  1. @bobmacliberty what a mammoth effort you are undertaking for your daughter. I had to Google 130yo Victorian home. Absolutely beautiful. Are you planning on making it liveable (which clearly is a huge job in itself) or will there be some restoration work as well? Does the house come with a garden? If so, what state is that in? Please take care. Back injuries are no fun.
  2. DS visited Big White and a couple of other resorts last season but I’ve not heard of Red Mountain. There are so many resorts. As a novice snowboarder from Australia, Silver Star worked out fine and he was lucky they such a great season last winter - it was extended by at least a week. When my daughter’s friend worked at a ski resort in Japan, they had a poor snow season and the resort closed early.
  3. Sunset at 4pm in British Columbia (Silver Star Ski Resort) courtesy of DS who drove there from Calgary. Season starts in just under 2 weeks.
  4. Sunny Sunday & not a cloud in the sky today. DH dropped me off at Dad’s and then headed to the beach. He said the water is still a bit cool and it was a bit too breezy for his liking. Came home from dads with strawberries, spinach and cucumbers. The green beans he planted last week are thriving.
  5. I am sorry, I seem to have missed your original post. My condolences on the passing of your dog. They are not just pets, they are family and they give us unconditional love and the grief you feel when they pass is tough.
  6. Ooh ok. Have to see if there will be an app for us. DD was notorious for putting a load of washing on at 10.30pm…
  7. Gosh I love street libraries. Took Max for a long walk last night after dinner and decided to walk down a street that I noticed last week has a brand new street library installed. Delighted to discover that someone had donated the brand new release of one of my fave authors that has been getting excellent reviews. Meanwhile, DH was at the theatre seeing Tubular Bells for two. Two Australian musicians re-create Mike Oldfield’s 1973 album Tubular Bells with over 20 musical instruments.
  8. I think there should be a pets who cheese us off support group. DH is currently in a MOOD due the epic battle of wills this morning attempting to brush Max (& he has the scars to prove it) After a few other disasters this morning, he suggested I vacate the house. Happy to oblige since the Black Friday sales are currently on….so I had a pleasant afternoon shopping to my hearts content 🛍️
  9. We are getting solar panels installed on our roof next week. DH informed me that it is best not to have a shower in the morning. I need to shower “off peak”. Nope - not happening. Happy to use off peak for dishwasher & washing machine but pre-work showers are non-negotiable.
  10. Talking about technology and cash - last week one of our main Australian telecos had a castrophic outage. Their system crashed early in the morning and they only started to get it back online around 3pm. Millions were impacted -Hospitals, businesses - small and large. No phones, no internet, no payment transactions + people couldn’t make emergency calls to 000. Given how rapidly we are heading towards a cashless society here in Australia, it raised serious questions…
  11. Anyone cruised on Virgin Voyages? They are launching here this summer. Yesterday , on a domestic Virgin Airlines flight from Melbourne to Hobart, ‘Sir Richard Branson announced over the PA that all adults on board the flightwere being gifted a Virgin Cruise to the value of $7k. Ground crew, baggage handlers, Captain and crew all gifted as well. Nice!
  12. Glad you are back online. I just assumed you were on a cruise or visiting the Peak District. You meal looks delish.
  13. Passengers on a Virgin airlines domesticflight yesterday from Melbourne to Hobart were gifted a free cruise by Richard Branson. He FaceTimed to the passengers on board to make the surprise announcement. Wonder if the same thing will happen during the two open ship nights?
