  1. Mentioning this because it’s a cruise port - Auckland, New Zealand is under a state of emergency due to flooding. 240mm of rain. International airport closed due to flooding and Elton John’s concert cancelled at very short notice. Speaking of Elton John - my BIL drove 2 1/2 days from South Australia to see Elton John last week. heavy rain during the concert and they got absolutely drenched but loved every minute of the concert.
  2. DD is feeling the pain of the current international flight costs. She thought booking one way to London and then booking a one way one return later might be a cheaper option. Hasn’t worked out that way. One way to London $1k. Return flight with Singapore airlines $1400.00. That was the cheapest of the reputable airlines.
  3. Family friend in Canada, same age as my DD, was planning on being a competitive tennis player whilst a uni student, then she switched to flying. She has just reached her milestone 1000hrs of flying. Photo from the cockpit.
  4. How wonderful that they took his artwork on that final flight and signed it too. Wonderful memento. I would have liked to have flown the Concorde too.
  5. Hot & humid in Sydney today. Went for a lovely walk along the beach after dinner. And then enjoyed a rare ice-cream treat. DH chose strawberry cheesecake and I picked my childhood favourite flavour - rum & raisin. Yummy.
  6. Did my research today - Ovation & Quantum are sister ships, main difference is Quantum is 2 years older. Curious as to why Quantum is struggling with bookings and Ovation is not - Thoughts? To the OP, enjoy your future cruise.
  7. Had a wild lightning storm come through Sydney last night. It was hot & humid before, so we sat out on the deck and watched it approach. One of the early flashes of lightning lit up our big paperbark tree and we could see the baby possums climbing higher & deeper for safety. photo taken by a family member of the sky at their place last night
  8. @Sea Dog I’ve seen quite a few photos of families recreating their childhood photos but your photo with Jonathan is one of the best. Your random act of kindness would have made those people’s year and created a lifetime memory.
  9. Lovely photos. I’m amazed by people who swim year round. -8 to 4c is definitely not swimming weather. Brrr. Hope the weather warms up for you a bit soon.
  10. “Weekender” on 7plus, Season 22, Episode 42 has a full episode focusing on the Carnival Luminosa, sailing out of Brisbane. The episode was shown free to air yesterday in QLD. Im in Sydney and was able to watch the episode today via 7plus.
  11. Only visited Disneyland once. We did it in combo with Knott’s Berry Farm. Back in the late 80s. My biggest recollection from them was the churros. First time we had eaten them.
  12. We had a bbq lunch in the bush picnic area and appreciated the modern drop toilet structure nearby Local bush shelter with pink flamingo cushions (photo taken yesterday, when the sun was out) .
  13. This wasn’t the beach we walked to but having walked to this beach multiple times in the past, I can understand the sign…. The beaches we did walk to, clearly had a lot of driftwood
  14. Fall Guy tv series starring Ryan Gosling is being filmed on Sydney Harbour Bridge this morning - with the bridge & Cahill expressway closed to cars, buses & pedestrians from 3am-10am. Only way to get across the bridge is via train and one might get a glimpse of Ryan doing some stunts in a bridge red jacket.
  15. Lovely sunny day in Sydney today. 25C and light breeze. Perfect day for a bushwalk in Bouddi National Park, north of Sydney.
