  1. Been blessed with beautiful weather for our mini break. Up early for sunrise at the Lighthouse. Photo’s aren’t spectacular but it was nice to have it to ourselves. Walking up this steep path to reach the Lighthouse several times a day has been a good workout After sunrise, we walked 1.5km to the closest coffee source - a little caravan open at 7.30am. Early morning views. Then because it was beautiful weather, we checked out the beaches. First one had a dingo roaming, so we gave that a miss. No photo as we didn’t want to get close. We drove a fair distance to Booti Booti NP and saw this guy making the most of the bench near the outdoor beach showers Nearby was Blueys Beach (22km from the Lighthouse) we drove here because DH wanted to try a particular cafe for lunch. Then headed back towards the Lighthouse and No1 Beach is where we spent the afternoon swimming. Water temperature was lovely. Boat Beach has the most beautiful blues. Finally, tonight’s sunset from the headland near our cottage. Hoping all the World Cruisers have a lovely day in my home city, Sydney, tomorrow.
  2. DH & I are having a little getaway to Seal Rocks (approx 3 1/2hrs north of Sydney). Max is being spoilt again by our housesitters. We are staying at the lighthouse keepers cottage at Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse. The weather is beautiful, the cottage is spacious and has views from every angle and having a working lighthouse up close from your backyard is pretty cool.
  3. Leant something interesting. Paying extra to express post a parcel from here only covers the section from Sydney to the “first port of call” - in this case Vancouver. Parcel then sat in Vancouver for 2 weeks before finally being delivered today 🙄 Won’t do that again. Will just continue to send parcels standard.
  4. Opened the travel magazine in our weekend paper and there was a big article about the tick tok buzz surrounding the World Cruise. Anyone on TT? I am not but the young family members their cousins and friends are.
  5. @ringers0815 going to miss your beautiful photos when you disembark in Brisbane. Are you re-joining the WC further on?
  6. @CSHS1979 Laura, nice photos. John wasn’t interested in doing the sky jump or skywalk?
  7. Watched a new to Netflix (Australia) doco. Finke - there and back. Gutsy 230km annual motorbike race on a dry river bed in Central Australia (near Alice Springs). I thought ski resorts kept orthopaedic surgeons busy… this race is next level. Filmed in 2018, if you haven’t seen it, and you like adventure sport docos, I recommend.
  8. I am sure the struggle is real but for me that hammock was my happy place ❤️ (as well as the on board restaurants)
  9. Enjoy your time in Bay of Islands. Next stop - Sydney 🇦🇺 Forecast for Friday is cloudy but a warm 28C. You should have a lovely day.
  10. Royal Carribbean’s World Cruise on Serenade of the Seas is due to leave Bay of Islands, New Zealand tomorrow evening and arrive in Sydney on Friday. Just curious, will it pass by close to any of our coastline on the way to Sydney? (I’ve not paid attention to ship routes Sydney to NZ or vice versa before).
  11. Nice photo Graham. George, congratulations on your big win but sorry to read of your long term friends diagnosis.
  12. Like @NHProud posted - My friend’s husband has had a cough for almost 12months now, He is otherwise fit & healthy. A myriad of tests and they can’t find a cause.
  13. Had a rare day in the city today, I don’t go in very often these days. We visited the Banksy exhibition on at the Town Hall, then walked over to the Art Gallery of NSW - my friend hadnt seen the “new” extension, then a walk through the Botanical Gardens and down to Circular Quay. Ship of the day was the Carnival Splendour (so need to take a photo to post here). A very pleasant day out with nice weather.
  14. @BonTexasNY all the best for your surgery & I hope your daughter’s symptoms stabilise. I have a close friend with MS who has infusions twice a year. Great that your daughter has such a positive outlook. @firefly333 all the best for your skin checks. DH lost his mum to melanoma at 15 & as someone who goes through what you do, I appreciate the advances in skin cancer checks & treatments. @Sunshine3601 hope the meds kick in for you ear and you can enjoy the cruise & cocktails to the fullest.
  15. We currently have a shortage of carbon dioxide on the east coast of Australia due to supply chain & other issues. Explains why our soft drink aisles in our major supermarkets have been looking a little bare recently. Adding it to the list of things I’ve never thought about before….
  16. It’s a UK/German/US production - the first season of this thriller series was filmed in South Australia (Adelaide/Port Augusta/Peterborough/Flinders Ranges) starring Irish actor Jamie Dornan. Haven’t watched season 2 yet and wasn’t aware filming had moved to Ireland. Thanks for the reminder
  17. Another place that cruise ships “spoil” the view is the lovely indoor/outdoor cafe at the MCA (Museum of Contemporary Art)
  18. Yes, I thought it was going to be a party hard ship for the beautiful 20/30 yo Instagram crowd but instead there were plenty of cruisers in the 50+ age range enjoying a new modern cruise ship with no kids on board and really good food & service.
  19. My work colleague who got me into cruising, is loyal to Royal (& won’t cruise any other cruise line). They are Diamond+. Their thoughts are they simply will not cruise at the current prices and are now planning a land vacation to a country they would normally cruise to.
