  1. 5.30pm woulf have been far too early. Struggled with 6pm which I had prebooked prior to cruise. 6.30-7pm would have been best on this cruise personally.
  2. I saw the bathroom on the Sydney open night and thought they were the size of an airline cubicle….but I found it was fine to actually use during the cruise. Loved the rainforest shower head but the horizontal wand spray in the shower was weird…kept turning it on by accident
  3. It’s funny that on other cruise lines the view of the lifeboats would be called an obstructed view but not on Virgin. You could see directly down to the water from the balcony but you also could see directly into the lifeboat if you looked to the left.
  4. I haven’t given it much thought because I haven’t needed to but I also notice that one single bed has been staged with the pillows leaning up against the single chair in the cabin so you would have to set the chair just so to get the pillows to look like that and it would only last for a minute or two anyways… I believe the original idea was for the single beds to be converted into a comfy sofa for daytime use but it ended up not being possible for the room stewards to do this, so that option is no longer offered.
  5. Yes, I had it every night in the restaurants. Just wasn’t in the carafes in the cabin. Of course, I could have asked if it was important but the still water was fine.
  6. So plan for lunch on boarding day was to eat at The Dock. Had heard this recommended in the lead up to the cruise. The Dock is a “view drenched mezze lounge designed to channel seaside vibes”. Managed to get an outside table looking at the Sydney Harbour Bridge but service was slow so gave up. Grabbed some grab & go eats and took them back to cabin for a late lunch (hadnt discovered The Galley at this point). Never made it back to The Dock (so much to see, not enough time) so no photos.
  7. All activities etc listed on the Virgin App. Apart from the boarding day glitch of not being able to book anything for a 1 1/2hrs and missing booking shows as a result, the App was user friendly. Paper copies of the daily program were still available though. Boarding Day:
  8. I don’t know the capacity that was cruising on our ship. It never felt crowded but I did notice that Pink Agave in particular had no spare tables/seats and there were lines to get into The Wake and the Italian restaurant.
  9. This is not my photo but I saved because I wanted to show my daughter the bed configuration if she cruised on Virgin with one of her girlfriends. Set up for 2 single beds.
  10. Your wife has the perfect plan there. Hope she makes it happen 🌴🍹📖
  11. No, I would think they are re-usable. Very sturdy plastic containers. Water is available in your cabin in courtesy of 2 large glass carafes that are topped up by your room steward. I thought I had online somewhere that there was a choice of still or sparking water, but the two carafes contained still water at room temperature. The mini bar fridge in the room was excellent for keeping items cold. btw, the gold plated item in the photo is a bottle opener you can purchase and the blue octopus was a little squeezy decoration you could buy, if you so desired. I didn’t.
  12. My plan was to have an ice-cream a day. Didn’t happen but so goood for free ice-cream. I liked that you had a choice of cones or a cup. First day was one scoop. Second day was two scoops. Chocolate was my favourite although I haven’t tried all flavours.
  13. Drat - I didn’t have either of those! When we were in Noosa for a week last year - we discovered Happy Pops 🤤 DH would have one every night after dinner.
  14. We had a wild storm move through Sydney today. No trains running in the afternoon for our line and replacement buses hadn’t yet been organised so it took DH double the time to commute home. Then he walked in door and discovered the internet was out due to the storm and he hasn’t been able to fix. He is not a happy camper atm.
  15. I needed longer on board. I had my first pastry as I was disembarking this morning. Took the pain au chocolate to work and had it with coffee mid morning - yum. The Galley I only went to a couple of times. First time I asked for French toast with berries (as listed on the menu). I got two plain slices of white bread and two small ceramic bowls - one with blue berries and one with strawberries. That was it. Obviously a breakdown in communication…. Second visit was for a bagel with cream cheese & salmon. Very nice. Final afternoon I decided I had to try a couple of items from the sweet place. The mini meringues were delicious.
  16. Persephone. Excuse the poor quality photos but you can see the audience are standing on the floor near the main stage and around the mini stages. There is a small seating area upstairs with a small balcony on either side. The small number of cruisers stood at the balcony edge. The audience in the seated section 3 rows of 4 seats each - faced the main stage but had an obstructed view or completely obstructed view of the performers up high opposite the main stage. Venue: The Red Room.
  17. The Galley. Virgin Voyages version of the buffet. Lots of food options here. And there was a small selection of boxed grab & go - wraps, salads & two very nice desserts And coffee Soft drinks & juice
  18. The staff may offer you a later time. The cruisers that were turned away at 6.30pm were told a table would be available at 8.30pm. Each restaurant had their own booking system so there may be availability at another restaurant. There is the pizza place and The Gallery. All the food options are listed on the app, as others have said, you won’t starve.
  19. Then explored ship. It’s beautiful. Modern, bright, spacious and very clean. Plenty of seating indoors & out. First drink at the Draught Haus. Pre-cruise a jellyfish shot was recommended. Bar lady serves it slowly so you can video it being made to see the jellyfish appear, if you wish.
  20. Prebooked all restaurants before boarding (they are included in price) when they opened up prior to cruise. You had to be quick. They booked out quickly. Shows could only be booked on boarding. Had issues with app for the first hour or so on board. So missed out on most of the shows (limited capacity). Managed to get a booking for a show on the final night. Headed up to the pool deck
  21. Boarding time 2.15pm. Chosen when bookings were available on the Virgin App. Able to start boarding at 2pm. The Virgin band that you wear on your wrist instead of a lanyard, was put on very loosely. Kind staff member of OPT adjusted it properly for a few of us. Boarding took all of 10mins. Cabins immediately available. Sea Terrace Deck 10 AFT. Very happy with cabin & location and LOVED the red hammock on the balcony. So comfy. Other cruisers did not realise you could fully stretch out laying the hammock.
  22. Ooops I missed the sail into Sydney Harbour this morning. First time ever. Must have been the food coma I was in plus all the free alcohol from the foodie photo class in the morning & cocktail photo class in the afternoon that I did yesterday plus the final cocktail purchases to use up the free loot (OBC). I asked DD if she wanted anything from on board. She said maybe some Virgin merchandise. After I sent photos from the Virgin store on board, she replied “good lord. No thank you. They really aren’t good at designing merchandise are they?”
