  1. I’ve used AT&T Wi-Fi calling on every Royal cruise since it became a thing. Absolutely no problem as long as you have the service, which we always do. Just make sure your phone is set up for it.
  2. Another consideration is that when flying on Southwest 2 bags are included. At $30 each bag, each way, on United (economy), and considering the extra distance and cost of a shuttle, cost from Hobby can balance out or even be better.
  3. I always use a simple mathematical formula for the meds I bring, no matter their purpose. Number of days x the number of doses per 24 hours x the number of people I am responsible for packing for (usually 2) = the correct amount of that medicine. Do this with each medicine you might need. I never, ever depend on the ship or any port to have what I should be bringing, in the correct amount. Thankfully, I rarely need any of it but there have been times that I needed all of it and didn't run out.
  4. They’re murders just like we have in the U.S. In fact, over 600 so far this year in Chicago. And about 300 in Houston. Don’t go places you have no business going, and don’t do things you have no business doing, and most places are remarkably safe.
  5. I’m fairly sure Paradise Beach does too, or they’re right there on the beach near them. Lots of vendors there.
  6. Another thumbs up for Falstaff Parking. We have used them for several years and are very happy with the service. In addition to being covered, it is in a huge enclosed parking garage that is elevated about 5 feet above street level. They also have 24x7 security on site. Drivers are always friendly and helpful. Very satisfied.
  7. To follow up, they decided not to make the trip to Buccanos because of a short day in Cozumel. Our port day in January is supposed to be longer so hopefully we can get there then.
  8. My wife is headed there tomorrow. She sent me this last night. I guess she saw it on some social media site. Used to be $10 but honestly we always spent $20 each anyhow. Not sure how that applies to kids. At least they aren’t going AI…yet.
  9. We went to Buccanos again in October and they opened at 10, same as when we went in September. We enjoyed the place immensely. Planning another day there in January.
  10. I suspect they command higher prices for a number of reasons, not the least of which is because it's a good bit farther from Galveston to to Cozumel than from Miami to Nassau. But who knows. They might have some formula that includes regional income and that sort of thing.
  11. When we cruised with our young children I always packed a small headlight. In the event something went wrong and we had to make out way from our cabin to the emergency station I wanted to be able to hold hands with both kids or one kid and my wife, and still have light. I still carry it and thankfully have never had to use it. I also bring a couple of blowup mattress cushions. Put them under the pad they think will help with the typically terrible mattresses.
  12. BTW, in Grand Cayman if you’ve never snorkeled Cemetery Beach/Reef, worth it.
  13. Welcome to the forum Tina. Give us an idea what you consider adventurous.
  14. Thanks. The only thing about this that I don’t like is paying the cab driver the full amount for half the trip. I’m sure they’re legit but it goes my better judgement. I’ll reach out to them tomorrow.
  15. Good morning. I emailed the resort last night as well and am awaiting a response. I was looking here: https://www.infinitybay.com/explore/activities-events/Day-Passes and noticed there’s no mention of transportation being included. Then when I click on the link to book the day pass, there’s a field for pickup time and even an additional amount depending on which port we arrive at. I’d love to hear what they told you and compare it to what I hear. Thanks and have a great Monday.
  16. Just got off Grandeur yesterday. We like the Vision class ships. Much easier to get around and we don’t need as much entertainment as some might. The solarium was very nice. They didn’t open the roof and I have no idea if it actually opens. We sailed out of Galveston so I can’t help you with Tampa. Don’t know about the menus but I can tell you that they are very short handed. The result of that is those men and women are working their tails off and it still took over 2 hours for dinner in the MDR. After the first night we ate at Windjammer but tried the MDR again on the last night and it went 2-1/2 hours. Didn’t eat at Park Cafe but it looked about the same as Promenade. Sandwiches, pizza, I think there was a small salad bar. There were lots of folks partaking so I assume it was ok. If by beverage center you mean one of the machines that you can fill your beverage cup at, there’s one on deck 5 above the centrum next to the coffee shop. We always book inside cabins and this one was maybe a little smaller but otherwise about the same. One thing that we didn’t expect, there was no mini-fridge in the room. Try to avoid the elevators midship. The ones by the Palladium were hardly ever crowded. Most times even empty. They don’t go past deck 9 though. Our’s was a good, relaxing trip. Hope y’all enjoy it too.
  17. I haven’t read this whole thread so forgive me if I’m repeating something. You might consider contacting Native Choice for a tour of the Mayan Ruins. I’m sure there would be lots of photo opportunities and I think there would be time for food too. Good luck with whatever you decide.
  18. My adult son and his girlfriend went with Native Choice a couple of months ago and spoke highly of the service and interaction. The guide was highly educated in Mayan studies and all went smoothly.
  19. Welcome to the forum. Those port times are common for a Costa Maya 5 day trip. We are on one right now. All aboard is at 6:30 for the 7:00 departure. I don’t know why the RC system isn’t showing excursions but there’s no need to use the cruise line for such. If you want to go to the ruins, look at Native Choice. Smaller group and they do a great job. Other options include catching a cab to the malecon and find a place for some lunch. We went to Krazy Lobster Friday and really enjoyed it. Be sure to check out the Costa Maya and Cozumel threads here under Caribbean. Lots of good information there.
