on Vista are smart TV's and therefore will I be able to connect my headset to the TV? Will I need a "bluetooth" device to connect (red and white wires--I think it's called RCA) to the back of the TV? Can the TV be moved slightly and rotated? Need some IT guys for help. Sailing Vista for 12 days starting Jan 19 2024.
