Currency needed in Australia & New Zealand
Docker123 replied to etowntraveler's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
I have not carried cash in many many months. Tap for everything. Works very well in Melbourne. When I was I Perth recently, there were signs in some shops indicating they preferred cash. May reflect lockdown differences. -

Picture-A-Week 2022 - Week 47 & 48 (Dave on holiday?)
Docker123 replied to pierces's topic in Photo & Camera Discussions
After the early morning balloons, headed to a nature outing. Usually birds and such. This was a little different. -
@chubbypiggyThe Oz eta is valid for 12 months from date of issue, allowing multiple entries (with time limits on each). With your trip in April, applying now is well within the 12 month period — or allowing time to apply for another visa if needed. Can’t help with nz.

Condolences Stu. -
At times the lights can be seen from the Victorian coast, but not usually in their full glory. A number of websites track the likelihood and locations for best viewing. This is a reputable site, and can link through to a 3 day tracker https://cdn.softservenews.com/southern_lights.html

I boarded QE in Fremantle to sail to Melbourne. Dec 2019 Dropped the luggage early, then took some family members for lunch. Returned a couple of hours before my slot, and no problem boarding.

Docker123 replied to Host Bonjour's topic in Photo & Camera Discussions
The first Tuesday of November is Melbourne Cup Day. Yes, that horse race for which we have a public holiday. It also attracts some ships saying from Brisbane and Sydney for a bit of excitement. 3 ships with a big of moving around to they can fit proprly. -
This was upon me in a flash -- camera up and click. Another one zoom around the corner at the top left of the frame

Certainly damaging the health costs. it May provide a better outcome for you. The new diuretic may provide a better solution for managing the fluid retention and the kidney function problems because of how they target the cause. Whatever you do, don’t sign up for the cricket. We all know about Warnie and his mum’s water pills.

Puzzled by the Regatta Perth to Sydney Jan11th 2025?
Docker123 replied to cw2go's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Looking at the previous cruises, Fremantle to Sydney appears to be a segment of a much longer cruise originating in Sydney. So, there would be the passengers doing the whole trip, and a smaller number of spaces created by those disembarking in Fremantle. Subsequent cruises are all in the neighbourhood. -
Airlie Beach is a tender port. Cruise line tours have the reef boats collect passengers from the ship - which save plenty of time at each end of the trip. Even if you find a third party supplier, you need to factor in 45-60 minutes extra on each end of the trip. If you are going to Cairns, there may be options from there.

Now for something completely different

Congratulations Lynn. I retired at 62. A combination of a serious pain condition and a very generous early retirement scheme by the university. Pleased to be out of the system. -

Docker123 replied to Docker123's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Weather is significantly awful. Gone up to about 10. Rainy, windy. -
No webcams, so relying on my camera across the Bay. 1. Pacific Adventure 31/10 at outer west berth Station Pier 2. Pacific Encounter at outer east Station Pier 3. Carnival Splendor moved into outer east in the middle of the night 4. Pacific Encounter moved to Web Dock (commercial dock) As P&O have moved to bigger ships, none can go under the Westgate to the other commercial docks

Really tough news Uncle Les. Get the best medical support you can. -
Some last photos taken in Perth before returning to Melbourne Hyde Park, just about 5km from the CBD

I use Cancer Council 50+. Remember to put it on your ears. Very tender. Earlier this year, fortunately benign.
