  1. We ate at the CG twice on our November Crown cruise. The first night was definitely a 10/10. Timely service and perfectly prepared food. The lamb was superb. But our next night was a disappointment. The black and blue onion soup was flavorless- tasted like the awful sludge from the MDR. And while DHs filet was served med rare as ordered, mine verged on well done and was tough. But service was so slow I didn't have time to send it back. FWIW, we weren't thrilled with the quality of the food in Sabatinis either. For us it was at best a 6/10.
  2. Since your question is about a Celebrity excursion, then ask your question on the Celebrity subforum: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/16-celebrity-cruises/ If you want ideas about DIY excursions or 3rd party tours, have a look at the Ports of Call forums for each of the places you will visit.
  3. Where did you see that the OP would only be doing a cruise port stop in Barbados? It only happened to me once (not in Barbados), that I was quizzed about the meds that I had with me. But it did happen. Fortunately I'd done my research in advance and could provide the necessary information.
  4. Do you think the Captain and his/her Security officers are stupid? Do you actually think they would allow them on board without thoroughly frisking them first, and then confining their movements once on board?
  5. I would suggest contacting the Barbados embassy/consulate. As long as the medication is in its original container and you have a copy of the prescription, there should be no problem.
  6. I quite understand the reasons why Celebrity and similar lines have instituted their cost cutting measures. But the fact remains that the result has been a cheapened product for a more expensive price. And once something has been removed, reduced in quantity or quality, or has had an added cost imposed; when would we likely see a reversal of those actions? Answer: likely never. The end result for us is we are holding off on new bookings and are looking at other options. Land vacations are looking better and better. YMMV
  7. 😆lol. Victoria Island is located far, far, away in the Arctic Ocean. The port in question is Victoria, on Vancouver Island. Not sure why one is an advantage over the other. Either travel to Canada to start your cruise, or visit as a port stop before ending it. The real advantages of Vancouver are that there are more lines, including luxury lines, that sail from there; and that there tends to be a greater variety of itineraries and cruise lengths.
  8. You will be given a Sea Pass card. You will use it to get on and off the ship, to open your cabin door, and to purchase anything while on board.
  9. If you want a luxury expedition cruise to Alaska, then your choices will be limited. You can easily find luxury cruises or expedition cruises, but combined? Yes, they exist, but like most things in life, you may need to realize you can't always get everything you want. I ran across an article from Forbes that may give you a couple of ideas: https://www.forbes.com/sites/irenelevine/2022/11/30/expedition-cruising-best-new-ships-fuse-luxury-adventure-and-learning/?sh=5eb773bc3f18
  10. Miss G's recommendation is spot on. This is the go to source for information about European train travel. Trains are a very easy way to travel providing you can manage your own luggage. You won't find porters at train stations any more. You would have one change of trains at Roma Termini station, if going to Naples directly on arrival from Canada.. While advance purchase of train tickets can save money, they are nonrefundable. So if travelling on your arrival day, just buy them at the airport train station. Personally, I'd just fly to Naples, unless you are planning several days in Rome before boarding your cruise.
  11. July is high season, so you need to book really soon. My preference would be AC or any of the Star Alliance partners. If you are flying into Rome for a few extra days, then non stop flights are available. But if flying into Naples, you will have to connect to another flight in Europe. Look on Google Flights for all of your options. Look closely at the connecting airport and length of time for the connection. Since you will need to clear Passport Control there, and possibly change terminals, look for a connection time of 2-3 hours. Also check to see if there are later flights on that second leg in case your first flight is delayed and you miss the connection.
  12. The lower decks, midship, will have the least motion. To avoid noise from public areas, look on the deck plan for cabins that also have cabins on the deck above and below you.
  13. Too bad, because you have missed out on some of the most fascinating POC in the world. OP, not all tenders are in lifeboats, and not all tender rides are rough, although they may be crowded. As you can see in the video.
  14. Google is always a good place to start. Found this to start: https://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=419
  15. Whether it is stocked or not, it's still an expected amenity. I want the mini fridge to keep my bottled water and canned sodas cold. Just another cost cutting measure that guests are supposed to like it or lump it, even though this is a budget line This would be a deal breaker for me, if Costa was on my list of possible future cruise lines. Which it's not
  16. Welcome to Cruise Critic. Questions that are specific to your ship or cruiseline are best asked on that line's subforum. The one for MSC is here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/49-msc-cruises/ While I've never sailed MSC, I've done ship shorexes on several other lines. Usually once you start the booking process, the times for the excursions will be listed, since some have more than 1 per day. Try doing a dummy booking, stopping before payment, and see if the times and/or excursion duration show up.
  17. Just wanted to note that there is a difference between 3rd party booking sites and reputable travel agencies. I would never use a 3rd party site for all the reasons given, but my TA has been worth his weight in gold over the years for his advice and help when problems have arisen, not to mention the extra OBC that may come our way.
  18. Welcome to Cruise Critic. Questions that are ship or cruiseline specific should be posted on their subforum. Here's the one for Royal Caribbean: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/51-royal-caribbean-international/
  19. Have a look in the Florida Departures sub forum. Lots of suggestions already there. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/386-florida-departures/
  20. A cash account is one type if payment method (mentioned above), which would be done at the terminal before you would be allowed to board.
  21. If you are interested in the itinerary, then why not try Oceania, if only once? There's nothing to stop you from going back to Celebrity on subsequent cruises. Or from expanding your horizons and trying even more lines with interesting itineraries. I like steak. But I don't want it every day. I like the Caribbean, but it's not the only area I want to travel to... See where I'm going with this? Sorry, but there's no way I would try to talk you out of trying something new that may turn out to be a new favorite.
  22. The place to find other people on your sailing is on your Roll Call. On the NCL Roll Call Forum, find your ship and then your sail date to locate your specific Roll Call thread https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/66-norwegian-cruise-line-roll-calls/
  23. Lady Arwen is correct. The step up into the bathroom or into the shower is only half the height of a normal staircase riser, which was what Skynight was stating. Holding onto the door jamb as I entered or left the bathroom was all the help I needed with my poor arthritic knees.
  24. Not at all. Couldn't be easier, and can be done 2 ways. The first is to book 2 one way flights as mentioned above. The other is to book what is termed a multi city ticket into one city (like Barcelona)and out of another (like Rome). Depending on the airline (s), one method may be cheaper than the other. As for flight costs, we usually monitor prices on Google flights for a couple of months to get a feel for variations, before booking when the price is acceptable. You can set up price alert notifications on Google Flights, as well.
