  1. We had an expected cold snap come in overnight. It currently 57f with a cold wind in the late afternoon. I think Dad’s neighbours and friends will be baking plenty of banana bread etc soon…
  2. Any mass shootings are tragic but when it is your “local”, it’s frightening and shakes you up. I sincerely hope no-one you know or love was there and my heart goes out to all those impacted.
  3. 468 step tower with a fear of heights. I applaud you. Was there a stunning view at the top to reward you for your efforts?
  4. Lovely to see the King & Queen Consort travelling in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach that was designed & built in Australia 🇦🇺
  5. Just little ol me (& Max) with a bottle of Veuve Cliequot currently watching the Coronation. DH has ditched me to watch the Rugby (League) at a mates place. I am the only one who is interested in the Royal pageantry in the family. Photos from when DD & I visited the Royal Mews in London to see all the beautiful Royal carriages.
  6. Good morning, it’s a Royally beautiful sunny Saturday in Sydney. Some families were even swimming at the natural harbour swimming pool at Marrinawi Cove at Barangaroo. This only opened summer just gone. I haven’t had a swim here yet. In the city to see Steve McCurry’s icons photo exhibition. No photos permitted but it was the landscape photos that interested me the most. Nice that they had a bar & cafe open at the exhibit at Pier 2/3 Walsh Bay. Then walked all the way up to the AGNSW to see the Wynne Prize (landscapes) Rock holes in the southern desert region Pitjantjatjara of South Australia. Painting of NASA photo from International Space Station of bushfire smoke over Australian continent. Artist’s garden in the snowy mountain region of NSW. The Coronation coverage is on at a very civilised 7.30pm tonight so looking forward to popping open a bottle of bubbly after dinner & settling down to watch.
  7. Congratulations to Owen on passing the first test. Let the fun begin. Your driving process sounds similar to ours. One of the restrictions as well speed limit is that they are not permitted to have extra passengers in the car after 11pm. We have L plate for learners (under supervision) then red P and then green P and finally full licence. 120 hours of logged supervised driving is required which I think is a great requirement for learning to drive here.
  8. You wife has turned into Lucy? 🤣. Happy 16th Birthday to Owen. that’s a pretty special milestone birthday. Hope he has a great day 🎉
  9. @A&L_Ont please share the stain removal recipe. Cricket whites in summer & soccer uniform in winter was white too 🙄
  10. @dani negreanu nothing worse than pushy people & a long drawn out final leg of a trip home. Photos are beautiful. You have a great eye & love the info too.
  11. What a fabulous trip you have planned. Love Neil Diamond. Look forward to your kitchen photos and later any NYC photos if you care to share.
  12. Vienna Opera would have indeed been amazing. Definitely do see a performance at the Sydney Opera House. Depending on the month you are here, there is also the option of Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour. The outdoor stage is set up on the harbour front of the Sydney Botanic Gardens and the you see the illuminated Sydney Harbour Bridge & Opera House directly behind the stage as you watch the Opera.
  13. Hope little Isaac gets well soon. Just seen today some photos of the beautiful and creative floral arrangements around London for The Coronation & that Big Ben has some projections on it. Enjoy your weekend with family celebrating.
  14. (Thankfully) it wasn’t too chilly tonight for Inside/out at the Sydney Opera House. As part of the 50th Birthday celebrations they had a week of live performances that could be watched on the big screen on the forecourt of the Opera House for only $10 a ticket. Tonight’s offering was the ballet & for only $10 it was good value for a newbie to ballet - we could leave early if we got too cold or bored. The audience outside watching the audience inside the Opera House waiting for the same ballet to start. Ballet was Jewels. Beautiful costumes, lovely ballet, lovely music and perfect for first timers to the ballet like ourselves. The majority of the outside audience stayed to the very end including ourselves. Photo taken during intermission First performance - Emeralds Second performance - Rubies Final performance - Diamonds And walking back to the ferry wharf at Circular Quay, we saw Darth Vader, a couple of Storm Troopers and several other Star Wars characters roller skating with their lightsabers #Happy Star Wars Day.
  15. In the news today that Jenny Craig has gone bust. Although my weight fluctuates a bit due to work stress, I have never needed a weight loss program but an older retired friend looks fabulous after combining the Weight Watchers program with aquatic Zumba four times a week.
