  1. Any one watch the Knives Out sequel? - Knives Out Glass Onion. Thoroughly enjoyed the original film but I thought the sequel was slow to get going, then it was watchable but then forgettable. Whereas the original I would happily watch again.
  2. We recently cruised 7 days on Carnival Luminosa. I was very nervous about getting Covid on board - to the point of considering cancelling (purely because I didn’t want us to have to isolate in our cabins). We wore mask’s & used sanitizer but otherwise cruised per normal. We disembarked on the 11th Dec and neither of us had symptoms on board or since.
  3. It’s a beautiful 32C (89f) in Sydney today. Had a family member made a quick visit to our place this morning. He normally comes down in one of his cars. Being on holidays, he decided to ride his motorbike. He is very safety conscious. The 32C today feels like 35C and he rode in full motorcycle leathers. He said Riding through the tunnel was like riding through an oven. I honestly don’t know how motorcyclists who do the right thing for themselves - wear full leathers for protection - do it in our Australian summers.
  4. My dad would love this. He got very excited last week when a small gecko made an appearance on the outside of his house and the rare appearance of a blue tongue lizard in his garden, just makes his day.
  5. Rant warranted. If you have to share a lane with people who all swim at different speeds and/or one person is doing breaststroke and three people are doing freestyle it can be a very frustrating experience. Have only experienced it in a 50m pool. In a 25m would be a nightmare We had the booking of the lane thing during Covid, having to do that as a ongoing basis would do my head in. Sorry your daily swimming has gone from a pleasurable experience to a complete debacle.
  6. Boxing Day in Australia is the day our supermarkets start selling hot cross buns. There is a lot of debate about it and sure enough our local store starting selling them yesterday…..
  7. @Sea Dog hope your other knee holds up for you to be able to enjoy the Bella cruise. Love Actually is my favourite Christmas movie. Will seek out your other two.
  8. @dani negreanu you asked about the swimming pool I posted photos of. The pool is a 50 metre heated outdoor pool. They do have a floating barrier that they occasionally install to make it 25 metres if the pool is being used for other activities but I prefer swimming the 50 metre distance. The indoor section has a wonderful children’s pool, two smaller pools - one for children’s swimming lessons and one for leisure exercises very popular for people who like to walk in water. Cost to use the pool is $9 for an adult or you can buy a pass. There is also a room upstairs for pilates classes and an gym room. The Zumba classes in the 50metre pool are very popular. The group of ladies who attend the classes have even started travelling together. The first trip was to Sri Lanka and more recently they travelled to Greece.
  9. @Sea Dog Greg, thank you for sharing your Christmas Day with us. Your love of Christmas is truly special and your wish upon a star on Christmas Eve is a beautiful tradition. Glad your Christmas Day festivities were so enjoyable for you and your family. Love the new t-shirt for the Bella cruise. Your video of one of your pups “assisting” with the opening of the presents, is the reason why we have never had presents under the tree. Do you keep a record of the Christmas movies you watch? If so, do you have a top 3 from this year that you would recommend?
  10. 36C today. Spent the day in my swimmers. Laps in the morning per previous post, friend’s pool in the early afternoon then the beach in the late afternoon. This is the beach at 6pm tonight (lifesavers stop patrolling the beach at 6.30pm) A child’s new Christmas toy had perfect conditions: Left DH to sleep on the beach, whilst I walked up to the headland to watch the paragliders. Watched this guy try to get airborne for 30mins but it didn’t happen. This guy took off immediately and was having a blast. Forecast for tomorrow is the same. Going to make the most of it before I have to head back to the office on Wednesday. Only 4 of us in the office, so super casual and we are ordering in pizza for lunch. Meanwhile, DS is having a blast in Canada and not missing the Australian summer at all.
  11. Not sure where you are located but the weather here in Sydney on Boxing Day is hot but no complaints and have done similar to you - been in and out of pool(s) all day. Now heading to the beach again for the late afternoon. I will just be happy for this weather to continue for the public holiday again tomorrow ☀️
  12. One of the many items I gifted my dad this Christmas was liquor chocolates. He messaged me just now to say they are divine, he had to taste test each one to make sure, and now he has double vision 🤣
  13. Boxing Day here in Australia. The weather is too nice to go indoors for the crazy Boxing Day Sales. Instead, I have started early on my New Year’s Resolutions. Last year they were to do more walking. Achieved that. This year, I am planning to add swimming laps on a regular basis, in addition to the walking. Had lunch in the garden afterwards. So many cicadas (the sound of summer). Heading to the beach again this afternoon. Hope everyone had a nice Christmas Day, despite the extreme weather.
  14. Oooh. I didn’t have any egg nog this Christmas. I love egg nog. Enjoy your relaxing downtime after your lovely Christmas Day.
  15. Merry Christmas to all. We had one the best weather days for Christmas Day in Sydney for years. Had a long leisurely lunch on the deck then a late afternoon swim at the beach. The water temp was lovely. Our son is currently working in a ski resort in BC, Canada. Having a fabulous time.
  16. Christmas Day in Sydney. The men of the family arrive at lunch inadvertently wearing the same Country Road shirt. Long leisurely lunch on the outside deck. We enjoyed amongst other things; an extensive cheese board, prawns, oysters, freshly baked homemade bread, a variety of salads, ham off the bone followed by a superb trifle and Christmas pudding. The weather was glorious, a nice sunny day with a pleasant sea breeze. After our leisurely lunch, we headed to the beach for a swim in the late afternoon. The water temp was just lovely.
  17. Sorry to hear of those spending Christmas in Walmart and hope the power stays on for those of you at risk of power loss.
  18. Extending my very best Christmas wishes to everyone. For those missing a loved one at the table my thoughts are with you. Max and his Christmas present
