  1. Re read Heidi 13s post. He stressed the importance of BACKUP in case of electronic failure; not its requirement as a primary source. We had everything on the cruiseline app. Good to go. Nothing else required. Until we got to the cruise terminal. Their app was down and so was their wifi. l had to use our paper backups: actual passport, covid tests, Vax certificates, and travel summary before we could board. And while you can get luggage tags at the port, they are still paper.
  2. Showing on Crown in casino and Gatsbys
  3. It seems we are an exception when it comes to internet. I'm on the Crown, and have been able to email, send photos, browse CC, and watch YouTube videos all the way across the Pacific. Except for one time during heavy rain.
  4. It's still a,lowed, given that their app can glitch at the drop of hat. But if you think doing so is safer from a cyber security view, you are kidding yourself.
  5. We've had it several times on the MDR menu on Crown on our current sailing
  6. You seem stuck with a narrow view of sailing on a line you don't like or no vacation at all. Expand your options. Look at other cruise lines. Or (and I realize some CCers will consider this as heresy) do a land vacation. It's a great big beautiful world out there, and the best places to really experience are on land.
  7. ROTFLOL Who still uses magnetic strips? That is so last century.
  8. You are on the wrong forum. Go to the forum for your cruise line and ask there.
  9. But those should (hopefully) go away the next day? If not, look for prunes at the breakfast buffet.
  10. On board I don't really worry about someone stealing my stuff. Given that I don't leave it in an isolated spot (other people are around), and CCTV is everywhere, I don't think anyone would be that stupid. I have a small zippered tote that I use during the day that also holds sunglasses, tablet, camera, tissues, and hand sanitizer. In the evening I have a small black cross body bag that can convert to a clutch. I've surprised myself at how often I've used the app on this cruise. Locating DH, ordering drinks, looking at the dinner menus, etc. Plus, wifi has been excellent so far, and have been able to chat or email with family often each day (health crisis with family member). I've even been able to stream YouTube videos.
  11. Oh, please. They know exactly what you are spending your money on, whether using a card or medallion. They know exactly where you are every time you use your card for any reason. They know every time someone enters or leaves your cabin. And they have state of the art CCTV in all public areas. So they can still track you anywhere you go on the ship any time they want. You are deluding yourself if you think a card makes any difference.
  12. However, if you book a guarantee cabin or suite you cannot specify location or room number. You may get something you want, or you may get fhe worst cabin in that category. But once you receive your assignment, if there are still cabins available in that category, you can call and ask for a cabin change.
  13. It's not all fits and giggles. Life threatening latex allergy needs to be taken VERY seriously, and it's not as rare as you may think. Plus the whole problem of plastics pollution, both at sea and on land. I'm glad to see they are elimitating such a frivolous practice.
  14. Its really not difficult. While ON the ship, adhere to the ship's policies. When OFF the ship, adhere to local customs. You won't find many Italians who regularly tip, other than rounding up their bill. But tour guides know that Americans seem to have tipping ingrained in their DNA, and may act accordingly.
  15. Lol. Calling @Chengkp75. We appear to need a primer on how ships dryers are heated and vented. 'Cause I'm pretty sure they aren't directly connected to the ship HVAC.
  16. You do not have to wear a jacket for the MDR.
  17. When did Celebrity get a ship named the Bellagio?
  18. @lexmiller- our interpretation of the preboarding test requirement was that it needed to be a monitored test ( in person at a lab or pharmacy, or online), which is what we did. Will that change before you sail? Who knows. Ive no idea what happens with a B2B, vs a S2S.
  19. I'm on this cruise. The procedure has been exactly as others have described. Tested before boarding. Masks for 3 days. Tests were left in our cabins and we self tested and showed the results to our steward. The Captain announced the end of masking later that day. Rumor has it that we will have to test again either before Apia or Papeete. And yes, there is some covid on board. One of the other passengers reported seeing tables outside a couple of cabin doors. DH and I continue to mask indoors.
  20. It's been over a month. At this point consider it lost, file an insurance claim, and get the poor woman a replacement ASAP.
  21. Could be a maintenance issue? Those giant ship washers/driers can have problems, too, just like the ones at home. And even those that are working need periodic maintenance. One of my BILs works as a contractor doing this work, and frequently does it during cruises, not just during refit.
  22. Surrendering your passport to the ship personnel can make life much simpler when immigration processing is necessary during the cruise. When we needed ours for an overnight off the ship, it was a simple matter of going to Guest Services and asking for it. Don't forget to give it back when you reboard.
  23. Perhaps the OP could clarify her post. Is she paranoid that her husband will again become seriously ill on a cruise? Or is she paranoid that the ship's medical officer will (correctly) send him ashore for more advanced diagnostics and treatment should the need arise?
